The Calm and the Storm
Hi friends <3 Hope you’re having a relaxing Saturday.
I started my morning off with some tasty brown rice cakes:
They were topped with a spread made of heated Sun Warrior with a little almond milk to thin it out, a tablespoon-ish of cashew butter, cinnamon and a chunk of chocolate, topped with cacao nibs
After b-fast, I took the puppers for a walk and then went to a beautiful yoga class.
As we were backbending and going through a beautiful series, tragedy was occurring down the street. I’m sure many of you have heard about the devastating event in Tucson– my thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were affected. It’s a very sad day today <3

Some eats:
New Blueberry Muffin Larabar (from my friends at Larabar- it’s my new favorite flavor)
Lunch today was haphazard- I forgot to pack it, so I munched a little sumthin’ when I got home.
(Brown rice tortilla with organic deli chicken, mustard, goat cream cheese, Garlic Gold and artichoke hearts)
+ carrots
Tonight I’ll probably go to a friend’s birthday dinner and then lay low with the fam <3
Have a lovely night and I’ll see ya in the morning.
xoxo
Gina
VERY tragic day – my heart goes out to all the victims + families.
have a great evening, Gina.
Blueberry muffin sounds amazing!(or what do you say? Amazeballs? Zing?) I can’t wait until it hits store shelves.
amazeballs or foodgasmic 🙂
They’re already in stores 🙂
awesome! i havent seen them here yet but cant wait!
Wow the blueberry muffin Larabar sounds delicious! I hope they’re planning to bring that one to Canada! 🙂
Agreed, what an awful, awful day. My heart also goes out to the victims.
And on a lighter note, that artichoke wrap looks awesome.
Everyone is talking about the blueberry muffin lara bar! I must try it!!
Such a sad day for you and everyone. I’ll be praying for everyone 🙁
I heard about the tragedies, I was worried about you but saw on twitter you were ok, the world is so sad and scary, just devestating : (
Hope you have a good night Gina and I must try the new larabar flavor when I find it : ) I love blueberry!
I heard about the tragic events and will be praying.
You all are making me want to try that new Larabar!
I’ll be praying for everyone tonight.
That combo for your brown rice cakes sounds delicious! I can’t wait to try it:)
Its been a rough week for Arizona. We had the shooting in chandler (luckily no one was hurt) that my husband was on call at and now this. What a devestating day and I have been praying for the families who were affected by all of this all day 🙁
You always make the best food btw. My daily routine seems pretty dull compared to what you make!
Such a sad day. Puts things in perspective, doesn’t it? Have a good evening…
my goodness, what a tragic event……glad you and your loved ones are safe!!
This larabar is something handsome in that pic 😉 I better be seeing one up here in Vancouver, BC very shortly I am taking my butt down south to get one!
xxoo
I had the blueberry muffin larabar in my purse, and the next day it was total mush! It was still good, but doesn’t hold together as well as the others. Coconut Cream Pie still reigns supreme!
Glad you are safe and sound. I was thinking about you today.
Prayers to your community, Gina. What a senseless tragedy. Have a great evening with your family!
I caught those blueberry laras at my fave health food store this summer…sooo delish. I topped one with tofutti and microwaved it….omg.
We’ve been watching the news all afternoon. Your city is in our prayers. It’s a tragic day for all Americans!
And on another note, I wasn’t aware of the new blueberry flavor. I can’t wait to try one!
Those brown rice cakes look good. Terrible about today’s events. Glad you are well!
Sad day, indeed. Wishing you and your community peace.
And totally OFF topic, I though Vies was moving homes? She is so adorable…if I lived in Tucson and you still needed to part ways with her, I would adopt her in a second! (And of course I would let you visit whenever you wanted!).I am poochless , but watch the dogs of my friends/neighbors/friends of friends a lot, and I totally get the whole aggressive/dominant/need to be the only pupper thing. I hope that either way — whether you get to keep that sweet face or whether she finds another home that all turns out well.
Also, how was that deli chicken?!?
Glad you are okay and sending love and hope to Tucson.
I know, it’s so sad what happened.
On another note, I wish I could find goat cream cheese!
I hated to see what was happening in Tucson; saw u were ok on twitter. So senseless.
