Things I’ve learned [so far]
1. Baby clothes are so.stinking.cute. Way more fun than adult clothes, and wayyyy more fun than maternity clothes.
2. Letting go of control. Having this little baby kicking, growing and doing her thang, has really relaxed my type A personality. So many things are out of my control right now, and all I can do is educate myself, give myself the best environment possible and enjoy the ride. It’s been weird/fun/interesting to actually “enjoy the ride” instead of planning out the entire agenda and Googling directions along the way 😉
3. When I’m no longer pregnant and I see a pregnant woman, I’ll remember all of the wonderful things I heard while I was pregnant, and all of the things that were said that made my heart sink. Positive energy is so important in life, especially when you’re growing a human inside your belly, who feels the things that you feel (happiness and elation, but also stress and sadness). I’ll tell her she looks absolutely beautiful, which is a great thing to hear when you feel awkward.
4. I can already see some similarities in our little girl. She’s a night owl like her daddy (kicks and flips all night!), loves Zumba music, and also won’t perform under pressure (like someone else I know). When I was younger, my mom and nana used to want me to sing to EVERYONE, and I was so embarrassed. The only times I would do it usually involved some kind of bribe (terrible). Whenever the baby is kicking, I’ll tell my mom to come and feel her, because she’s only felt one kick and no one else has felt anything. As soon as my mom or anyone puts their hand on my belly, the kicking stops.
The only exception is her dad- she’ll kick for him anytime. He’ll lightly press down on my belly and she’ll kick back- it’s like a fun little game the two of them have.
5. Trusting in my body. I’ve been able to keep up a pretty solid fitness routine –very different than pre-pregnancy, but still there- but am just focusing on what feels good. Zumba still feels pretty good and a thousand times better since I got the belly support belt. It was my first time teaching wearing it yesterday, and it did the trick: perfect amount of support and wasn’t too hot. My body will let me know when it’s time to start the Zumba hiatus, or the same thing will happen to me that happened to my friend at work: she was teaching a crazy dance class with live drums and shaking it (and this girl can SHAKE IT), and my boss saw her and told her she was done, haha.
6. To enjoy every moment, even the not-so-fun parts, because it really does go by so quickly! I’m almost 30 weeks and the finish line is in sight. It doesn’t feel like too long ago, when I was talking to Tom on FaceTime and crying over the happy news.
7. Sometimes it’s ok to tell people what baby name you’ve chosen. Almost everyone over here knows, so I thought I’d give you one more letter 😉
Hmmm are those letters in order? I’m intrigued!
Alicia?
Thats what I thought since i first saw the letters! (but I may be a little biased cause thats my name! Lol) if it is my question is will they pronounce it like the singer or the actress?
My guess is still Olivia!
I’m going with olivia too!
that first pic is just adorable!!
Abigail? I’m going to keep guessing all day
I love baby clothes. I always die from the cuteness whenever I see the little bitty booties and clothes! Can’t wait to hear the name!
Allie? Alliana?
You’re such a tease! Can’t wait to find out her name & finally see her! I think ALL pregnant women are beautiful! I had twins and was huge and people never stopped saying things about how big I was.
Your body will definitely know when you’re done. I knew when I couldn’t get decent form on square because my belly was just to big to go very low! But, you can always walk (as long as you feel well enough) so you don’t feel like a slug. Just remember, even if you don’t feel like working out, your body is very busy making something amazing and so exciting!
Squats…damn you auto-correct!
I guess Olivia but also Mikalia (many spellings) Hailie
whatever name you decided on, it’s shaping up to be adorable!! The letters you decorated turned out so stinking CUTE!
Still going with Olivia!
Is it Jillian?
I think it is Olivia 😉
Can’t be Olivia bc the letter “I” would need to be the same color, if you are doing every other purple ; )
Do you know how smart you are? honestly. I didn’t even think of that. Good going
I noticed that too! If the letters alternate, then it also rules out “Abigail”, because the “L” wouldn’t be purple. Gotta love puzzles 🙂
yeah i thought about this originally but i’ve since ruled it out as an absolute thing.. it could be every two, or something.
Hmm Abigail was my first thought! Malia? Olivia is a great name too!
Amelia 🙂 What do I win? Roons? LOL
It can’t be, because there is only one ‘i’ in Amelia. 😀
ahhhh you are right!!! 🙂
Aww i was really hoping her name would be Allison;) Whatever it is im sure it will be pretty:):) And ill make sure i tell all the pregnant ladies i see that they look beautiful!
I am thinking either Olivia or Abigail! Both are beautiful! And you look stunning!
The letters look so pretty! Did you free-hand the designs? I can’t wait to find out what name you’ve picked. My first thought is always Olivia when I see the letters. I have a hunch it’s something a little less common though. I’m sure what ever it is, it will be perfect for her.
And you look amazing! Your happiness and excitement shine through practically every pic you’ve posted since you announced the big news. If I ever get pregnant, I hope it suits me as well as it has you.
yes, the pilot did some, and i did some. we based them off the designs in her bedding 🙂
thank you- i appreciate to kind words so much <3
enjoy your weekend!
