Inspiration to move with the Polar A360

This post is sponsored by Fitfluential on behalf of Polar.

Heading into the New Year, my fitness goals are pretty straightforward. Iโ€™ll write a post about it, but I’d love to increase my strength and cardio endurance, run another half marathon, and build some lean muscle.

My number one priority is moving on a consistent basis again, and with the Polar A360, itโ€™s been a great nudge to get back into it.

Since I took off the necessary 6 weeks postpartum to recover from birth, at first, I thought it would be like a fitness vacation to recharge and hit it again with gusto when I was cleared to resume activity. I was like, โ€œOh, this is nice, Iโ€™m going to feel so refreshed when I can return to the fitness game. โ€œ After the first week, I felt completely normal and my attitude changed. I was itching to move again. I feel so much better when I get in a sweat session, and itโ€™s a fresh breath of โ€œme timeโ€ amidst the many actions involved in keeping two small children alive, happy, fed and entertained. When the midwife cleared me to work out again, of course I was excited, and then I was like, โ€œHow am I going to have time to work out?โ€ It can be a little tricky when you feel like you donโ€™t take a breath until you collapse into bed.

Needless to say, I was pretty thrilled when Polar sent me one of their new A360s to test out. Not only would it provide some motivation to safely resume my activities, but also a way to monitor my heart rate throughout workout sessions.

Here are some of the things Iโ€™ve noticed:

Even though I feel like Iโ€™m on the move all day, since weโ€™re still not quite out and about as much, my step count has gone way down.

I was excited for the insightful data from this monitor… except the sleep part. I didnโ€™t need to know how much sleep Iโ€™m (not) getting. Haha.

When you wear a fitness tracker, youโ€™ll get a lot of questions! I always love to ask about how people like their fitness trackers, so Iโ€™ve been happy to share the love and how much Iโ€™ve been enjoying the A360.

Pros:

Motivation to move. Just knowing that youโ€™re trying to reach a 10k step goal is extra encouragement to take small actions throughout the day to accomplish it, like parking farther away, taking the steps whenever possible, or extending the dance party time with your preschooler. For the record, if you find that youโ€™re low on steps, just do some Zumba songs. (YouTube has a ton.) BOOM. Itโ€™s an easy and fun way to get some extra movement!

I love the giant touch screen. I havenโ€™t tried anything like this, and you can easily scroll to view your day, heart rate, the time, and what youโ€™d need to do to reach your 10k goal.

The app is extremely user-friendly. You can access it on your computer or phone, and quickly sync to see how youโ€™re doing. Iโ€™ve found that since the tracker itself provides a lot of information, I donโ€™t usually need to check into the app much throughout the day. Itโ€™s a nice way to view patterns over the span of a month or week.

The A360 also tracks your heart rate. This is particularly awesome for classes or activities that donโ€™t register as high step counts, but are still great workouts, like BODYPUMP and Spin.

Itโ€™s also waterproof and you can get notifications, like incoming calls, messages and your calendar. I love that they added some smartphone features!

Cons:

The only con Iโ€™ve noticed is that the band and screen are very large on my freakishly small wrists. Even so, itโ€™s very comfortable to wear and use.

Is there a daily goal you try to hit? For me, I always try to make sure I get enough water, and some type of protein and produce in every meal and snack. When Iโ€™m wearing a fitness tracker, I like to try and crush my 10k step goal.

Leave a comment below, and Iโ€™ll surprise a lucky reader with an A360 of their own. ๐Ÿ˜‰

xoxo

This would be great for after my baby is born. It would be motivating to get moving.

  2. amber conger on December 30, 2015 at 6:53 am

I love that this has a heart rate monitor. I stopped using my previous tracker because I always had to add in my polar ft4 heart rate monitor! So convenient to have both in one!

  3. Julie on December 30, 2015 at 6:54 am

Would love to win one to track my workouts. The app looks so amazing too!

