Hawaiian faves

Aloha!

My fiancé and I have been talking major wedding plans this week. One thing we’re super excited for…honeymoon! Though it’s a year away, I can’t help but start thinking about lying on the beach with my husband (!) and swimming in the crystal clear ocean. My online shopping carts are overflowing with tropical inspired dresses and swimsuits, and since it IS summer and vacation season, I figured I’d share some of my favorites!

Some of my favorite places to shop for Hawaiian prints are linked above, so check them out!

I hope all of your summers are off to a great start. The fiancé and I are accepting any honeymoon suggestions, so please send them our way 🙂

My husband and I got married in July, and we went to Jamaica! Absolutely recommend it. The resort we stayed at was Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay. All-inclusives are the way to go!

I second that! We went on a pre-wedding trip just to destress from work and all the planning and stayed at Sandals Ocho Rios. Fantastic! I’d recommend our honeymoon spot – Costa Rica – except if you’re getting married in the summer it will be rainy season. If you have the chance to take a trip during dry season…its a MUST!

We hit up Jamaica on our cruise! There were a lot of newlyweds on the cruise too so it was fun to hang with them too.

Just got home from Belize, it was absolutely amazing, such wonderful people and you can’t beat the beauty there! Would go back in a heartbeat!

That’s where we went on our honeymoon! I felt like it was the perfect place to escape without being to o “commercial”. We spent our days chilling by the beach, in the pool, or in a hammock. Loved it and can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I just went on our honeymoon last month. We went to Hawaii and it was AMAZING! We stayed in Waikiki and I did not want to leave 🙂 There is so much to do and yet it’s incredibly relaxing all at once. Now I am obsessed with everything Hawaii, especially fashion!

Adorable dresses! I helped Gina and Tom with their Sandals getaway a few years back – I’d love to work with you and Kyle on your HONEYMOON (!!) – heather@classtvl.com 🙂

My fiance and I are going to Thailand! The more I read about it, the more excited I get. 🙂 Strikes me as somewhere you would prob like too! Supposed to have some of the prettiest beaches in the world!

My husband & I are planning (hoping!) to take a trip to Hawai’i in the fall! We met on the Big Island in college, & haven’t been back in 10 years. We had a destination wedding/honeymoon in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It was beautiful, but I’m a scaredy cat about Mexico these days, & would probably not go back right now. We did a trip to Belize 2 years ago (right before getting preggo), & it was amazing. Def would go there if I was planning a honeymoon right now. We stayed here on South Water Caye & it was perfect: http://www.pelicanbeachbelize.com/general/pelican-beach-south-water-caye-2.html

    Happy Planning!

I’ll be the oddball here, my husband and I went to Colorado for our HM. We are very outdoorsy, so we went hiking, white water rafting, cave spelunking.. you name it! We went at the end of June, and it was a perfect time to be there. The temps and weather were fantastic. 🙂 We stayed in Vail, but did a bunch or driving around in all different directions.

I live in Hawaii and my husband and I are actually roadtripping in California and Arizona for our (belated) honeymoon next month! Hawaii is a LOT of fun, though! I live on Oahu, which is a blast, but I highly recommend Kauai. No matter where you end up going, you can find decent vacation rentals on AirBNB.com or even a hotel room with a full kitchen, so your fiance can cook and you two will end up saving a lot of money and having fun private dinners in your room. 🙂

Me and my husband went to Sicamous, BC (Canada). We are from AB, Canada. It wasn’t much of a honeymoon in like a planning sort of way. We wanted to spend some time with our maid of honor and best man (husband and wife) and there boys. I was a bit apprehensive at first but we had an amazing time, boating, hiking, kayaking, it was amazing and we got a few nights to ourselves in this amazing 4500sqft cabin, it’s like luxury and it was all FREE 🙂

It’s not about where you go, but who you go with. It’s also not about how much you spend, but how you spend the time.

St. Thomas is a gorgeous island. A cruise is also a great option too! I’ve been on two Caribbean ones and one Mediterranean cruise. I’ve recapped my Western Caribbean in January on my blog and currently recapping the Med Cruise we took a year ago!

Good luck choosing! I am sure its a hard decision!!

Congratulations!! I grew up in Hawaii and we are just about to move back there 🙂 It’s a wonderful place to honeymoon. What island are you planning on staying on?

My hubby and I spent Christmas on Oahu. AMAZING!!!

My husband and I went on a cruise in Hawaii last year for our 25th wedding anniversary! The Norwegian Cruise line cruise ship “Pride of America” leaves and returns to Honolulu on a 7 day cruise and hits 4 other islands! (Our favorite was Maui) It was an amazing cruise and we came home feeling like everyone should take that cruise at some point in their lives! My other suggestion is an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean!

We honeymooned in the Cook Islands in the south pacific. It’s like what I’d have imagined Hawaii was like 70 years ago. It’s not overpopulated or overly touristy. (There are no chain restaurants for example.) But it has a strong enough tourism industry that there are plenty of amenities and fun things to do, they’re just all run mom-and-pop style. We got our own little bungalow on a beach on Aitutaki for somewhere around $300 a night, which is crazy-talk compared to Hawaii or Tahiti.

Hey Meg and Gina! I know this doesn’t really go with the post, but would you ever consider writing about your favorite wardrobe essentials? I like fashion, but with a limited wardrobe budget, I would love to know what I truly need to start a great foundation for a stylish and timeless wardrobe. Thanks so much!

    • Fitnessista on May 26, 2012 at 11:54 pm

sure, that’s a great idea for a post!

So excited for you, Meg! I am from Mexico and would recommend the Mayan Riviera/Yucatan Peninsula for both beautiful, relaxing beaches and amazing adventures through jungles and ancient ruins. There really are no safety concerns for those areas, I promise. I also recently went to Costa Rica for the first time and it was absolutely gorgeous and so much fun- I highly recommend a trip there to anyone! You two are sure to have a great time anywhere though 🙂 Congratulations!

I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon this past December. I’m not sure if you’re staying one place or island hopping, but we went Norwegian Cruise Line Pride of America. We got to experience 5 islands in 7 days and it was amazing!!! Every island is different. My husband is quite the traveller, but his favorite place in the world is Hawaii now.
Tip: drive the road to Hana in Maui. Most people turn back and go the same way back to civilization. We drove the whole way around (there is a dirt road for about 15 miles, go slow) and we weren’t disappointed. It’s one of my favorite days I’ve had in my life. We will always remember it and we talk about it all the time.
