The latest ‘fix

Hi friends! Howโ€™s the morning going? A little later to the blog today because I had a doc appointment. It feels like the week has been full of those, but itโ€™s Thursday already so not complaining. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Popsicles and bubbles on the porch:

Popsicles

(Just coconut water, pineapple chunks and mint. Fast to make and super refreshing)

Yesterday afternoon, I was feeling pretty zonked and kind of out of it. Liv and I came home and there was a Stitch Fix (<โ€” referral link) box waiting on the porch. It still feels like Christmas when that happens, and was a nice little pick-me-up.

Latest fix

I had a few boxes that were kind of โ€œmeh,” and the last box I received was awesome. So was this one! Iโ€™m still on the fence on a couple of pieces, but I thought Iโ€™d share the goods and maybe you can help me decide?? It was also my first time receiving two maternity pieces. Usually in stores, I have a hard time finding maternity clothes that fit well -I feel like theyโ€™re all designed for tall people, but thankful for the awesome lines at HM and the gap– but I was excited that these all fit.

Hereโ€™s what was in the box:

1) Brixon Ivy Diaz Embroidery & Crochet Detail Cotton Top (similar here)

Embroidered top 1 of 1

Keep! I love boho and embroidered tops for summer, especially with jean shorts and sandals. My jean shorts are MIA -I have no clue where they are- so hopefully they show up sometime soon haha. I can tell this one will be getting a lot of wear.

2) Loveappella Firenze Long Sleeve Maternity Top (similar here)

Maternity top 1 of 1

Keep! At first, I was like, โ€œWell this is just a plain ruched-side maternity top,โ€ but then I thought about how much I use and wear solid tops. I also happened to have the exact outfit as one of the style cards (white jeans + cheetah flats) and really liked the combo. The style cards are really helpful when I get an item to try on and am not quite sure how to mix it with pieces I already own.

3) Loveappella Mikah Maternity Dress (similar here)

Maternity dress 1 of 1

Keep! This is definitely a little dark for spring and seems like to much fabric happening for now (key words โ€œfor nowโ€ haha), but I love that itโ€™s a classic black, casual dress that can be dressed up or down. Itโ€™s also nursing-friendly, so I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it this fall.

4) Eight Sixty Ariana Printed Midi Skirt

Printed skirt 1 of 1

I have no idea.

It feels like a DREAM -so light and comfy- but Iโ€™m not sure how flattering it will be as things progress. I had been wanting a midi skirt, but feel like the print might be a little too much happening.

Printed skirt 1 of 1 2

5) Bancroft Leighton Metal Bauble Necklace

Bauble necklace

Return. I like the classic gold, but tend to prefer smaller and daintier necklaces.

All in all, I think it was a great fix! I think one of the best things about Stitch Fix is that I receive pieces that I would never find or think to try on my own. Itโ€™s definitely been good for stepping out of the comfort zone a bit!

If youโ€™re curious about giving Stitch Fix a try, hereโ€™s my first post ever and some past fixes:

Stitch Fix wins

More wins

Some tanks and a dress Iโ€™m still loving

Some tips for getting the most out of your fix:

-Request specific pieces. If I see them post something on Instagram (or another blogger receives something I love), Iโ€™ll make note of the title and ask for it or something similar in an upcoming fix. In the past, Iโ€™ve been really specific, like โ€œblack maxi dress, denim jacket, printed shortsโ€ etc.

-Pin clothes that you love. I pin outfits and style ideas on my Style board, and linked to it in my Stitch Fix profile. If Iโ€™m looking for something similar to an item Iโ€™ve pinned, Iโ€™ll include the link in the request form.

-Give detailed feedback. If you donโ€™t love something they send, make sure to indicate why in the comments section. Iโ€™ll be specific if I wasnโ€™t feeling a certain print, fabric of style.

Have you tried Stitch Fix or anything similar? Preggo + patterned midi skirt = yay or nay? Any spring or summer pieces youโ€™ve found that you love, or trends that youโ€™re happy about? I was pretty stoked to see espadrilles come back in! I have my eyes on these ones

Hope you have a lovely night!

xoxo

Gina

In full transparency, I paid for the above items using Stitch Fix credit from referrals to the brand over the past couple of years. Thank you sincerely for your support! Iโ€™m so happy that many of you have tried it and love it as much as I do <3

Aw, I would keep that necklace! Would look good with the navy top or black dress.

I would defiantly return the skirt. In the first pic you look like you are laying down your picnic blanket.

    The rest is great though.

    • Melissa on April 16, 2015 at 3:36 pm

I was going to use the picnic blanket analogy too but couldn’t think of a way to put it…

      • Fitnessista on April 16, 2015 at 3:37 pm

i was going to write that when i typed up this post, but i was like “it’s too much” haha

        • Andrea Gubert on April 16, 2015 at 4:21 pm

Love the necklace!! Would not wear the skirt, personally.

