Was August Awesome? [giveaway]
*******************************This giveaway ended Sept. 1, 2011 at 10:30 EST. Stay tuned for the next one!
At the beginning of this month, I posted a list of 10 Ways to Make August Awesome. Itโs always fun to have some monthly motivation and goals, so Iโll probably do similar lists for each month ๐
Bellaโs August in a snapshot:
Hereโs what was on there and how I did with my own personal list:
1. Have something to look forward to. For me, it was Healthy Living Summit – just as amazing as I anticipated it to be. The best part? Getting the Pilot away from work for a weekend so he could join me ๐
2. Create a goal for the month. First my goal was to practice more yoga, but it just didnโt happen. I just feel awkward and uncomfortable, especially since I canโt rock out handstands or arm balances right now, so I didnโt practice as much as I would have liked. [Looking back, itโs such a lame excuse. If I want to do it, I should do it, thatโs all there is to it] Instead, I began to work on another goal that may come into fruition, but Iโm superstitious and wonโt post about it until all is bueno ๐
3. Plan a dinner party. Done and done! Now that our house has been โwarmedโ and 99.9% of our stuff is unpacked, we can start to have frequent smaller dinner parties like we used to. Iโm so excited ๐
4. Go through your summer clothes and determine which ones youโd like to get rid of before storing the rest for fall and winter. I actually did this one before I posted this list, and my closet feels SO good! Bonus: room for new clothes! Heh heh.
5. Go for a swim! This didnโt happen. I thought it would motivate me to do it, but nope. Iโm a floater, not a swimmer ๐
6. Pick up a new cookbook to try this month, or borrow one from a friend. This was exciting because I unpacked all of my cookbooks, including 3 new ones that I didnโt get to use before we moved from Valdosta. I canโt wait to bust into them!
[We have another shelf full of cookbooks, too. Forgotten treasures!!]
7. Sign up for a fitness event with a friend. I havenโt done this one yet, but am seriously considering the spring half marathon here in Tucson. I was supposed to do it this past year, but didnโt since I went to LA instead for Gatorade. This one will be about 12 weeks after the baby is born, so Iโll walk/run it, but really want to add some running back into my routine. I miss the โex boyfriendโ โ itโs funny how you miss things when you canโt do them ๐ I ran a little first trimester, but it felt weird after a while so I stopped.
8. Scope out some new jeans for fall. This one happens on an almost daily basis. My pick for fall:
Love the cut, wash, length, everything ๐
9. Go out for a girls night ๐ Iโm lucky to be surrounded by girls in the squadron who always want to hang out-ย we did quite a few dinners and movie nights ๐
10. Eat a pizookie. This one actually didnโt happen! The Pilot and I were planning a pizookie date, and then he had to work late that night and we just didnโt go. I did have fondue this month, though ๐
So was your August Awesome?
Hereโs one more way for that to happen:
You see, I bought a boatload of macaroon supplies for HLS and didnโt have time to make them before our trip.
I love almonds, but I donโt think I need 3 lbs ๐
So Iโd love to make a custom batch of macaroons for a reader- any flavor: Meyer lemon lavender, blonde, chocolate, mocha, chocolate almond butter, super roon [Of course, other things may sneak their way into the package, too]

Yay roons!!!! I cant believe August is done already!! I wish i was home in jersey to experience the change of seasons instead of only having 2 seasons here in florida:(
Your blog is an integral part of my morning routine. Your workouts that I can do at home keep me sane. With a 3 year old toddler and a working partner there isn’t really too much time to go to the gym but I love that you have stuff that you can incorporate at home. I love the recipes. The Raw movement is yet to make an impact in Scotland but I’ve been hankering for a dehydrator since seeing your macaroons.
Plus your little pics of Tuscon makes me remember that not everywhere is dreary as here and that not everyone relies on a diet of deep fried mars bars.
Wishing you happy and healthy pregnancy
Claire
I would love to see a post about beauty products you use. I am wanting to start using more natural and/or vegan products and would love to see what you use on a daily basis!
Hope this isn’t too late to comment… I always think your ‘roons look so good, and I’d love to try some! I’ve really enjoyed reading about your pregnancy so far, and I think you’re going to make an excellent mom. Also, I think your relationship with The Pilot is adorable. When (if) I ever get married, I hope we’re as happy as you two are!
august was awesome for me too! but i am excited for september ๐ i love september’s weather, not too hot, not too cold!
