Chick-a-palooza

Hi guys 😀 How’s your day going??

I’m SO EXCITED that ya’ll like the Intro to Iron Pumping! Please let me know if you give the workouts a try and what you think 😀 I know Caitlin tried the workout this morning and already felt a burn. Awesome 🙂

Speaking of awesome, so was breakfast 😀
bfast

A BREAKFAST COOKIE! Atop a cupcake plate.

This baby had:

-1/2 cup oats

-1 small banana

-almond milk

-1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-1 T almond butter

T’was face rocking 😀

After bfast, I hit up the gym with Jeni and Ashley for legs.

Supine pilates hip lifts Body weight 3 sets of 12 on each side
Lunges Body weight 3 sets of 12 on each side
Squat jumps 4 lbs 3 sets of 12
Leg extension 35 lbs 3 sets of 12
Hip abductor 50 lbs 3 sets of 12
Prone hamstring curl 50 lbs 3 sets of 12
Bosu calf raises Body weight 3 sets of 15

When I got home, it was protein time.

tofu

The rest of last night’s tofu block with coconut aminos, cayenne and garlic powder. I ate it raw because I’ve been in a rush all day cooking is for suckas 😉

Next, I got dinner ready for the pilot so that it will be ready for him when he’s done flying and fill the house with a pleasant aroma.

meatballs

Doesn’t look like much right now, but that’s marinara sauce and meatballs (all organic). Hopefully the pilot will take a pretty pic of his dinner, since I’ll be at work. I’ll also post the recipe soon for ya’ll because it was super easy 😀 For me, I’m going to take brown rice pasta and veggies to munch after Zumba on the way to work.

The madness continues:

-training appointment (have already done 2 today)

-Pilates

-Teach Zumba

-one more training appointment

The madness also continues at the Chick Fil-A that’s about to open….

Yes, those are TENTS! People are camping out until it tomorrow’s grand opening. My Twitter friends told me that apparently you get free chicken for a year if you’re one of the first customers? Even if I ate chicken (which I don’t), I’m not sure I could roll like that 😉

Well I’m off!

See ya tonight 😀

    • Fitnessista on January 13, 2010 at 3:33 pm

  4. Jessica @ How Sweet on January 13, 2010 at 3:36 pm

I think Chick Fil A is so gross! But I don’t like chicken very much. I NEED that cupcake plate!! That would complete me!

  5. Sara on January 13, 2010 at 3:37 pm

Camping outside Chick Fil A…now that’s a new concept. I think the only thing I’d ever camp out for is for Chanel handbags put on sale for $200.

    • Fitnessista on January 13, 2010 at 3:37 pm

i’d be right there with you 🙂

  6. Lily @ Lily's Health Pad on January 13, 2010 at 3:38 pm

Chick fil A is some good stuff!

Can you make a breakfast cookie with quick oats? Or do you have to make it with old fashioned?

    • Fitnessista on January 13, 2010 at 3:41 pm

i’m pretty sure you can do it with either 🙂

  7. Marshall on January 13, 2010 at 3:39 pm

I passed by there earlier and was amazed! I’ve never had Chick Fil A, I can’t imagine that it’s that good!

  8. brittney on January 13, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Those tents are too funny. Wow.

  9. Rose on January 13, 2010 at 3:43 pm

    Free chicken for life? Wow.

  10. Roro (AmazonChick) on January 13, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Only in Valdosta you can see people camp outside for some chicken that they can make at home.

    • Fitnessista on January 13, 2010 at 3:49 pm

      for real, right??

  11. Ashley on January 13, 2010 at 3:46 pm

I absolutely love tofu as well! When you ate it, you didn’t cook it? Did that taste good? I need some different ways to cook tofu– all i usually do is put soy sauce on it! It’s good, but I need some variety 🙂

  12. Jessica @ Dairy Free Betty on January 13, 2010 at 3:57 pm

That is CRAZY!! I googled it because I had NO idea what it was… people are NUTS!!!!!!!!!!

    Have a great day!

  13. BethT @ Pretty By The Bay on January 13, 2010 at 4:25 pm

    Oh, the south. 🙂

I can’t wait to try the workout you created for Caitlin!

  14. Sammi on January 13, 2010 at 4:26 pm

I would only camp out at Chik Fil-A for free ice cream cones for year! They are quite dreamy 😉
I don’t know how you can eat tofu like that.. the texture gets to me.. and I wish it didn’t because I am vegetarian so hating tofu is not good!

  15. Sammi on January 13, 2010 at 4:27 pm

    ice dream cones**

  16. Paige (Running Around Normal) on January 13, 2010 at 4:28 pm

Ooh, I’ve never tried calf raises on the bosu! Sounds intense 😀
Those crazies at chick – fil – a! I guess chicken for a year is a pretty good deal if that’s your thing, though.