        • lindsey on April 17, 2015 at 8:39 am

Aw, I really like the skirt and would toooooooootttally wear it! Picnic dropcloth references be damned! ๐Ÿ˜€

          • lindsey on April 17, 2015 at 8:39 am

but also, you look FANTASTIC in that black dress!!

    • Fitnessista on April 16, 2015 at 3:38 pm

      hahah you’re right!!

  2. Melissa on April 16, 2015 at 3:35 pm

I love the pieces that you chose to keep! I vote “no” on the midi skirt—the style is super cute but I’m thinking of the wear-ability of the print….

    • Fitnessista on April 16, 2015 at 3:37 pm

i agree. i wish the print were different

  3. Jenn on April 16, 2015 at 3:37 pm

I loved everything but the skirt!

  4. Christabel on April 16, 2015 at 3:42 pm

I hope Stitch Fix starts including plus sizes soon. I’m right on the border, a size 16, but also tall so I’m waiting until they can really include my size. (I know they have a few 14/16 things now)

The skirt is cute but I think it would be cuter if it were shorter and less billowy. Everything else is darling!

  5. Amber on April 16, 2015 at 3:43 pm

I actually vote yes on the skirt! It is very in now and think with a solid top it would be super cute! I also think it looks great on you.

    • Meagan on April 17, 2015 at 6:03 am

I agree- I like it in the second picture, especially with those shoes and a solid top. Definitely different, though! ๐Ÿ™‚

Random- you used to have a Fashion link on the blog where readers could see all your fashion-related posts in one spot (like the Family page). Is that gone? Is there a way to search for them (specific tag, etc). I LOVE your Fashion posts!

      • queenoffitness on April 17, 2015 at 2:49 pm

I also agree with these two girls! Perhaps you could take the skirt to a seamstress and have it altered or hemmed a bit. I do that all the time. I also think it would look better with pointy toe shoes (red is a suggestion…I love a red pointy toe pump) to elongate your legs more. Also, maybe try a white v-neck or a moto jacket on top. Gina, you could wear a paper sack and look beautiful.

I adore the white top!! So glad you kept it ๐Ÿ™‚ #winner

  7. Britt@MyOwnBalance on April 16, 2015 at 4:01 pm

Super cute! I wish they had maternity stuff when I was pregnant!

  8. Tiffany on April 16, 2015 at 4:03 pm

Love the embroidered top! But not the skirt. I’m sorry but it reminds me of table cloth at an Italian restaurant lol!

Yum to the Popsicles! Sounds delicious! Xoxo

    • Fitnessista on April 16, 2015 at 4:05 pm

that’s what i thought, too. or a picnic blanket haha ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Ashley on April 16, 2015 at 4:16 pm

I’d return the skirt. I like the cut and style, but the fabric is too much! Especially as pregnancy bump progresses…just no. If it were the same exact thing but different fabric I’d really be on the fence, because it is a super cute cut. Just can’t get over the picnic table cloth thing!

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2015 at 5:01 pm

yeah i ended up sending it back. it’s a little much on the print

  10. Sara Jackson on April 16, 2015 at 4:25 pm

I know this is unrelated, but I didn’t know where to post it. I’m a big fan of your blog, so I know you really like dance workouts. I wanted to give you a heads up that Beachbody announced that Shaun T will have a dance workout program coming out!! It’s called ‘cize. Here’s a link to their promotional video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYC2JpMJJFY I’m not a Beachbody coach, so I’ll wait until there are enough reviews about it before I consider buying it. It looks pretty cool though. If you end up buying it, then please review it!

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2015 at 5:55 pm

      this looks AMAZING

  11. jaclyn on April 16, 2015 at 4:36 pm

where did you get your shoes? ps i know the skirt is a little different… but it is really flattering on you and i think you should keep it!

    • Theodora on April 18, 2015 at 12:46 pm

Agreed! The skirt looks super cute on you and is definitely unique.

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2015 at 5:55 pm

thank you! the shoes are just fab ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me on April 16, 2015 at 4:46 pm

I love Stitch Fix reviews! I would never use the service myself as I enjoy shopping too much, but the nosy side of me likes to peek into others wardrobes. ๐Ÿ™‚ I LOVE the Ariana Printed Midi skirt and I totally think you should keep it!

  13. Stephanie on April 16, 2015 at 5:10 pm

That skirt would be FABULOUS for certain occasions!! Compared to some things people wear, I don’t think the print is out there at all. It’s geometric and colorful and those are both in style right now. I would say go for it!