Definite prayers for all involved in the tragedy today. And I am seriously so jealous of the blueberry Laras. I know it would be my favorite flavor too!
The blueberry flavor sounds amazing! I’ve only been able to find Cashew Cookie and Cherry Pie around here.
I’m glad you and your family are safe; my thoughts go out to those involved in this mornings events 🙁
Happy you and your family are OK. That larabar sounds amazing, I can’t wait to try it when it hits stores!
Thoughts and prayers with the families of those killed and injured. Still remember reading about Gabby’s wedding to her pilot at an organic farm in AZ and thinking about how down to earth she seemed.
she seems like an absolutely lovely person and i really really hope she pulls through and has a strong recovery <3
That blueberry muffin bar sounds delicious!!! Can’t wait until it comes out in regular stores 😀
I’ve never tried a Larabar, can you believe it? What a terrible blogger! 😉
Oh that lara looks great! I love the Blueberry Clif bars. I know some ppl dont like their ingredients and all, but the taste…I really like them 🙂
And that little Sun Warr paste you made…looks great! It’s like protein butter or protein spread. yum!
I had NOT heard about the Tuscon event…omg, I just googled it when I read your post. My prayers are with the families.
Hugs & Peace & Love
🙂
Yum, the Sun Warrior spreads sounds delicious. I’ve gotta try the blueberry muffin bar after reading so much buzz about it. A tragic day indeed, glad you’re okay.
That Larabar flavor AMAZING, as does that wrap- I need to try that out.
Very sad about the situation in Tucson.. ugh. Life is so unexpected sometimes, isn’t it?
Definitely a tragic day in Tucson. Such a senseless act and a horrible end to innocent lives.
Lovely to meet you today Gina, the yoga class was amazing! I thought he did a great job making it both challenging and doable for various levels.
loved meeting you, too!! hope to see ya again soon 🙂 and yes, yoga was amazing!
We live in N.Scottsdale and honestly had no idea any of this was going on. Went on a lovely hike and did not have the TV on all day. Had I not have read this and Googled it, would have not known. SO sad, prayers are with all the families.
So sad. We are praying for all the families too. <3
On a more positive note, that new Larabar looks sooooooo good! Gina I haven't seen the almond butter on the bloggie in a while… did you guys break up? I haven't heard about any swims in the AB goodness… Hmmm, in fact, I think I'll go for a dip myself right now!
oh i just haven’t written about it 🙂 i had my standard jar last week 😉
I love your brown rice cakes snack- yummy! Have a good evening 🙂
Esp something like this happening so close to you! Gah! 🙁
Have a lovely Sunday!
What a horrible tragedy. I pray for all of the families who were affected by this mindless act.
And a another new larabar flavor? My town still hasn’t gotten on the cookie dough ones yet!
A Blueberry Muffin Larabar sounds like it would be my favorite flavor too. I can’t wait to try one!

Blueberry muffin? YUM! I love artichoke hearts.
I was so shocked when I learned about what happened in AZ. I’m glad that you and your family are ok!
Such a tragic day 🙁 I’m so happy you and the fam are okay- keeping you and all other Tucsonians in my prayers <3
I am not a fan of the tropical larabars, would I still like blueberry?
definitely thinking of you and the storm; sorry to hear about it
My heart just breaks for Tucson and the families of the victims. It’s crazy to think that this sort of thing can happen anywhere – my parents live just a couple miles away.
On a much different, brighter note, very excited to see a blueberry Larabar! What are the ingredients? More importantly, are there walnuts? Fingers crossed for a no – I’m allergic, le sigh.
Do you know what the other new flavas of Larabars are going to be? i’m so excitedddddd!
i have no idea, but am so excited too!
Goat Chream Cheese!! That sounds amazing!
Maybe I should give larabars a second chance. Hmmm..
Loved the artichoke hearts idea! They’re also excellent on pizza. I have a tin in the cupboard and need to use them up….a wrap sounds great!
Do you ever make your own brown rice tortillas? We can’t buy them here and I want one :-S
PS Woke up here in the UK to the tragic news from Tucson….so sad.
i’ve never made them, but that would be a fun project!
That larabar looks aaaaamazing.
I just bought some brown rice cakes yesterday and cannot wait to try them!
Now I will have to try the blueberry muffin bar.
Everything looks delicious as usual :).
