Morning greens
Hi everyone! I just want to say hi to all of the new Fitnessista readers out there 😀 Thanks so much for checking out my little bloggy…please kick back and stay for a while.
I’ll even make you some green juice 😉
I drank that beauty this morning for a pick-me-up while I made the pilot breakfast and got my running gear together.
Before heading out the door, I also munched a breakfast cookie:
-1/3 cup oats
-1 small banana
-1/2 scoop Sun Warrior
-cinnamon
-water (don’t ever do this.. almond milk is so much better, but I was out)
-1 T almond butter
-1 T chia seeds
and then I went down to the base trail for an 4.65 mile run. It was so nice to wake up early and get cardio out of the way… the only snafu was that my shuffle started acting up towards the end. I’m convinced ipizzles hate me.
To rewind (a lot), dinner last night was pretty epic.
Tilapia with thyme, garlic, lemon, sea salt and pepper, roasted asparagus with lemon and garlic and my favorite saffron brown rice with peas. To me, saffron is a necessary investment in any spice cabinet. It makes rice taste like foodgasms 😉
And a simple salad with Organicville balsamic:
I’m off to make raw lunches for my clients (I hope they like them!), train a couple of clients and then teach yoga before going back to the other gym for one more appointment.
Oh! And order my dress for the formal Air Force dinner (Dining Out) that’s coming up in February.
I think this one is the winner:

I lurve it.
K, I’m off! See ya later 🙂

Today’s tip: Plan out your workout in advance. Print out cardio routines, or weight routines (like the Shape Up or Intro to Iron Pumping) or write down what you want to do on a little notecard. It makes it much easier to go through your list and accomplish your workout goals if you have a plan when you walk in the door.
Oooh that breakfast cookie looks SO yummy! And I love the dress. It’s gorgeous. Makes me want to buy a new dress! 🙂
that dress is AMAZING!!! so gorgeous, can’t wait to see pictures 🙂
LOVE LOVE LOVE the dress!!! 🙂 The back is bomb!!!
Congrats on a good run, I luuuurve trail running! So scenic and good on the knees 😉
LOVE that dress! It’s going to be gorgeous on you, perfect color 🙂
Gina how long do you eat your breakfast cookie before running?? Something like that usually fills me up so much I have to wait an hour or so before cardio!
usually an hour before.. i’m the same way, i can’t do cardio on a full belly 🙂
omg that dress is awesome! and i love your tip of the day. it’s something i totally do not only to feel accomplished but because writing my workout down makes even the hardest workout seem more manageable.
I love the dress, it’s beautiful!
That dress is amazing!! It will look great on you! Did you see this giveaway in Twirlit? : http://www.twirlit.com/2010/01/13/twirlit-giveaway-wednesday-rent-the-runway-giveaway/ it’s for a giftcard to RTR, you should definitely enter, maybe you can rent that dress for free! 🙂
Yes, LOOVVEE the dress! Great choice! Your tilapia looks fantastic…may have to put that on the menu for tonight 😉
Just curious – what happened to your shuffle? I recently had mine stolen, but before that it would stop responding when I pushed the buttons soon after being fully charged (I’d use it for an hour and then I’d have to recharge before it would work again). I’m thinking about getting another one, but if that’s a common problem maybe I’ll just deal with a larger one.
Thanks!
hey stella,
the shuffle thinks i’m pressing the button to change songs when i’m not even touching it! it was super weird
Hey Gina, just wanted to let you know that I did the Shape Up workout this morning. I modified a thing or two, and did an extra couple sets of abs, and it was a great 45 minute heart pumping workout. Thanks for posting!
That dress is fierce! You are going to look sooooo amazing in it (although you look amazing in everything!)
And that saffron brown rice looks amazing, too! Yum!
I don’t think I’ve seen you address this anywhere; forgive me if you have, but could you talk about how much you spend on your food budget. In the past 6 months I have completely changed my family (of 5)’s diet to organic whenever possible, nothing processed, plant-based (but we do eat some meat and fish), and I have found that my grocery expenses have more than doubled. Any tips on eating healthy within a budget? Help!
hey jenn,
i get that question a lot, but sadly i don’t have any great tips for that as we spend a boatload of money on groceries. i won’t allow meat that isn’t organic in the house (for the pilot) so that gets very expensive and if we have it in valdosta and its organic, i’ll buy it.
you can definitely eat healthy on a budget (fruits and veggies are not expensive at all, neither are beans and legumes, whole grains) but buying organic is always more expensive. i think if we keep buying organic and then demand continues to go up, the price will eventually go down
Hey doll, since when can you discuss a dress without the accompanying SHOES?! We’ll be needing another update. 😉
i haven’t found any i love yet! when i do, you bet i’ll post them 🙂

love the breakfast cookie and that beautiful dress!!
That dress is gorgeous I love the back!
That dress is fantastic! I’m sure you’ll rock it!
I know I’m a little late, but thanks for the shape up workout! 6 weeks is the perfect time for me to show up at the new duty station looking and feeling fantastic! You bringing up the dress reminds me that I should be in great shape just in case we have a military ball coming up in Colorado. Do you have any tips on cooking fish? I tend to overcook it because I get nervous about undercooked meat/fish.
hey jackie,
i usually pan-sear it (about 30 seconds on each side) and bake for about 15-20 minutes. just poke it with a fork and then move it back and forth. if it’s clear in the middle and gummy, put it back in for a few minutes. if it flakes easily and is opaque, you’re good!
Great dress!
That dress is GORGEOUS! You are totally gonna rock it girl! 🙂
Love that dress! Am starting to shop for my bridal shower cocktail party coming up and love fun, flirty things like that. 🙂
So you decided to teach the yoga class again! Good luck, sweetie – hope it goes fabulously 😀
I don’t think I’ve ever (knowingly) tried saffron..
LOVE that dress. You will look stunning in it!
thank you, i need it! last time was such a disaster
have a great day!
What a gorgeous dress!!
Love the tip of the day because it actually works. Also, love that dress! I think you will rock that dress better than that model.
What’s in the juice?
green apple, lemon, spinach and parsley
That is a HOT dress!!!
Fabulous dress girl! I am sure you will look hot for the formal dinner in that! 🙂
Love tilapia! What fancy dress!
I’m loving the dress Gina, you’ll look fabulous at the formal dinner. Breakfast cookie looks great, I’ve been using your recipe and using it as a mid afternoon snack, what’s it like with the chia seeds? I hadn’t heard of chia seeds before this month’s Body and Soul and the new eat clean diet book. I’ll see if I can get them in the health store. Hope the raw lunches for your clients are going well, let me know how you’re finding it all. Have a great day!