  17. Monique on January 13, 2010 at 4:33 pm

lmao at people on line for free chicken… well we are in a recessioN! tee hee!

seeing the word lunges and squats makes my legs hurt!

    but awesome workout!

  18. Gracie @ Girl Meets Health on January 13, 2010 at 4:47 pm

hahaha I just recently heard about that Chick-Fil-A thing! I’ll admit it – I’m a huge fan of Chick-Fil-A 😉 But like you said, I’d never camp out to win the food! If it was for a year of free peanut butter or pancakes, well that’s a different story!

  19. Island Girl Eats on January 13, 2010 at 5:44 pm

You are such good wife getting dinner ready for your husband! What a nice dinner to come home to.

I can not believe that people are camping out! That is crazy. We don’t have one of those where we live. But we do have KFC. I have not eaten there in years. Last time I ate there (about 5 years ago) I had a very unpleasant 24 hours!!! It was a good thing that my husband was away! I was not nice to be around!!!!! LOL.

  20. Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen on January 13, 2010 at 5:58 pm

unfortunately i could TOTALLY do chickfila for a year…probably a good thing there’s not a new one going up by me!

  21. elyse on January 13, 2010 at 6:11 pm

We have a Chick-Fil-A by us and it’s actually pretty good. It just depends on what you order. I have friends that have waited 24 hours because you get free food coupons that will last you a year. It’s worth it if you eat there a lot (: Plus if you go with friends it’s a fun experience to stay all night!

  22. Naomi (onefitfoodie) on January 13, 2010 at 6:38 pm

omg! I cannot believe that those people are camping out! thats insane! I have never tried chick-fil-a so I guess I dont know the Hype about it. I love your attidude about the cardio and weights. As a trainer I tell people this ALL the time too. Cardio will make you ‘smaller’ but weights is what gives you that tone! great tips!!

  23. Emily on January 13, 2010 at 7:11 pm

Holy smokes! People are camping out for Chick-Fil-A? That is really strange to me.

Question for you: Where do you purchase the sun warrior protein? I read your blog on a regular basis (love it) and want to try this breakfast cookie you speak so highly of!

    Thanks!

      i got it on amazon.com 🙂

  24. Stephanie on January 13, 2010 at 7:24 pm

    Hey Gina!
I did the legs workout you posted today and really enjoyed it (I have not strength trained in…a long time). I don’t have my exercise ball so I had to improvise a few things. I look forward to try doing all three sets of the same exercise next time like you recommended. The last move of the legs workout, the straight leg pullover crunch was so freaking HARD! It hurt my back to do so I didn’t use weights and didn’t drop my legs down all the way. Am I doing something wrong? Or is my core just really weak? Can’t wait to see the winter shape up!

    • Fitnessista on January 13, 2010 at 9:34 pm

you might be relying on your back to get you up.. try it with a very light weight (3 lbs) and think “abs” as you crunch up

  25. simpledaisy on January 13, 2010 at 7:55 pm

Oh my gosh…that is crazy that people camp our for Chick-Fil-A!!!
    Who knew?!?!?

  26. Lexi on January 13, 2010 at 7:55 pm

LOVE the breakfast cookie! I think that might be the best one I’ve ever seen!

  27. Marissa on January 13, 2010 at 8:00 pm

  28. Lauren @ eater not a runner on January 13, 2010 at 8:15 pm

    • Fitnessista on January 13, 2010 at 9:32 pm

      YES. sadly, haha

  29. Melissa S. on January 13, 2010 at 8:18 pm

I’m so excited for the strength training workout in a few days! i know i’m going ot feel the burn too.

  30. BridgetP on January 13, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Isn’t it funny how crazy people get when something new opens? In two months none of those people will even notice the Chick-Fil-A!

  31. Lauren on January 13, 2010 at 8:51 pm

Chic-Fil-A came to our neck of the woods this year too! It was bigger than American Idol coming to town. My family is quite obsessed with this place and even stood in line for hours to try to get the free chic-fil-a for a year for the 1st 100 people.

If I ate chicken, I would probably enjoy the hype. 🙂 The milkshakes are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! 🙂

  32. Run Sarah on January 13, 2010 at 8:56 pm

WTF? Camping out for a year! I wouldn’t do that for Chic-Fil-A…but Starbucks? I might consider!

  33. Morgan @ Healthy Happy Place on January 13, 2010 at 8:58 pm

people are camping out for Chik-fil-a?? that is MESSED UP! It’s just greasy fast food like the rest of ’em

  34. Ana on January 13, 2010 at 9:11 pm

    Hi gina,
I recently started reading your blog and its great! I am so motivated and I am eager to make the b-fast cookie. I am ready for the winter shape up!!

    • Fitnessista on January 13, 2010 at 9:25 pm

whoo hoo! i’m so glad you’ll be joining us 😀

  35. elizabeth on January 13, 2010 at 9:12 pm

omg that is disgusting about chik-fil-a. i thought it was bad when people camped out for nike kicks….

