Boots, Fiona and Shrek

Helloooooo 😀 How was your Friday? Any big Halloween plans??

I have to say, I was beyond stoked when the boots I ordered arrived today…

028

I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!! Wish I could take credit for this purchase, but I have no fall fashion sense whatsoever (I’m a spring and summer girl, all the way). My dear Snackfacey sent me a link when she heard I was on a mission for new fall boots. I ordered them within 5 minutes of getting her email 😉 Now, what to wear them with?? Let’s just say I looked a little like a trainwreck trying them on with my sweat shorts 😉

I wasn’t the only one getting dressed up….

princessandshrek

Check out Princess Fiona and Shrek!

Bella haaaaaated her costume, especially the little cone hat.

bellaprincess

(The flash always makes her shut her eyes)

Surprisingly, Viesa had no prob wearing her T-shirt, which is a BIG deal since the pilot doesn’t let me dress her up. (Haha, pilot!)

I think she felt very cool 😀

They were showered with treats and cuddles after the 5 minutes of tormenting 😉

This afternoon was pretty mellow. I trained funny quotes lady, hit up the health food store (and re-stocked my almond butter stash! YESSSSSSS), went to Targizzle and to The Main Squeeze for a wheatgrass shot and a snack.

The plan was to eat half of this… but it tasted way too delicious and I was starvin’

probar

Oh Pro Bar, you’ve been missing in my life for far too long. These bars are glorious. Carb and calorie bombs (more like a meal replacement bar than a snack bar), but quite delicious and I love that they only contain real ingredients.

Needless to say, I spoiled my dinner a little with that one, but I did want to try these new-to-me Salmon Cake Bites.

salmoncakbites

Heated up in the oven for 9 minutes and paired with a little Amy’s ketchup.

salmonbites

Pretty tasty wasty. I’ll definitely be buying these again 😀

Since I’m still slightly under the weather, I’m gonna take tonight easy so I’ll be ready for tomorrow’s 5k. Maybe a little yoga and a movie in the near future 🙂

Have a wonderful night!

xoxo,

G

Are any of you dressing up your pets for Halloween, too? What are they going to be?

I want to try those salmon cakes!

My brother’s pup who I am visiting right now has the same monster costume as Viesa — love how it glows in the dark! Too adorable.

Aww, the puppies are so cute! I haven’t dressed my dog up yet but I’m thinking maybe next year 🙂 I’m feeling sort of sickly too, must be the season. Hope you feel better!

  3. VeggieGirl on October 30, 2009 at 6:54 pm

Chooey is going to be a pumpkin 😀

hahahahah wow…love the pets all dressed up. Princess fiona’s face says it all 😛

p.s i have an entire box of the maple pecan pro bars! Love em!

  5. Mama Pea on October 30, 2009 at 7:04 pm

OMG, we are cracking up over here! I’m usually against pet costumes, but those are the best ever. And for the record, when you said “Boots” in your title, I thought you meant Boots the Monkey. Time to lay off Dora the Explorer.

Cute boots! I am a bit of a boot addict myself, and am currently at around 8 pairs. They’re big and take over my closet but I love them. The key to fall fashion is really to layer, layer, layer! Take your cute summer dresses and stick leggings underneath and a warm scarf and cardigan on top.

I wish I had an animal to dress up. Those two are adorable!

    • Fitnessista on October 30, 2009 at 7:13 pm

i think that’s what my problem is– i’m not good at layering at all. i just end up looking slobby! so i’ll wear one layer of everything and freeze :/ i’m determined to learn though!

    Hi!
i love love love following what you eat- i had the breakfast cookie today and i looooved it- more than that i loved the way it felt as ‘fuel’ not bloaty and not too full — just perfect, i think that is why i came to hate breakfast in the first place.

    with that said,
i love your zuchinni/pasta tomato cheese dinner- however i have questions…

is this meal raw, do you blanch or do anything to the zuchini ? (don’t know how to spell zuchini)
    or is it made raw?

and the tomato sauce, do you have it prepped and ready to go or to you grind up some tomatoes on the the spot?

oh thank you thank you so much for leading the way for me in this new way of eating-

    wishes,

    mimi

      hey mimi,
thank you so much for reading my little blog 😀
      here’s the spiralizer i use: http://www.amazon.com/Joyce-Chen-Saladacco-Spiral-Slicer/dp/B0000DDVYE
usually i’ll eat the zucchini raw, but since it’s been colder and i’m craving more cooked food, i just sauteed it up.
the marinara was just organic marinara a la jar 😉 i just heated it in a glass bowl in the microwave. easy peasy 😀

  8. Diana on October 30, 2009 at 7:12 pm

    Ahaha they’re so cute 🙂
    Love the new boots!

