Schweaty August Cardio Workout
Heyyyyy! And yayyyyy for the weekend 😀 I’ve got a Schweaty August Cardio Workout for you in the form of hilly treadmill intervals! If you’re ready for it, scroll down. Otherwise, some things from lately.
I’m pretty sure you could figure it out from last night’s post, but I was dead tired. All I wanted to do was lay on the couch and let my brain and body rest, so cooking was pretty much out of the picture. Since I cooked every night this week, the Pilot offered to pick up some dinner at Renee’s Organic Oven- my fave 😀
He ordered a pizza for himself, and the combo foodgasms are made of (for meeeeee):
Veggies (artichokes, onion, tomato, squash, basil) cooked in marinara with goat cheese + a slice of Udi’s bread
and I have no idea how this gluten-free carrot cake made it into the order.
But I was all over it 😉
He had a boy’s night and went to Sakura with some of the other pilots, while I stayed at home in my jammies, read baby books and watched “How to lose a guy in 10 days” for the twelve thousandth time in my life. I’ve been trying to read Bossypants and can’t get into it.
I loved the first couple of chapters, but am at a point where I’m losing interest. Trying to decide if I want to call it quits and start something new, or make myself finish it.
Bfast this morning was more like a snack, since we have our last ultrasound appointment and will prob grab some bfast after.
Brown rice toast with a little PB, half a banana and cinnamon
We’re off to the doc’s- see ya later today <3
xoxo
Gina
Here’s that Schweaty August Cardio Workout! This one is a combo of rolling hills and speed intervals, to get your booty burning and blast a lot of calories in 30 minutes. As always, check with a doc before making any fitness changes and modify the workout as necessary to suit your fitness level and preferences.
You can use an elliptical, spin bike or treadmill for this one:
[I designed the workout with a treadmill, but if you’re using a spin bike or elliptical use the incline as guidelines of how to increase each minute for the rolling hills, and for sprinting, make sure to have some resistance on there, too]
If you walk, shoot for a quick pace like 4.0mph. Make sure your sprints are as fast as you can go and that steady state at the end should be a pretty quick pace.
At the end, you’ll want to fully cool down, so it’s fine if it takes more than three minutes. Go for as long as you need to!
Some playlist ideas:
-“Let It Rain Over Me” Pitbull ft Marc Anthony
-“Beautiful People” Chris Brown ft Benny Benassi
-“Marry the Night” Lady Gaga
-“Do What You Want” Evanescense
-“In the Dark” DEV
-“Stereo Hearts” Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levine
Good luck with the ultrasound today, Gina!
& I’m sure the baby bump loved that gluten-free carrot cake too 😉
he did! he was dancing around after i ate it 🙂
Awww love that! 🙂
Cant wait to try this workout! Oh and thanks for the song suggestions. awesome as always
Your to go order looks so good, but also seems so simple. Have you ever tried to make it at home? This workout looks amazing. I love that it’s intervals of sprints AND hills, it’d be hard to get bored during this!
Don’t make yourself finish the book!! Life is too short for that!! 🙂
Good luck at your appointment!
I love the look on your face holding that carrot cake! Haha! I would be smiling like that too 😉
That dinner looks phenomenal! yum anything swimming in marinara sauce rocks 🙂
Yum! That dinner looks delicious, and like goat cheese heaven 😉 hope the doc appointment goes good. Enjoy your weekend!
Like half my playlist is Dev…Fireball is another good song 🙂
Yeah when I can’t get into the book I usually end up putting it down, just can’t waste my time “trying” to get into it
Haha I love the mischievious look on your face as you’re holding the carrot cake. Looks yummy!
Have fun at your ultra sound today!! So exciting when you get to see your little peanut move around! Makes it all feel so real 🙂
And thanks for posting this august workout! I was just looking for something to do before I head to the gym!
Thanks for the workout! I can’t wait to try it this weekend.
That veggie bowl looks delicious!
Good luck with the ultrasound! 😀
“Bossypants” does have a couple lull chapters in the middle, but I still read it and laughed like a maniac. It picks up again when she starts talking about her career and fame.
i LOVE how to lose a guy in 10 days, i’ve watched it a millions times and could watch it a million more. Might have to watch it this weekend while the bf is away!
I am definitely liking this workout.
Right now I so want pizza. Just reading the word pizza has me craving it. haha!
I absolutely love your posts, especially your work outs! This summer is the first time in my life I have worked out and enjoyed it.
I’ve lost 15 lbs!! I give your workouts a lot of credit for helping me change it up and never get bored!
Thank you!
p.s. that food looks very yummy!
Good luck with the ultrasound Gina! I love How to Lose a Guy in 10 days and might just watch it tonight now that you mention it. This weekend I’m celebrating my birthday so I’m pretty excited about that!
I did the same thing with the book – got half way through and decided I wasn’t interested anymore.
