They know me too well
Hey hey hey! Happy Monday! Iโm still cracking up from reading your rapper names ๐ Hilarious.
Somehow this week doesnโt seem like such a doozy.. Iโm stoked for holiday time! The only bummer is that I miss my family a lot during this time of the yearโฆ good news is that Iโll see them in January ๐
So yesterday, the pilot and I tackled 6 miles in 55 minutes and then walked around and stretched for a while. For the first time, I didnโt feel horribly uncomfortable running with him! His legs are about twice as long and he has to slow down big time to keep my pace. Since he worked out his legs earlier in the day, I think it was easier for him to go my speed ๐
I had a training appointment, and then I came back to the casa to enjoy our standard Sunday night grilled meal.
Baked organic sweet potato with goat jack cheese, scallions and cayenne, grilled squash, zucchini, tomatoes and onions with rosemary, garlic powder, sea salt and pepper. The pilot also had some organic burgers with jalapenos and steak sauce. It was pretty tasty wasty ๐
Iโm thinking I need to stop yapping to my clients so much, because they know me too well.
Funny quotes lady surprised me with this bundle of goodness after her appointment last night:
An aluminum water bottle with a โGโ on there and a super cute makeup bag FILLED with all of my favorite health food store goodies: almond butter, Maryโs crack, Sugar Cookie tea, raw revolution bars, Ginger-gize drink. Amazing, right?? She basically hooked me up with all of my favorite snacks to take to Tennessee ๐
And you guys know that Tinkerbell (my nickname for another one of my clients) got me the Mandy Ingber Yogalosophy DVD and a Bizzle gift card.
Which brings me to:
REVIEW TIME!
Mandy Ingber is well-known for being Jennifer Anistonโs yoga instructor. I think Jennifer Aniston has a banging body, and know that a great fitness routine might have something to do with it ๐ That piqued my interest right there, along with the fact that I LOOOOOOOOVE me some yoga.

After starting the DVD โI skipped the intros because my attention span is a little on the short side when it comes to fitness DVDsโฆ I want to get started right away- and was blown away by the incredible shape Mandy Ingber is in, as well.

Now donโt get me wrong, Iโm not saying that fitness instructors have to look a certain way for me to like them (we’ve had this little chat before) but if someone is the picture of excellent health, Iโm going to listen to what they have to say.
I really enjoyed how the DVD is set up:
– You hold each pose for 8 breaths and then follow that pose with a toning move that works the same muscles and has an identical flow of movement. For example, you hold a crescent lunge for 8 breaths, and then go into lunges with pulsing lunges at the end.
-Iโve never tried this type of workout pattern and it amazed me how quickly it fatigued my muscles. By the end of every single set, I was shaking like a leaf.
-Another bonus: I want to be friends with Mandy. She cracked me up with her little anecdotes and her mantra (!!!), and she has an extremely likeable personality. Sometimes I canโt wait for yoga instructors to STOP talking (cough *Dave Farmar* cough), but I wanted to go out for coffee with Mandy when the DVD was over.
-Once you memorize the proper form and Mandyโs script, you can view the workout in silence with soft music in the background. I really like having this option because memorizing certain flows and podcasts keeps me from doing them over again. This way, I can keep doing the workout without knowing what sheโs going to say before she says it.
– This DVD is a yoga and traditional strength training hybrid. Itโs cool because it offers something new and different for yogis and weight trainers alike (and if you usually do both, itโs a fun combination).
– I give this DVD two almond butter-covered thumbs up and would recommend it to any yoga or fitness lover. The workout is effective, easy to follow and a total blasty. And if it makes my booty look as good as Mandyโs when Iโm her age, Iโm all about it ๐
Have a great day, bloggies!
xoxo,
Gina
Something to talk about: Are you a big workout DVD fan?? What are your favorites? I donโt usually do DVDs at home, but theyโre amazing for traveling and for shaking things up a bit. My favorites are all of the Zumba DVDs, Mandyโs yoga DVD and the Winsor pilates DVDs.
I LOVE me some Mandy Ingber YogA!!! AND, I am sure this has been asked of you a billion times, but can you please Recomend the raw goat cheese you eat, it always looks so dolesh but when I asked for it at trader joes they looked at me like I was crazy and could not see to find it @ whole foods!!! Pah-leeease help a cheese addict out and assist in my desperate challenge of weeening myself off cheese a bit!!! ๐
hey megan,
it’s the alta dena brand they have it by the deli cheese (like by the sandwich meat and yogurt) in whole foods ๐
This DVD looks awesome. I’m sure I’ll buy it at some point, but it’s pretty darn expensive, so I’m just kind of waiting it out to see if it ever becomes available on Amazon or something so I can get free shipping. I also wanted to know if it was worthy of the hype, so thanks very much for your review!!
I am a big fan of workout DVDs, but I also have a short attention span, so it has to be fast-paced or I’ll get bored. Also, I have about 20 DVDs (so far), and I do a different one everyday so I don’t get sick of any one workout (plus, that makes it more challenging for my body). My favorites are Jillian Michaels’ “Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism” & “No More Trouble Zones.” These burn hella calories & are so challenging! I also love the Core Fusion DVDs, and Ana & Ravi’s kundalini yoga DVDs.
Jeez, this is the longest comment EVERRRRRR.
Lastly – Last week, I ordered the new Physique 57 DVDs as a Christmas present to myself, so I really hope those become a new favorite!
I also bought this dvd recently but have not started as yet, just out of curiosity how many calories do you burn with 30min sessions and the 55min one. Call me crazy or whatever but all of sudden I am obsessed with counting calories (burning and eating)
I also really love working out to this DVD. IT’s not annoying like other yoga dvd’s, where the instructor waxes on about new agey BS. She’s funny and charming. I also want to be friends with Mandy and would love to go for a coffee with after this amazing workout!
