Was August Awesome? [giveaway]
*******************************This giveaway ended Sept. 1, 2011 at 10:30 EST. Stay tuned for the next one!
At the beginning of this month, I posted a list of 10 Ways to Make August Awesome. It’s always fun to have some monthly motivation and goals, so I’ll probably do similar lists for each month 😀
Bella’s August in a snapshot:
Here’s what was on there and how I did with my own personal list:
1. Have something to look forward to. For me, it was Healthy Living Summit – just as amazing as I anticipated it to be. The best part? Getting the Pilot away from work for a weekend so he could join me 😉
2. Create a goal for the month. First my goal was to practice more yoga, but it just didn’t happen. I just feel awkward and uncomfortable, especially since I can’t rock out handstands or arm balances right now, so I didn’t practice as much as I would have liked. [Looking back, it’s such a lame excuse. If I want to do it, I should do it, that’s all there is to it] Instead, I began to work on another goal that may come into fruition, but I’m superstitious and won’t post about it until all is bueno 😉
3. Plan a dinner party. Done and done! Now that our house has been “warmed” and 99.9% of our stuff is unpacked, we can start to have frequent smaller dinner parties like we used to. I’m so excited 😀
4. Go through your summer clothes and determine which ones you’d like to get rid of before storing the rest for fall and winter. I actually did this one before I posted this list, and my closet feels SO good! Bonus: room for new clothes! Heh heh.
5. Go for a swim! This didn’t happen. I thought it would motivate me to do it, but nope. I’m a floater, not a swimmer 😉
6. Pick up a new cookbook to try this month, or borrow one from a friend. This was exciting because I unpacked all of my cookbooks, including 3 new ones that I didn’t get to use before we moved from Valdosta. I can’t wait to bust into them!
[We have another shelf full of cookbooks, too. Forgotten treasures!!]
7. Sign up for a fitness event with a friend. I haven’t done this one yet, but am seriously considering the spring half marathon here in Tucson. I was supposed to do it this past year, but didn’t since I went to LA instead for Gatorade. This one will be about 12 weeks after the baby is born, so I’ll walk/run it, but really want to add some running back into my routine. I miss the “ex boyfriend” – it’s funny how you miss things when you can’t do them 😉 I ran a little first trimester, but it felt weird after a while so I stopped.
8. Scope out some new jeans for fall. This one happens on an almost daily basis. My pick for fall:
Love the cut, wash, length, everything 🙂
9. Go out for a girls night 😀 I’m lucky to be surrounded by girls in the squadron who always want to hang out- we did quite a few dinners and movie nights 🙂
10. Eat a pizookie. This one actually didn’t happen! The Pilot and I were planning a pizookie date, and then he had to work late that night and we just didn’t go. I did have fondue this month, though 😉
So was your August Awesome?
Here’s one more way for that to happen:
You see, I bought a boatload of macaroon supplies for HLS and didn’t have time to make them before our trip.
I love almonds, but I don’t think I need 3 lbs 😉
So I’d love to make a custom batch of macaroons for a reader- any flavor: Meyer lemon lavender, blonde, chocolate, mocha, chocolate almond butter, super roon [Of course, other things may sneak their way into the package, too]

Coming to your neck of the woods on Saturday – Sedona 🙂 Can.Not.Wait!! Anything you’d recommend as a must see while i’m out there? Me, my husband and another couple are coming out to celebrate our 5 yr. anniversaries & after all of the Irene stress (we live in North NJ) we will be enjoying this vacation to the max! xoxo
It sounds like you did really well with your goals! Impressive. My August was pretty awesome, although I’m still looking for a job. BUT I was able to get started on some writing projects that are making me really happy. 🙂
Hi Gina! Love the blog. One great thing about my August was getting into the kitchen more often. I love baking, and it was so nice to do it more often!
I love that you are posting preggo stuff – since I am too, it’s fun to read 🙂
You’ve inspired me to do a “monthly to-do” list…usually mine is daily or MAYBE even weekly but Ive never done it by month. And since most of these are FUN, I think I may need to get on it!
I love the fact that you link “how-to’s” to the workouts you post. While I know many of the exercises, sometimes I just can’t remember their name or the correct way to do them. Thank you!
I loved your August list… it really inspired me to make my month awesome 🙂 I ran my second 5k and finally finished decorating my bedroom (i moved in the beginning of June)! I truly love reading your blog, it always is so positive and always brightens my day.
Sooo I would love to see more lists like the august list!
August was kind of awesome, but I’m ready for September & for fall! Love those jeans you linked to… may have to snap those up! 🙂
My August was awesome! I got married! 🙂
I really want to try your macaroons…. Please let it be me who wins! 😀
Never commented much before but I love your genuineness in your posts… really makes me want to keep reading. And of course I super enjoy when you post recipes so then I have new things to try out 🙂 Your macaroons look fabulous so who wouldn’t want to win them really. Have an stellar day!
Thanks for offering this giveaway! I’m a relatively new reader and I’m so glad I found your blog because it’s given me the motivation to focus on my nutrition and workout routines in a way that I never did before. It also introduced me to your cookie dough cereal which is one of my new favorites!
My August was awesome-I started a blog two days ago 🙂 there’s not much to it yet, but I’m working on it! I’d love the mocha macaroons…shoot, I love all the flavors!
This august I threw my sister her baby shower! It will be the first great granchild in the family and will be here in 5 weeks! I love reading about your pregnancy stories and comparing to what my sister is going through too!