  4. Meryl on December 30, 2015 at 6:55 am

I love the heart rate monitor feature! My goal is to get some type of movement everyday

  6. Nicole on December 30, 2015 at 6:55 am

I always try for 10k steps as well. However this new year I’m going to try to add some meditation to my routine. 10 minutes per day maybe? Bring me back to my center which is sometimes easy to lose with 3 and 5 year old children! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Sarah B on December 30, 2015 at 6:56 am

I definitely don’t need a reminder for how little sleep I get with all my children but love all the other features of this ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks!

  8. Juliana on December 30, 2015 at 6:56 am

I try to hit 15-18k every day (I live in San francisconand walk everywhere), but I only have my phone to keep track so I’m not sure how accurate it is! I would love a wearable one ๐Ÿ™‚

I have been unable to decide if/which fitness tracker to purchase since they came out. I like that this one tracks heart rate! Would love to try it.

  10. Sara on December 30, 2015 at 6:57 am

This would be a great way to see how all the steps around the office add up!

  11. Amanda S. on December 30, 2015 at 6:58 am

I lost my Fitbit when we moved, and have been itching to track my steps ever since!

  12. Heather on December 30, 2015 at 6:58 am

I am also trying to get my fitness back on track after having a baby 4 months ago. I have looked at fitness trackers, but couldn’t decide. This would be great motivation! Thanks for the info and inspiration.

I would love to win this watch. Having a fitness watch like this Polar one would motivate and remind me to move more throughout the day. My goals are to drink lots of water, increase heart rate and burn more calories during my workouts.

  14. Amy on December 30, 2015 at 6:59 am

I would love an activity monitor! And I totally have freakishly small wrists too! Lol

  15. Sheena m. on December 30, 2015 at 6:59 am

What a great giveaway for the upcoming new year!

  16. Jessica on December 30, 2015 at 6:59 am

This looks great. Love that it has the heart rate monitor yet still looks fairly sleek and comfortable.

  17. Carmen on December 30, 2015 at 7:00 am

The A360 looks like a fun tracker. When I began reading my mind said “wow, that looks giant on her tiny wrists” and then when you mentioned the size towards the end I chuckled. It still looks good on your hands.

    Happy New Year!

  18. Erica on December 30, 2015 at 7:00 am

I would LOVE to win this!!! Right now, my goal is just to move every day and to teach until the end of my pregnancy (given I still feel good). This is my last week of Body Attack and INSANITY, but I’m hoping to keep step for at least 1 more month and pump to the end!!

  19. Sarah on December 30, 2015 at 7:02 am

The A360 seems like a great, versatile fitness tracker! I’m trying to get back into the swing of things after recovering from surgery and this would be a great tool to have!

  20. Nicole on December 30, 2015 at 7:02 am

I’ve been researching fitness trackers and this sounds like the perfect one! I love my trusty Polar heart rate monitor. This would be the best of both worlds!

  21. Karen on December 30, 2015 at 7:02 am

Very helpful. I’ve been wanting to try a fitness tracker.

  22. Jyoti on December 30, 2015 at 7:03 am

I’ve been considering getting a fitness tracker, and this one seems perfect. I know I don’t walk 10k steps on a normal day, so it would be a great way to make sure I’m active throughout the entire day!

  23. Amy Seifert on December 30, 2015 at 7:05 am

    Oooooh this looks great!

  24. Ashley on December 30, 2015 at 7:06 am

I use to wear the fitbit but never felt it was that accurate especially when it came to sleep. It would show that I was extremely restless at night. Would love to try out this tracker tho. It would be super nice to have something that shows heart rate!

    Happy New Year!!

  25. Sarah C on December 30, 2015 at 7:08 am

I always try to incorporate movement into my day. Preferable a workout and I try to mix it up but, some days, just getting out for a walk checks the box. Would be interesting to see what my data looks like!

  26. Lauren on December 30, 2015 at 7:08 am

I love fitness trackers! Right now I have one that tracks my steps but really interested in one that will track your heart rate as I teach cycle and many strength classes!!

  27. Mary on December 30, 2015 at 7:08 am

Always nice to have some help getting motivated!

  28. alex d on December 30, 2015 at 7:08 am

I always try to hit 7 miles per day with my fitness tracker.. I’m a teacher so this is usually a pretty reasonable goal when combined with my daily workouts, because I’m constantly on the move. Also, at least half a gallon of water per day, but this can be hard because teachers don’t get too many pee breaks!

