Five for fry-day
1. It’s definitely fry-day over here!
(Sorry for the bag pic, but I like my sp fries warm.. they taste better while driving)
I’m kind of a sweet potato fry connoisseur, and they’re a relatively new thing in Tucson. A few restaurants started offering them only a couple of years ago. The best are at Monkey Burger, but anywhere that serves sweet potato fries is a friend of mine
and so is anywhere that keeps up snowman decor year round, a la Create Cafe.
Create is a cozy deli, and they offer lots of veggie and gluten-free selections. I especially like the funky interior and fact that all of the chairs and lighting fixtures are different.
Turkey sandwich to go with the fries:
2. I’m in love with all of the Valentine’s-hued dresses, shoes and athletic gear… the roses, fuchsias and romantic accessories are rocking my world.
Also, the return of wedge shoes, crops and spring blazers makes me very happy.
3. One of the many exciting things about spring: new workout DVDs! Usually spring releases are pretty decent because fitness DVDs don’t tend to sell as well over the holidays.
One that I’m especially excited about:
The instructors in this DVD are friends of mine, so I can promise you it will be a good one 😉
4. To switch it up from the usual chocolate-covered strawberries, how about some cheesecake stuffed strawberries?
Yes, please. Maybe this will be a fun weekend experiment, using goat cream cheese.
5. I’ll never get sick of the scenery or the sunsets here <3
Any fun Valentine’s Day plans?
Who makes your favorite fry?
Mmm, I love sweet potatoes fries. There’s a local restaurant called Cafe Lola that are my favorite!
Are you loving eating deli meat again? The day after I had Ryan, I demanded a turkey sandwich and pretty much screamed listeria schmeria over again in my head as I chowed down 😉
YES! the fact that i don’t have to heat it and can eat it out of the fridge is amazing
I absolutely love sweet potato fries. No place near me makes them very well (down side to living in the country), but when I go out of town there’s a great place that serves great organic food where my in-laws live and I always stop there for some of their fries.
One of my friends grew up in Chandler and that is one of the things she misses the most about Arizona, the skies and the sunsets. It’s kind of dreary in the mid-Atlantic region, and when you’ve experienced the Southwest, nothing compares.
I Love Sweep Potato fries!! I think my favorite is a place in Fort Myers called Shoeless Joe’s! But I thing the honey mustard sauce is what makes them so so good!!
We are most likely going out for a later lunch on Valentine’s Day! I hate the dinner crowds! And it is our 26th Anniversary!! I’m thinking Snow crab legs!!
I havent had really good SP fries in a restaurant…that i can think of.
but Alexia, that frozen foods brand, has some chipotle flavored frozen SP fries that are delicious!
and smell the house up real good while theyre in the oven!
Mmmm..
Sweet potato fries are a favorite of mine!
I love all things Lululemon and all things pink!! Our Valentine’s day plans include a dinner date at the restaurant that hosted our rehearsal dinner. 🙂
Please tell me you dip your SP fries in Honey Mustard too! Girl, you are my hero.
Tomorrow in Milwaukee, we will have a high of 19 degrees. Please send some of your wedge and spring blazer weather our way!
mmmm sweet potato fries with chipolte dip. Yes please! There’s this place up north here ..it’s just a small pub, but it makes the best sweet tato fries 😀 I get them every time I go there!
I like my pickle fries. 🙂
Hope you, Livs and the Pilot have a great weekend!
I am pretty much obsessed with Alexia’s spicy sweet potato fries – I basically want to eat them everyday!! For Valentine’s Day, I’m going to dinner with all my single girl friends and we’re celebrating together with lots of margaritas 🙂
Ohhh, sweet potato fries. Be still my heart. There’s a restaurant back home in RI (Crazy Burger) that makes the best SP fries ever. I dream of them.
Those strawbs are delicious! I found them on pinterest a few months ago and made them goat cream cheese and gf cookie crumbs, and they turned out great! Have a good weekend 🙂
haha! I am eating SP fries as I read this! What a coincidence 🙂 They are new to me, just started eating them maybe 4 months ago and have been totally crazy for them ever since!
