Episode 031: Bikini Body Mindset with Emily Field, RD

Download the transcript here.

Emily Field is a registered dietitian who wants to help you end food confusion. She teaches a macro-based, balanced eating approach so you can protect metabolism, gain lean strong muscle, lose body fat in a stress free way. Iโ€™ve worked with Emily for about a year now, and she completely transformed the way I think about nutrition and how I fuel my body. Iโ€™m eating more, Iโ€™m not hangry, I donโ€™t suffer from energy crashes, and Iโ€™ve gained some lean muscle since I started working with her.

Emily is the REAL DEAL and provides so much incredible free content to her audience, including nutrition tips on Instagram, low-cost downloadables available on her website, and offers group coaching opportunities and one-on-one coaching opportunities.

Since summer is here, weโ€™re chatting all about Bikini Body Mindset.

During this time of year, weโ€™re flooded with messaging about โ€œsummer bodies,โ€ โ€œfitting into our bikinis,โ€ and extreme summer diet plans. This messaging can make women feel even more pressure to make unrealistic changes for physical results. In this episode, Emily and I chat about the Bikini Body mindset and how itโ€™s really a mental state instead of a physical trait, and how small acts of self care can be used to boost confidence.

In this episode, we talk about:

– How to avoid falling for these marketing gimmicks

– How to create a self care routine

– What to do if listeners are considering a drastic move with their fitness and nutrition

– How macro tracking fits into a balanced eating approach

and an โ€œAsk the RDโ€ segment with the following topics:

– Ideal pre- and post-workout fuel (+ my worst race advice ever haha)

– How do you heal your metabolism?

– Her thoughts on Intermittent Fasting for weight loss or fat loss

– Foods she recommends for PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)

Find Emily Field RD on her website and check out her Instagram here. If youโ€™re curious about WHAT your nutrient needs are and want to get started tracking macronutrients, her Macros Guide is for you. She’ll help you calculate your protein, fat and carbohydrate needs based on a few questions about your health history, workout of choice, food preferences and more. Get the Macro Guide here.

Hey Gina! I’m glad the podcast is back! While I was listening to this episode, it made me think of the Beauty Redefined ladies. I follow them on Instagram (@beauty_redefined) and love their message – their tagline is “your body is an instrument, not an ornament.” My daughter is just 6 months old, but I’m trying to keep this in mind as we raise her! I think it’d be awesome if you’re able to have them on the podcast sometime – I think your ideologies really line up, and I’d love to hear more from them. Thanks again for all that you do!!
