Too Legit

Hi guys 😀 How’s it going?? Hope you’re having a fabulous day!

I started mine with something that’s been MIA in my life for too long…

a Fitnessista breakfast cookie!

bfast cookie

This baby had:

1/2 C oats

1 serving Nutribiotic brown rice protein (it’s no Sun Warrior, but I forgot mine in Valdizzy and picked up the Nutribiotic as a sub for the week)

almond milk

1/2 smashed nanner

1/2 T chia seeds

1 T almond butter

1/2 T maca

It was amazing, and the perfect fuel for a crazy spin class. Israel, my favorite spin teacher EVER (and I’ve been spinning for 5 years) has an awesome Puerto Rican accent and yells at everyone during class (like, “SHOW ME!”, “Go, go!!” and “keep that beat!’”)—he knows almost everyone’s name and while he called me Gina on Tuesday, today he called me by my full name, which is Angelina. (He pronounced the “g” with an “h” sound. Baller). It was pretty funny 😉

After spin, I did a half hour of weights (triceps, chest, back and a little abs) and then came home for protein power.

A smoothie with:

-frozen organic dark cherries

-the other half of the banana from this morning’s bfast cookie

-almond milk

-brown rice protein

smoothie

The henna tattoo looks pretty legit, huh??

I texted a pic of it to my brother, who is the tattoo king.

(910): Check out my sweet tat.

(520): You’re so lame, haha.

Thanks, buddy 😉

I spent the afternoon doing some work on the computer and then met two lovely blog girls for lunch at Heaven on Earth (aka Whole Foods, or Whole Paycheck): Charlie and Katy!

I wasn’t too starving since I’d had the smoothie and a copious amount of dark chocolate eggs, but I still managed to find something feast-able 😉

hot bar

A lil salad with Annie’s Raspberry Vinaigrette and yucca fries. Garlicky, starchy glory.

And some bacteria action:

kombucha

I can’t believe I used to hate kombucha- it’s SO good 😀 Now, I chug that stuff frat boy style… if I could crush the bottle with my hand afterwards, I so would 😉

I’m back at my aunt’s casa and we’re hitting up Urban Flatts for dinner.

See ya in the morning <3

xoxo,

Gina

Today’s tip: While spinning, try to stand with just your fingertips on the bike. I see so many people clutching the handlebars for dear life! By easing up on the handles, you rely more on leg power (and get a better workout!) while reducing the chance of hurting your wrists.

    Love the tat! 😉

  41. Tee on April 8, 2010 at 9:57 pm

I find it REALLY offensive when people refer to Whole Foods as Whole Paycheck. I work for the company and know for a fact that we keep our 365 brand items at comparable if not CHEAPER prices. Furthermore, no one forced you to go in and spend your “whole paycheck.” You made that decision on your own. And why complain about the getting the most bang for your buck on superior food?? If you want low quality, nasty meat, then go pay the lower price somewhere else. And be a smart shopper–if chobani yogurts are on sale at Stop and Shop, than buy them there. But don’t complain about spending a fortune on blueberries when you consciously put the local or organic ones in your cart. Shop the sales, shop the store brand, and be aware. You’re paying for Whole Foods’ quality standards and reassurance that you are getting the best product possible, and in the long run, that’s a very, very small price to pay. So you can either spend some money on maintaining your health now, or you can spend a whole lotta paychecks later in life trying to fix it. Remember, it’s your choice.

    • Katherine on April 8, 2010 at 10:27 pm

I only say that as a joke to point fun at myself when I spend money there. I think most people say it all in good fun, but I’m glad you are saying how offensive it is. I have never meant it that way, but now that you point out it can be offensive, I’ll stop. I love the company!

    • gina (fitnessista) on April 8, 2010 at 10:37 pm

Hey girl I say ‘whole paycheck’ lovingly. I’m more than happy to spend the money I spend there, just tend to go

      a little buck wild 🙂

  42. Kristina on April 8, 2010 at 10:05 pm

Whoa, Tee! Fitnessista- I hear ya! I love the place, and go there almost daily but I also affectionatley grumble about how much $$$$$ I cough up for the goods.
Thought yer comment about crushing the Kombocha frat boy style was funny ;P
Glad you’re feeling better after the knee thing!
    Have a great night~

  43. Cyndi on April 8, 2010 at 10:11 pm

The tattoo is completely unnecessary … ugh !!! Sorry. “It’s not you it’s me”.

But I love Kombucha! It is a treat and a medicine all rolled into one.

  44. Tessah on April 8, 2010 at 10:14 pm

Tee, you got shares in Whole P.. er, Foods, or something?!

  45. Heather on April 8, 2010 at 10:20 pm

You…hate…Kombucha!?!?!?!?! Never would I dare think that!?!?! lol…I’ve loved it since the first time my lips pressed against that $3+ glass bottle of glorious drank!

Also, people clutching the handle bars in spin….I’m gasping!!!! That’s a no no!!!! haha. I heart a good extra sweaty spin class!

  49. Edith on April 8, 2010 at 11:48 pm

Angelina is such a pretty name! It’s a little shocking, you’ve always been Gina… I don’t know what to say. Thanks for telling us? haha.

  50. Dominique on April 9, 2010 at 12:19 am

I like your henna tattoo! It looks like something I should do while I wait to get my next tat–which won’t be for a while. Whenever I see someone else’s tattoo (like your bro’s), it makes me itch for another.

I’ve only drank Kombucha once (in Central Park while on vacay) and I hated it too. That was last July and I haven’t drank it since then. I can’t remember which flavour it was–I’ll have to look back at my blog–but I’m really afraid at giving it another go. While at WF the other day (I like your “Whole Paycheck” name for it), I was telling my boyfriend that maybe I should give it another go but then he reminded me about my initial reaction to the drink–which was NOT pretty.
