Sometimes carbs make me feel way better than veggies doโ€ฆ.

Ok, a lot of the time. ๐Ÿ˜€

I donโ€™t love Jillian Michaels.

jillian-michaels-quickstart

A lot of people adore JM, and she motivates a ton of people, but I think her workouts set people up to plateau and thereโ€™s the weight loss supplement junkโ€ฆ.

Dinosaurs scare me.

Even the nice ones! When the Pilot and cousins took me on the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom, I got off the ride with an eyeliner-covered face- I cried the whole time. If I even have to go on Jurassic Park ride, I may have a heart attack.

After four weeks of wearing only athletic clothes, when I put jeans on last Friday night, they felt really scratchy and uncomfortable. I may never wear *real* clothes again ๐Ÿ˜‰

All of my friends and a lot of my family members are having babies.

For now, Iโ€™m having fun buying lots of baby gifts and planning showers ๐Ÿ™‚

The Pilot and I used to call each other โ€œFaceโ€. (Like, โ€œHey Face, I missed your faceโ€) Somehow โ€œFaceโ€ turned into โ€œBrain.โ€ I donโ€™t know, either ๐Ÿ™‚

As a birthday present, the Pilot said he would shave the โ€˜stache.

A better gift would be if you came home earlyโ€ฆ. <3

I’m will you with JM. How can she be on the Biggest Loser and then promote those pills?

I have to deal with the hubs stache every March. For some reason military guys find it hilarious. I don’t!!

SO agree with JM. Also on BL they workout 5 hours a day! I don’t have time for that!

    • Fitnessista on October 27, 2010 at 9:30 pm

no one does! it’s unnessecary, too

  5. Naomi(onefitfoodie) on October 27, 2010 at 7:36 pm

OMG as a personal trainer, I could nto agree with you more about JM…I think her workouts are brutally intense especially for people JUST starting out to exercise. For some its the first time in their lives that they have done any physical activity and to go that hard, that soon, just sets people up for plateauing, and then when they get back home and can’t keep it up they just get frustrated and may burn out

  6. Jenn @ LiveWellFitNow on October 27, 2010 at 7:41 pm

Agreed on the carbs, JM, wearing jeans and everyone else having babies! ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy the ‘stache is gone for ya. It was a hilarious pic though!

So cute, Gina! I love this post! But you just about had me drooling all over the keyboard with that picture of brown bread from Cheesecake Factory. My favorite!

Always enjoy reading your thoughts and musings about the Pilot, too! <3

Jeans suck. And my office is freezing. So I’ve ended up wearing leggings underneath my jeans every day for the last week. I’m totally keeping it up. ๐Ÿ™‚ Super comfy and warm.

I don’t like wearing clothes other than work out gear either! Everyone must think I’m either lazy or live at the gym. ๐Ÿ˜›

The pilot’s decision is very well received.

I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on JM — what do you think of her dvds and such for a more intermediate level exerciser? Just curious.

I bet your Pilot misses you like crazy too. I’ve seen it commented on here before, but I do think he looks like the groom on the Hangover!

Ooooh, friend… I’m gonna let you in on a secret about the “d” word…(No, not that one. You shouldn’t be scared of that.) ๐Ÿ˜‰
Growing up so close to Disney, we went all the time, including the grand opening of Animal Kingdom. Now, back in the late 90s, it didn’t have all of the rides/attractions that it does today. But it did have THAT ride. Imagine: a single mom w/3 preteen girls, going on that ride. Now re-imagine all of the girls are *freaking the eff out* except the Mom.
If you’ll recall, you know that they take your pic during the scariest part of the “ride”…kinda like at Splash Mountain, once you’re about to go over the big Falls. So yes…there is photographic evidence somewhere at my Mom’s house…so don’t feel bad. ๐Ÿ˜‰
    XO

This is a fun post! ๐Ÿ™‚ when I worked at a gym, I never wore real clothes and hated putting on jeans! I wore yoga pants, sports bras, t-shirts and tennis shoes all the time and it was so comfy. Also, I had no idea you were so scared of dinosaurs!

  25. Christine on October 27, 2010 at 9:11 pm

Is it sad I know where that bread basket is from? Now I want some….

When is he coming home? I hope it is soon!

  26. Laury @ thefitnessdish on October 27, 2010 at 9:11 pm

    I SO AGREE ABOUT JILLIAN!!!!!!