Hi Gina, wow look how many comments you have on this post! You are a very popular blogger ๐
I’ve started reading your blog about 6 months ago and i really enjoy reading it. Must say that i have learned a lot reading your posts about fitness, food and your pregnancy. I hope that you will keep up the good work when the little princess is here, looking forward to read about your first adventures as a mother and your post-pregnancy work outs! Love from Holland X
I’m so excited for fall! Pumpkin, riding boots, layers, fall scented candles, apple picking…. gosh I love it so!
I would absolutely love to try your macroons! I’ve been gawking at them ever since I found your blog a year ago!
Would you ship to Sydney? Haha. Overseas for the year on a working holiday visa, but still following along. ๐
i ship worldwide ๐
I don’t like macaroons, but I do like taking my girls shopping for back to school. Even erasers can be fun when you are excited about seeing your friends again! And my older daughter is out of uniforms for the first time in 10 years so she is ALL ABOUT fashion now.
Yay a giveaway! I love the goal of picking up a new cookbook to try new things. I always forget about them.
I love the Family and Fashion posts…keep those coming!
I need a TON of help in the fashion department, so keep it coming! Thank you!!
I can’t believe summer is almost over. Next week the crazies of the school year start up. I can’t wait….but I’ll miss those lazy summer days.
Much of my August was spent wrapping up camp and getting ready for the new school year. Most of the children are back this week, and it makes me so happy to have the classrooms full again. Preschool starts next week, and I can’t wait to meet them all!
I went to Seasons 52 2 weeks ago and thought of you and your blog!
Feedback: can you write a book? : ) I’d buy it! But really, any posts that show how you stay motivated and keep up your routine and your positive attitude on a daily basis I find really helpful and love to read. Love your blog!
Hey Gina! It was nice to meet you at HLS. You are just as sweet in person as you seem on your blog. Love reading your blog!
Maybe today will be the lucky day I win some roons?? I need to organize my closet/clothes in the worst way! Also really bummed I didnt get to say hi at HLS! I did see you though (not to sound like a total creeper!) you were just always in the midst of conversation ๐

I would have to say Aug. was a good month but September is going to be AMAZING!!!
iI leave in 10 days to drive across America with my mother and land home in Alaska!!! i cant wait to be with my family again after 7 years being away!!!
I figure if I keep entering to win these infamous ‘roons, eventually I will win right?!!
Love love the fashion and family posts! Speaking of, any idea on watch trends for fall 2011??
Baby girls??? They ROCK!!!!!! (I have three of them although they’re not babies anymore, they are 5, 6, and 7!!)
Your blog is PERFECT. So enjoyable, honest and informative all at the same time-thanks for keepin it real!
Hope I’m not too late! Loving the belly pics, you are one adorable preggy lady! (will compliments get me extra luck to win? ๐ )
I love your blog. I live in Phoenix so it’s super nice that you’re in the same state. Love ya
I love reading all about your experience while being pregnant, and I can’t wait to find out what the babies name is going to be!!! ๐
August was awesome for me because I succesfully made a veggie burger from scratch! it was delicious ๐
I love the family and fashion posts!
Hey Gina,
So I started reading your blog after I had me son 22 months ago. I found you by searching Healthy Living Blogs ( I was trying to loose the baby weight)> And guess? what I did, all of it. Well, now I am preggo with #2 due next month and will continue to read your blog for ideas and inspriration.
Good luck with your little one!
I’ve been meaning to try my hand at the ‘roons for a while! Having some already made the hubby can try before I pick up the ingredients would be a very good thing (as eating an entire batch by myself would not!).
My August was awesome! There was trips to both coasts and I ran my second half marathon. September has it’s work cut out if it thinks it can top August!
I finally started losing weight again in August. First time in 2 years. I started acupuncture to treat my thyroid and it worked! no meds for me ๐
Whoops, I may be too late for this one, but might as well throw in my entry! August was awesome…I think? Honestly I’m not sure where it went! Irene was less awesome but I can’t complain. ๐
august was full of spoiling my nephew, cycling and discovering cacao powder.
I was wondering if your weight loss story is still posted on the site. It’s very inspiring ๐
here ya go! http://fitnessista.com/about/weight-loss-story/
My august was awesome! I started a new job, found new running trails, and signed up for two races in September!