  36. fittingbackin on January 13, 2010 at 9:27 pm

I definitely couldn’t do it! (camping out for chicken) I wouldn’t even write my name down first on the girl scout cookie list in my breakroom – I hate stuff like that! haha

It’s cute plate day at your casa – love it!

  37. Danielle (Coffee Run) on January 13, 2010 at 10:20 pm

Wow, I’ve never thought of eating tofu raw? It would probably save a lot of time!
And camping out for a chicken sandwich? I mean…come on

  38. Katie on January 13, 2010 at 10:30 pm

    Hey Gina,

I want to start going to a local gym and since you are the Fitnessista, I thought I would ask your advice. I have looked up the local gyms on the internet and I have narrowed it down to two. I am really looking for a place with group fitness (like yoga, aerobics, pilates, etc). But, I also want to utilize the machines (eliptical, treadmill, etc). I was thinking about going to one of the places tomorrow after school to check it out and maybe purchase a day pass to try the place out. The only thing is, I am nervous. I am nervous to go and try the machines with the possibility of looking like a retard. I have used minimal gym equipment, things like a stability ball, treadmill, bike, and some weight machines. I don’t really know where to start! Do you have any tips or tricks for a beginner like myself?

    Thanks so much!

    • Fitnessista on January 13, 2010 at 10:51 pm

      katie!
      DON’T BE NERVOUS!
have fun! i promise that you will be able to go in there and do your thang. most beginners are worried that other gym-goers are going to look at them and judge.. to be honest, everyone at the gym is way to worried about their own workout than to care about what others are doing.
just go in there, have a plan of what you want to do, and have fun 🙂
      you can do it!

      • Katie on January 14, 2010 at 6:47 am

Thanks for the pep talk! I’m going to do it and try to have fun. 🙂 I will let you know how it turns out.

        • Fitnessista on January 14, 2010 at 9:18 am

          please do!

  39. Melissa on January 13, 2010 at 10:34 pm

I looooove anything and everything cupcakes so your plate caught my eye. Super super cute. And great leg workout. I’ll probably borrow some of your moves!

  40. Whole Body Love on January 13, 2010 at 10:49 pm

People camped out when the new Chik-Fil-A opened here as well. We have at least 20 in a 10 mile radius though!

  41. Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) on January 13, 2010 at 10:52 pm

I cannot believe they’re camping out for chicken…however, I’d do it for a year of almond butter. 🙂

  42. Melissa (Melissa Likes To Eat) on January 13, 2010 at 11:26 pm

I’ve never had Chick Fil A before….I must be missing out. 🙂 Gina…I took my first Zumba class today and it was awesome! What a fun way to burn calories. I didn’t have the smoothest moves but I had such a great time!

  43. Jaclyn on January 13, 2010 at 11:48 pm

what kind of tofu do you use?

  44. Susan on January 14, 2010 at 2:32 am

Oh wow that’s mad people are camping outside a take out/fast food restaurant! Your iron workouts are great but I was wondering if I did the workouts at home how could I do workout one and what should I substitute for the tricep cable extension?

  45. Laura S on January 14, 2010 at 8:05 am

    Hey Gina

I tried the arm work out last nightand I loved it! I love the variety with using the machines and then the free weights! Keep the workouts coming 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2010 at 9:18 am

whoo hoo! i’m so happy you liked it 🙂

  46. Liza on January 14, 2010 at 8:07 am

    Hi Gina,

I read somewhere on a body building forum that cardio does not burn fat. Do you mind clarifying this up? I understand that a healthy diet is a major factor in getting a great body, but I wanna make sure I’m doing what’s right to, as you said, “srhink” and “tone” the body. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2010 at 9:18 am

cardio doesn’t technically get rid of fat because the fat cells will always be there
cardio helps to shrink fat cells

  47. Linda on January 14, 2010 at 8:35 am

    Hi Gina,

I always get stuck in a total cardio rut. I typically do yoga twice a week, but always fail to incorporate any additional strength training. I LOVE that you put together a plan that can be done 3 times a week. I tried the first set you posted yesterday and it was a great start. I did two sets of 12 and already felt the burn. I thought the stability ball leg lifts were going to kill me…in a good way, ofcourse. Thanks so much for posting such great information!!!

    Linda

    • Fitnessista on January 14, 2010 at 9:17 am

      hey linda,
that’s awesome- i’m so happy you like it so far!

  48. Lisa on January 14, 2010 at 8:40 am

I like Chick Fil A, but not worth camping out for chicken! It’s already the 4th one in this county. Your cookie and pilot’s dinner looks delish.

  49. Jennifer on January 14, 2010 at 8:56 am

Chick-Fil-A isn’t thaaaat bad, but I sure as hell wouldn’t be camping out in front for days just to get free chicken for a year! I read that the Chick-Fil-A-Heads (or whatever they are called!) will travel hundreds of miles to all the grand openings just to do this! Loco!!!!