Good luck with the 5k tomorrow! 🙂

Hi Gina! I have a couple questions about yoga for you. Do you think yoga can replace strength traiing? And also, do you think yoga actually tones muscles? Also, which form of yoga do you like best, bikram or ?

Thanks, love the blog as always! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 30, 2009 at 7:26 pm

      hey ashley,
for me, i don’t think yoga can replace strength training but i know it works for many people as a strength substitute. your body needs three types of training: strength, flexibility and cardio. i consider yoga to be more of a flexibility workout than a strength workout, even though i know it’s toning my muscles. it can definitely tone and help shape muscles, but i feel like there are different benefits from traditional weight training. also, i’m not a super experienced yogi. maybe when i get a little more hardcore it will change my mind??
i love bikram but also adore power vinyasa yoga. power yoga is probably my favorite because i get more of a cardio benefit from it as well– we’re constantly moving. i LOVE the heat in both types of yoga, too.
      hope this helps a little!

  13. Melissa S. on October 30, 2009 at 7:47 pm

btw, did you hear i’ll be back in fl in january!? i’ll be back but living in miami, but you now i’ll be up in o-town when time allows…:D

WHOA. I love love love those boots. I’m seriously fashion challenged, and I have such a hard time deciding which ones are cute! I always like them on other people, though. You’ve inspired me to try again this weekend!

    ADORABLE puppy costumes!

  15. theskinnyplate on October 30, 2009 at 8:03 pm

  18. Morgan on October 30, 2009 at 8:54 pm

My dog is going to be a banana. I’m putting up pics tomorrow. He hates it, and I think it’s the funniest thing ever

  19. sue on October 30, 2009 at 9:07 pm

the pups look adorable and the boots are HOT…love the light grey color!

  20. rhodeygirl on October 30, 2009 at 9:17 pm

RE: lunch rut. I am only in a lunch rut because I need to find a new winter lunch! I would LOVE to eat the same fabulous lunch every day but I can’t pick one yet! I am looking for a super healthy vegetable soup (maybe with beans?) that I can eat with a piece of whole wheat bread of a couple of crackers etc. every day. Between making breakfast and lunch for my hardworking hubs to bring to work everyday and then having to make my own breakfast, I’d rather just have an easy go to soup lunch!

  21. Kristin on October 30, 2009 at 9:23 pm

The puppers look SO cute in their outfits! My dog always dresses up as a pumpkin because I’m too cheap to buy him a different costume! 😀

Hope you are getting better these days !

  23. Erin on October 30, 2009 at 9:54 pm

Hot boots!! You could rock those with skinny jeans or purple tights and a brown skirt! Love the gray color too!

I seriously love Bella in these pictures. She is all like “MOM, WTF.”

  24. Jordana on October 30, 2009 at 9:55 pm

Wear your boots with skinny jeans tucked into ’em. I live in Utah where it’s already snowing and I wear boots pretty much everyday. Another really cute look is ankle boots with skinny jeans. Or boots with dresses always catches my eye!

  25. Kaye on October 30, 2009 at 10:59 pm

OMG! I bought those same EXACT boots online, and got them in the mail today! I totally tripped out over this!

  26. MissyMaintains on October 30, 2009 at 11:08 pm

Love the boots! Also I am in love with the doggy costumes! I have a slight obsession for Fiona ever since I won a Fiona doll out of a prize machine lol!

  27. Rebecca on October 30, 2009 at 11:37 pm

  30. The Pilot on October 31, 2009 at 2:53 am

My dogs!!! Ha, what did you do to them 😉 I guess it’s okay because your legs looks hot in the boots. You get away with it…this time

  31. The Voracious Vegan on October 31, 2009 at 4:15 am

I love the costumes! Those are two cute pups you’ve got, and they don’t look TOO miserable! I’ve been known to dress up a dog or two (or three) in the past and it always leads to me getting the stink eye from my sweet little dogs. They are not into it but they look SO cute, how can I help myself!?!?

    Good luck on the 5k!

  32. Kristin on October 31, 2009 at 7:56 am

OMG those costumes are too much!!!! I just told meghann, that Maddie took the award for best costume of the year – but I think she’s got some big competition in Bella!!! SO adorable Gina!! Happy Halloween!!! xoxo

  36. Erica on October 31, 2009 at 11:09 am

I love the boots AND I think you have a great fashion sense- you always look adorable! Cute puppers costumes. Franky never lets us dress him up. He was a crab one year and went crazy every time we put the costume on haha

  41. Carrie on November 1, 2009 at 11:29 pm

I am a day late, but the last pic of Bella and Viesa is beyond hilarious… they look like they are giving you a dirty look…they are too cute to be believed!!!

I put one of my husband’s white tanks on Ace, our American Bulldog, and a black and white bandana and a necklace so he could be a rapper. My 20-lb mutt hid under the bed until the costume danger passed. 🙂

  42. Kailey (SnackFace) on November 2, 2009 at 6:34 pm