Cheesecake strawberries?! YUM.
I love sweet potato fries, but I am obsessed with In-N-Out fries. I get them extra crispy….oh dang!!
After living in the South for 6 years, that is the one thing I will never forget: sweet potato fries!
I agree a place that serves sweet potato fries is a winner! did u ever tried the Alexia brand? is really good and it takes only 15-20 minutes to make them! Love the snowman, I still have some Christmas lights on a lamp LOL can let go the season!! 🙂
Sweet potato fries are amazing. Funny enough, I’m not mad about regular fries, but sweet potato are a whole different ball game. I recently got the Alexia Chipotle Sweet Potato Fries in the freezer section and they are pretty legit.
I just tried on that dress today! LOVED it but I didn’t buy it. I went with another cute one and right now they are all 30% off!
arrrrr! i want the blue lululemon push ur limits the girl on the workout dvd is wearing!!! want. it. so. bad. ugh, i’ve had a “lulu” problem for yeeears! need help!
Those pink sandals are so adorable!! Thanks for sharing – I always seem to look on the same clothing/accessories websites and just see the same stuff over and over!
Sweet potato fries are definitely number one. But truffle fries come in at a close second. 🙂
Finally! How good is that DELI MEAT! 🙂 Awesome cafe, too.
If you live or ever visit near Kansas City, you have to check out Blanc Burger! Not only do they make delicious sweet potato fries, but they are famous for their truffle fries. They also have a variety of gourmet burgers including TWO different (really flippin’ delicious) vegan burgers! YUM.
Also, my special Valentines Day plans are to celebrate my birthday… V-Day baby right here =)
2nd the Blanc recommendation! They also have amazing meat burgers for carnivores. 🙂 We always get the combo SP & regular fries, along w/ an order of onion rings! Definitely a splurge date night, calorically speaking but totally amazing.
My husband & I are going out to the R-bar for Valentine’s day. A lovely little restaurant that we haven’t visited in a while.
I’m so excited for the return of wedge shoes, crops and spring blazers. Why is it that it that they just brighten my day =)
Sweet potato fries are amazing! I’m from Tucson (now living in Phoenix) and my favorite were from Zinburger. Although, I lived closer to Eclectic Cafe and they have yummy ones too 🙂
Happy weekend!
xx
Had some SP fries for dinner! Goat cream cheese?! Where would I find that little gem?
Trader joe’s!
oh man, those strawberries look amazing!!
Love sweet potato fries!!
Those cheesecake stuffed strawberries look delish!
And I love your “fry-day”. Looking good 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend and Valentine’s Day will be like any other night around here….nothing “fancy” but that’s okay!
Those strawberries would get my waistline into A LOT of trouble lol
I actually kind of like my sweet potato fries cold. 😀
This post is getting me so excited for spring… yet there is a snow storm going on outside my window. I keep on chanting to myself “Just a few more weeks, just a few more weeks”. 😛
I’m a not a big cream cheese fan, but the idea of stuffing strawberries with goat cream cheese sounds brilliant! I’ll definitely have to try that soon. 🙂
I just made those strawberries for a Super Bowl party. They were a hit!B
I love sweet potato fries, especially when they are warm! And, that express dress, super cute!
I love sweet potato fries, but it seems pretty hard to find them around where I live.
And I love the idea of those cheesecake stuffed strawberries. I’d love to make those for my boyfriend – he’s the hugest berry AND cheesecake fan that I know!

What is the sauce with the sweet potato fries?
curry aioli!
Sweet potato fries are my favorite! I eat them with honey mustard too 🙂
wait…. CURRY AOILI!? I’ve clearly been missing out.
gina you probably don’t even remember me from foodbuzz last year but thanks for the shout out on the cheesecake stuffed strawberries! 🙂 let me know if you give them a try!
Aaaaaaaaaaand now I want SP fries.