Iliana? Olivia? Hailie? Lilian? Ilaina?
So intrigued. Either way, you and the pilot are going to be great parents!
Until the 2nd “I”, I was gonna say Allison…now I’m thinking Abigail!
You look amazing Gina! My guess for the name is Liliana. 🙂
I have two kids, and it’s really interesting as they grow to see similarities between how you changed during pregnancy and how they behave. I’ve noticed the same with the foods I craved and the foods they love. So cool. I’ve been reading your blog for about 9 months, and I feel like you’re a friend. 🙂 I’m so happy for you and Tom!!
I AM CONVINCED ITS MY NAME!!!! KAILA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would be so happy!!! LOL!
I am sure whatever it is though it will fit her perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember someone suggested Giuliana…. That’s my pick. 🙂
A trick to get kicks from your lil nugget is to be quiet. Baby wants to hear your voice… baby kicks. Try it! 🙂
ohhh, good to know! i’ll definitely try it!
My guess is Lorilai, which can be spelled many ways! Olivia makes sense too.
Gina,
That photo of you is breathless. You need to frame it for the baby! You look awesome!
I agree. And your hair looks fantastic!
I agree…so beautiful!
aww, thank you!
What a nice post! You learn SO much during your pregnancy … and even more when you hold your little one the first time. Mine is 2 weeks old and I feel like she has taught me so much already 🙂
Lilian..Olivia… Felicia!! hahah 🙂
I can’t believe you’re almost 30 weeks…wow, congrats….it’s going by so fast. For me 🙂 Sitting here on the sidelines.
“I’ll tell her she looks absolutely beautiful, which is a great thing to hear when you feel awkward. ” — amen. I too remember the things that people said to me, about my appearance, or parenting advice, or what to do with baby advice, and some of it was appreciated, most wasn’t! haha! And some things did make my heart sink. You are so wise to remember this and to pass the good stuff on to the next pregnant lady you know…I try to do the same 🙂
I guess Lillian, which is a name I love <3
I’m sure whatever name you’ve chosen is beautiful!
Love that pic of you. It’s so natural and beautiful.
It is hard to just let things happen, especially in the body department.
You’ll see how much you miss being pregnant when you see other pregnant women after the baby comes. Your posts always make me nostalgic! Although, having them on the outside definitely trumps anything!
Can’t wait to hear the name! No one knew our name till we had her, mostly because I decided between the two we liked when I saw her!
Isabella? Olivia!?
You are so wise, and will continue to learn and grow. Watching your journey has been a gift. I wish you all the blessings in the world.
Gina I haven’t been commenting much on your blog (I’ve been reading blogs on my phone and commenting is a PITA that way) but I wanted to just tell you that I love these Family posts — they seriously make me cry! For a while I thought it was a bad thing that I was crying and thinking about babies too often, but the more I think about it the more I realize that it is a good thing. Reading these posts make me so excited to have a baby some day. When will that be? I have no idea, but I’m excited about the possibilities. I appreciate all that you have shared on here and I can tell that you and the Pilot will be wonderful parents. <3
i’ve missed you! it was so nice to see your face again 🙂 i definitely understand what you mean about commenting on phones. i read all blogs on my phone, so it’s hard for me to comment, too.
hope you have a great weekend! <3
Leila? Lila?
That’s a great picture! With the crib and bassinet (BTW, What company is the bassinet from???) And you look fabulous! And I’m totally not saying that because you mentioned how nice it was to get compliments. You are one of those adorable pregnant women with a little belly sticking out of your perfectly fit body! I’m not even going to guess on the name, I’m sure it’s beautiful =O)
Is it Liliana??
My guess is Liliana.
oh i love this Gina. To see you grow through this pregnancy is so sweet and I love all things you’ve learned. I know your little girl will be a zumba cutie that you can tote around to classes. have a wonderful weekend!
thank you, lovely! enjoy your weekend, too!
My first guess was Lillian!
Hmmm…Kailie? Aillie? I don’t know! So many possibilities….
By the way, the first picture of you is gorgeous. Your hair looks so good!!
Claire was the exact same way! She’d kick for me and she’d kick for her Daddy but if I was even around anyone else she wouldn’t do anything detectable to the outside world. My Sister was the only other person that got to feel her move the entire time I was preggo, which was nice since it turned out she was deployed when I was due.
The first name that popped into my head was Liliana. 🙂
Olivia 🙂
I loved reading this post. I loved everything you said and can relate to it all!!! I especially love the part about how her and Tom have a little game when he presses on your belly. Ella was a stubborn Taurus from the beginning…she would always get shy whenever anyone wanted to feel her kicks!!!
Your bassinette is so cute and you really are so gorgeous pregnant! Your hair looks so great by the way!
Oh I wish we knew how many letters there were total! 😉 So many possibilities!
Delilah!? It was the first thing that popped into my head 🙂
Err nevermind, just noticed there are two “i”s 🙂
Gabriela, Abigail or Olivia!