Love the evil look on your face with that cake….”stay away!! all mine!!” Have a great weekend girl. 🙂
Make yourself finish Bossy Pants!! It really is a great book. I might love it so much because I’m from Chicago, though. I’ve actually been to/seen a lot of the places she refers to!
Some tracks we love…..seem they might fit your taste
Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina – Stereo Love
Yolanda Be Cool – We No Speak Americano
Madcon – Glow
Que Sera – Wax Tailor
I can’t believe you can’t get into Bossypants! I was hooked, and Tina Fey is hilarious. I think you’ll like it…keep reading! =)
ohh dinner looks phenomenal. the sauce is making me want pasta though.. pasta for lunch is definitely a big fat NO.
LOVE “stereo hearts”!!! ever since they played a lil preview of it a few months ago on The Voice, i’ve been obsessed! i’m sort of worried now that i’m hearing it on the radio though… hope i don’t get sick of it!
enjoy the ultrasound!! =)
I loved Bossypants! Which part has you losing interest? I just love everything that Tina Fey does, so maybe that’s why I thought it was so amazing 🙂
The baby must of wanted that carrot cake ; )
Happy Weekend girl! xoxo <3
I love that Pit/Marc Anthony song! Makes me want to work out AGAIN!
Good luck at the Ultrasound today, Gina! 😀
That Cardio Workout looks killer! You always have sweatiest workouts!
Hope all goes perfect today at the doc appt! Looooove sweaty workouts like that. Looks great!
Oh man, that dinner looks AMAZING! What a nice Pilot you have 🙂
Really excited to do this cardio workout! And for your next family post (re: twitter) :). It is so fun to follow your pregnancy journey until I embark on my own! Also, I am currently downloading some of the playlist songs you suggested above. I’m sure they will help on those sprints.
I recently stumbled upon your blog and LOVE it!! I am getting so many great food ideas – especially the snacks! This is now one of my daily reads. 🙂
I need to give that workout a shot—my cardio has been seriously lagging lately!
Ultrasounds must be so exciting! 🙂
I love that Marc Anthony + Pitbull song. Gets mah booty shakin!!! Also I want that bowl of deliciousness + cake. I am actually really diggin the goat cheese. Wooooo workouts!!
I’ve just started reading Bossy Pants too, and was also having a hard time getting into it. I love her humor, though it was tough to read after just finishing The Help. Because The Help was just sooooo goood!
It is always so strange when things like the gluten free carrot cake happen, isn’t it? Happy doctoring!
Some nights it’s just so good to relax and chill with a book and self-snuggle time! So glad you had such a delicious meal – that carrot cake looks divine! Hope the ultrasound appointment went swimmingly! <3 xyx
mmm that meal with the goatcheese looks delish! Goat cheese makes everything better 😀 Just wanted to say..I havent read in awhile..kinda took a break from the bloggie world – and just came back to your blog and realized you are preggers lol!! Congratz ..so exciting 🙂
Good luck today! If you stop reading the book, at least skip ahead and read the chapter of the letter she wrote to her daughter… it’s funny slash will make you tear up at the end 🙂
exactly what i was going to tell her. that prayer is hysterical, and being a mom of a little girl, it is so right on! 🙂
k, i’ll at least skip and read that part 🙂
Books….if I happen across one that’s a dud or that I am not into, I scrap it! Time is too precious to be anything other than totally in love with a book for me.
And I am glad that carrot cake found it’s way into your life…I wish some would find it’s way like that into mine! 🙂
Thanks for the new workout! I am in definite need of changing things up, and a little Lady Gaga never hurt those hill sprints (-:
Good luck at the doctor!!!
When cake makes its way into your life, just don’t question it 🙂
I just finished bossypants, it def hit a low note in the middle, but there were parts that I legit laughed out loud at in the end. Have you read Chelsea Handler’s books? I can’t put them down!
i’ve read all of them- she’s hilarious!
I thought the book was pretty boring in the beginning chapters. Try skipping to the chapter titled something like “Amazing, perfect, not like that” in which she talks about doing photoshoots. Made me laugh so hard.
ok, good to know!
I love bossypants! I just finished reading it a while ago, but a few chapters were super boring so I just had to skip them.
Oh bummer! I have to read that book for my book club next month. I didn’t really care for the book we read this month either. I used to read books until the end even when I didn’t like them but I don’t do that anymore. Why waste my time when there are so many other good books out there? And I can always try to read it again another time. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood then.
Haha I love your face in that picture with the carrot cake. You look so mischievous! 😉
Love this workout! Can’t wait to try it out!!!
First of all, CONGRATS on your little girl 🙂 I’m so happy for you and the pilot!!! <3 And I found the same problem with Tina Fey's book. I loved the beginning, but now I've kind of fallen out of interest with it. I'll keep trying if you do 😉
Those veggies look bomb! I didn’t try to read Bossypants, though I think I would have powered through it. I DID, however, listen to the audiobook, read by Tina Fey herself, and it was AMAZING! Like a three hour long stand up marathon! 😀