  14. Molly D on April 16, 2015 at 6:24 pm

I might be alone but liked the skirt. Kind of a nice change from polka dots and very unique. But my rule is if you don’t love it right away, you won’t long-term ๐Ÿ™‚ So return it!

  15. Robin on April 16, 2015 at 6:38 pm

I’ve also had “meh” Stitch Fixes. I’ve tried it only recently after friends raved. I love love love your white top and would definitely return the skirt. The length is a bit weird IMHO.

  16. Danica @ It's Progression on April 16, 2015 at 6:39 pm

I love those first three pieces the best. I didn’t realize Stitch Fix is doing maternity wear now!

  17. Andrea on April 16, 2015 at 6:51 pm

yum those popsicles look great! where’d you get the holders?

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2015 at 5:56 pm

      target!

  18. Erin @ Her Heartland Soul on April 16, 2015 at 8:40 pm

I love that blue top, white pants, leopard flats combo! I’m not really feeling the skirt. A midi skirt would look great on you but this one seems very picnic blanket-esque.

  19. Jessica on April 16, 2015 at 8:52 pm

I don’t really love the skirt itself…. I wouldn’t give it a second glance in a store, but I think that you pull it off really well and I like the pieces you paired it with. I guess I’m not much help ๐Ÿ˜€

  20. Lindsey on April 16, 2015 at 8:58 pm

I love the crochet top! I would return the skirt – reminds me of a picnic blanket.

  21. Lisa O on April 16, 2015 at 10:58 pm

You look so gorgeous in the black dress, I had a couple of dresses like that for my pregnancy last year which I loved on date nights. You are glowing, lady! x

  22. Goldie on April 16, 2015 at 11:37 pm

I wondered if you might post about how you manage/managed when Tom was away with work. Im going to be in the same situation and im so worried how I’ll cope!x

  23. Neiry on April 16, 2015 at 11:42 pm

I unashamedly luhhhh dat damn skirt ๐Ÿ™‚ But if you ain’t diggin’ it, you won’t wear it. That’s what happens with me, at least.

  24. Carolyn Allen Russell on April 16, 2015 at 11:51 pm

STITCH FIX OFFERS MATERNITY CLOTHES??? I had no idea! I did it a few times with moderate success but stopped when I found out I was pregnant. Now I might need to sign back up for a new fix! ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. April on April 17, 2015 at 4:13 am

Wow, you really did get a good fix! My last few have been ‘meh’ so I took a break – may have to pick it back up, Spring is always good for that:)
I actually LOVE the necklace and think it would look fab on you – i know you prefer ‘smaller’, but try it out and you may love the chunkier styles. If you wear the necklace, you won’t need any other jewelry.
The skirt, hmmmm if you don’t feel comfortable in it, then you won’t wear it – but i do think you can pull it off if you want:=

  26. Nikki on April 17, 2015 at 5:41 am

I absolutely like that skirt. The thing is, it’s so memorable that if you wear it once with a group of friends, will you be wearing it with them again? Do you have a special even to attend?

  27. Erin @ Erin's Inside Job on April 17, 2015 at 5:59 am

The skirt reminds me of a picnic. I like the length of it, but maybe a different pattern? Everything else is super cute!

  28. AmyW on April 17, 2015 at 7:01 am

Keep the skirt! Looks great especially with the blue top and brown sandels. Just darling!

  29. Jess on April 17, 2015 at 7:05 am

I am so boring conservative at times, but I love the navy top and black maternity dress! Love a black maternity dress when you are expecting, I bet it will come in handy for sure!

  30. Nour @ Kale and Coconuts on April 17, 2015 at 7:33 am

You have to keep the skirt! it’s looks amazing on you! I agree about the necklace–return.

  31. Julie on April 17, 2015 at 9:00 am

You look gorgeous in everything, but I’m just not a fan of that skirt. When I 1st saw the pic (before I opened the post), I thought you were dressing up as Minnie Mouse. Sorry. ๐Ÿ˜›

  32. Caitlin on April 17, 2015 at 9:07 am

    KEEP the skirt! So cute!

  33. Randi on April 17, 2015 at 12:17 pm

I would not keep the picnic skirt .On another note, your hair is gorgeous!

  34. Cassie Vaughn on April 17, 2015 at 12:51 pm

I was having a hard time finding reasonably priced maternity wear that was also cute. Zulily has been great! The clothes are super comfy, soft, fit well, and were priced awesome!

  35. Jessica on April 17, 2015 at 5:39 pm

On a non-stitch fix related note- where are those fab sandals from?

  36. Jules on April 18, 2015 at 12:05 pm

Not pregnant, still want that black dress! I too wonder about how you would style a skirt like that pregnant though- above the bump? Would that make it look weirdly high/low? I say pass, midi skirts are easy to come by in every color and pattern of your choosing if you change your mind.