As a fitness trainer for over 8 years…I feel she is SUCH a sellout. She does motivate many, but the Biggest Loser makes me cringe…yes, it can be inspiring, however, I feel that

    A. it gives the message that exercise has to be torture to be effect

    B. People need to drop big numbers each week or they are a failure.

Her fat loss supplements on QVC sealed the deal for me with her…especially since they contain Bitter Orange which can have VERY harmful effects on your heart.

Ok…theres my random thoughts for the day.

Thank you for saying that ๐Ÿ˜‰

some carbs make me feel better than my greens too ๐Ÿ™‚

  27. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on October 27, 2010 at 9:14 pm

Oh, I love the brown bread at Cheesecake Factory!! I don’t even really need a meal after that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I totally agree with you about JM– and it makes me sad, because I used to like her a lot! But lately, her workouts, and especially her supplements, are just not living up to the “healthy lifestyle” that she preaches!!

Oh, and if you’re ever in Universal Studios, the Jurassic Park ride isn’t very scary, or dinosaur-heavy… it’s kinda old. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (at least, the one in LA is!)

    • Fitnessista on October 27, 2010 at 9:27 pm

i will NEVER do it. haha

  28. Karyn on October 27, 2010 at 9:14 pm

i HEART dinosaurs. although i do have a recurring nightmare about them. i’m just a bit obsessed hahah

  29. Caitlin on October 27, 2010 at 9:17 pm

I’ve been on that dinosaur ride. It’s terrifying! In the picture they take of you during the ride, we couldn’t see two of my friends because they were hiding in each others laps. I was convinced the T-Rex was going to snatch the girl next to me. Also, that brown bread from Cheesecake might be one of the greatest things ever.

  30. Jessica@tastyandtrim on October 27, 2010 at 9:20 pm

I could make a meal out of that bread from Cheesecake Factory! The last line seriously made me say “awww.” You and the pilot are too cute – I hope he comes home to you soon!

  31. Jen on October 27, 2010 at 9:20 pm

I agree with you about JM but I’m not sure what you mean about plateau-ing. Why do her workouts cause people to plateau?

    • Fitnessista on October 27, 2010 at 9:26 pm

because her dvds have you do the same thing every day- you’re repeatedly tearing down the same muscles and not giving them the chance to rest and grow back stronger

      • Jen on October 28, 2010 at 5:57 am

oh…that makes sense. I’ve never seen her DVDs – now I know! Thanks! Have a fantastic day!

I HATE THAT DINOSAUR RIDE!!! Give me any roller coaster. Any day of the week before that ride. I have a picture of me and my cousin hiding the car. She was 14 and I was 22!!

The Jurassic park ride is MUCH tamer. And fewer dinosaurs. Basically splash mountain with one T-rex thrown in there. Or you could just do Splash Mountain.

I also like Bob better. I have a crush on him Even more so now that I know he is vegan.

    • Fitnessista on October 28, 2010 at 8:12 am

oh my gosh, I laughed out loud at the fact that you cried on a dinosaur ride!! I’m sorry – I know it’s sad and you were scared, but that is hilarious! If it makes you feel better, I truly believe that dinosaurs did NOT exist on Earth. Don’t get me started – people think I’m crazy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ahh ha ha! I loved this post! So random, so funny! And I agree with you about JM, I’ve watched the biggest loser a couple of times and although I really enjoy hearing the stories and struggles of the contestants I think she’s way too harsh and I don’t feel like having ppl workout that much that hard is teaching them a healthy lifestyle they can maintain once the show is over… just my mini rant ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m thinking not, but I wish you and the pilot lots of beautiful babies when the magical time is right for you guys ๐Ÿ™‚

I just took Skylar to the pumpkin patch and posted about it today…basically it’s the REASON I am a parent. Days like yesterday. I agree. JM is lame for going the supplement route and she is very cocky since she is huge now. She has a rep as being high maintanence on shoots too, hey it is the word on the streets I am just sayin! I think her style of training can work but I also think what they do on Biggest Loser just rocks thier bodies in a bad way. Bad ballistic movements…

Yes, sending my hopes that the pilot comes home to you sooner than later! Before reading your blog I didn’t have a clear sense of how much time military families can be away from each other. I mean sure, there are soldiers off in Iraq, but I guess I thought that more than likely families are living together (w/ their pilots and soliders and what not) on the bases. Thanks for bringing reality to this line of work! Not easy for the entire family. Hang in there.

Gina, I wish the Pilot would come home early too. Even though I have never met you it makes me so sad you are apart that much. I don’t know how you do it! I miss my hubby so much even after a couple days.