  29. Chelsea S. on December 30, 2015 at 7:09 am

I totally hear ya on the freakishly small wrists. I would love one of these! ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. Sarah Abbott on December 30, 2015 at 7:10 am

Oh I would love to try this! I only have an old heart rate monitor so it would be nice to see what my bike rides (just got one for Christmas!) and my dog walking/park hopping with kids burn. Also sleep. Hasn’t been great since before kids.

  31. Lisa on December 30, 2015 at 7:10 am

This would be a great incentive in making sure I am staying active enough especially with a desk job.

  32. Maggie on December 30, 2015 at 7:11 am

I think having a tracker would definitely be a great extra “push” to keep moving throughout the day. I love your suggestion of doing a couple zumba songs on youtube as a way to get in those extra steps!!

  33. Tori Baucum on December 30, 2015 at 7:11 am

My wrists are also tiny too but this would be so great to win and a fantastic way to start the new year!

  34. Melissa S. on December 30, 2015 at 7:11 am

Would love to try it. Let’s go 2016!

  35. Katherine on December 30, 2015 at 7:11 am

My current goals are to get my workouts in 5x/week and eat veggies with every meal. Also love the motivation of an activity tracker to hit 10k steps daily ๐Ÿ˜€

  36. Marissa on December 30, 2015 at 7:12 am

I’d love a fitness tracker with a heart rate monitor!

  37. Trish Winter-Hunt on December 30, 2015 at 7:12 am

I love Polar products and have been drooling over this tracker!

  38. Cassie on December 30, 2015 at 7:13 am

I’d love to see my heartrate. I try to get a green smoothie every day.

  39. Asling on December 30, 2015 at 7:13 am

Would love this, a tracker was on my Santa list but he must have forgot!!
    Xx

  40. Katie O on December 30, 2015 at 7:13 am

I totally would not have started running if it wasn’t for trying to fit in workouts with my two. I quickly realized that I can throw them in the stroller and run a couple miles far easier than anything else!

Just an fyi- wrist trackers don’t pick up steps when that hand is on a stroller or shopping cart, so you might be doing more than it recognizes!

  41. Jillian on December 30, 2015 at 7:14 am

This tracker looks great! I am having a baby in February and would love to have something like this to help me get back into working out!

  42. Courtney on December 30, 2015 at 7:14 am

I always try to get 10,000 steps a day! Taking my dog for daily walks always helps!

  43. Laina on December 30, 2015 at 7:15 am

Great way to stay on track. Would love to try one !

  44. Katie on December 30, 2015 at 7:17 am

I would LOVE to have a heart rate monitor! I primarily work out alone and would love to know if I am pushing hard enough.

  45. Bond on December 30, 2015 at 7:17 am

I would love to try a new fitness tracker in 2016!

  46. Kelsey Halena on December 30, 2015 at 7:20 am

I used to have a FitBit and it got lost somewhere in the house (legitimately think our dog ate it), so this year my fiance got me a new tracker for Christmas – it’s a different brand, so I’ll be curious to see what I like about that one vs. the FitBit, but would looooove one that includes HR! This one definitely doesn’t have that fancy feature.

  47. Christina Alfaro on December 30, 2015 at 7:21 am

I would love this! I am 6 weeks pp and I am just now starting to exercise a little. I gained 40lbs total and lost 20 in the first two weeks pp. this last 20 doesn’t look like it wants to go anywhere though lol. This would help a lot! Thanks for the opportunity!

  48. Natalie on December 30, 2015 at 7:21 am

Had to cancel my gym membership because I have twin babies at home
And need to workout at home so this would be a great encouragement to
    Move.

  49. Linda on December 30, 2015 at 7:22 am

Winning this would be a great nudge to be more active in 2016.
I could use the encouragement to up my step count.
    Thanks

  50. Molly on December 30, 2015 at 7:22 am

Thank you for the review!! I have been wanting to buy a fitness tracker for awhile, but have been waiting to bite the bullet because some are so expensive! I think the motivation to move is so important because I am sure there are days that would be really eye opening and make me get my booty moving!!!