I love your blog- it always brings a smile to my face! Nice giveaway 🙂 It’d be awesome to win some of your famous macaroons (the chocolate almond butter sound divine). I really like when you post some of your daily eats…I often get ideas for my own meals that way. And…it’s really refreshing that you’re so open and honest about your pregnancy!
I love the family posts–definitely keep them coming! I love to see how things are progressing and what you’re learning along the way!
Adore your bloggy!! If there was anything I’d like to see more of it’d be some recipe videos or another Q&A with you and the pilot again 🙂 Those are always too cute!
There’s nothing I would change about your blog, but I can’t wait until your daughter is born so that we can read about your new family adventures!
I love how you made goals and then reported on how you did in regards to attaining them! I think you just motivated me to do the same for September!!!!
And…. I am embarasssed to admit, but I have never tried a macaroon but would love to give some of your famous ones a try and set the macaroon bar extra high!
My August has been awesome, because I met someone! ; )
August was pretty awesome…but I’m definitely ready for September! I love your fool-proof recipes! I’ve been “practicing” how to cook lately and I recently made your sweet potato + [white] bean chili…omggggggggg I ate it all in like 3 days.
I LOVE your blog! I really think you know what you’re doing 😉
Can’t wait for more baby posts and to hear about your book deal (because I KNOW that’s going to happen for you, girl).
Thank you for inspiring me to remain healthy and giving me little bursts of happiness throughout the day 🙂
I love your blog!! I started reading a few months ago and you are an inspiration to me and others as well. I have lost 86 pounds with about 50 more to go 🙂 I started my weight loss journey Jan. 1st, 2011. I have taken a lot of your advice and started eating raw and natural foods and avoiding processed foods. I count my calories and workout 5-6 days a week. Love your blog (especially the family page) and would love to win some of your famous ‘roons! 🙂
I definitely tried to include more yoga into my August as well. Though that didn’t really happen for me…
Gina,
I am so impressed at your list ( I remember the post in the beginning of the month) and you did accomplish quite a bit! I mean, cmon you are pregnant too!
I had a good August, no complaints at all! I always get a lot done with my lists just like you. 🙂
your journey to get pregnant has been inspiring to read. my husband and i are currently taking fertility treatments to become pregant, it’s been nice to read someone elses experiences so i don’t feel like i’m the only one struggling with this.
My August goal was to move out of my apartment in Boston, rent an apartment in Chicago, and start making my way out there. I succeed in these goals! I move to Chicago in two weeks, and am excited/sad to see Boston go. My goal for September will be to enjoy the last few days in Boston and get ready to embrace Chicago whole heartedly!
I love, love, love your blog and so enjoy reading about your pregnancy! I also love to do your fitness routines, they are always awesome! I have actually never had a macaroon so I think I need to win your batch :). Have a great day!
Hi Gina, I’ve responded to a couple of your posts over the last 8 months or so and I just want to say thank you! Reading your blog has inspired me in so many ways to become a healthier, happier person. Had I not stumbled upon it, I don’t think I would have changed my life so drastically. Since reading I have: lost 23 lbs, became a certified Zumba, Aqua Zumba instructor, certified for teaching group fitness and have adopted a much better eating routine. You, the pilot, Bella and your beautiful lima bean on the way make my day so much better! I appreciate your exercise wisdom and humorous posts, and certainly did so all the way through August. 🙂
Love macaroons! I would make them myself; but my oven’s broken 🙁
August was fairly uneventful, other than today where I finally worked out properly for the first time in about 6 months (I was never that motivated anyway, but then got injured and never started even after I healed)! It was nothing major – 30 minutes interval jogging/walking and your Ab workout from the Summer Shape up, plus a quick arm routine and a 2 minute plank I was very proud of! – but at least it was something right? My goal for September us definitely to keep it up, and start one of your shape up routines when I’m a bit fitter. Your blog is great motivation <3
August was a pretty good month for me, but I’m sure September will be even better because I’ll be finished with school!!! 🙂 (btw, there is nothing I would change about your blog…I LOVE IT!)
Love your blog! Especially the recipes, I am trying to eat healthier and need all the help I can get.
Thanks!!
Love your blog & recipes! Especially love your amazeballs & vegan almond butter cookies. I make them ALL the time. 🙂
August was tough to be honest (I’m now single and live in a new place) but macaroons sure would perk me up! Plus I’m determined to make September super.
I love your blog! I really look forward to reading your posts so thanks for letting your readers into your life! 🙂
I started my freshman year at university! So I spent my august getting ready for it!
I love your blog! My August was really busy! I moved cities and started law school all within 3 weeks! Your blog is a distraction that I look forward to during the day 🙂
Hi 🙂 Something fun about my august…I ran 188 miles! More than I ever have in a month before 🙂
I had a great end to August! I went to Vegas and tried Mon Ami Gabi (per your and many others recommendation!). The trip was so much fun!
You don’t need any recommendations from me! Your blog is perf.
Hi Gina! I’ve been trying to get my hands on these macaroons for a while now- the price always gets a little rich for my budget in the blogger bake sales. I love reading about your pregnancy, especially about how you are changing little things in your eating habits and workouts each trimester. idd some of the arm/shoulder workouts from the video you posted the other day! I also love to hear about your teaching classes (as a fellow instructor), vegan recipes (I’m attempting), and anything with the pilot is always great! 😉
August was great! Found out I’m pregnant!! 🙂
I love the cookbook idea! In fact, I wonder if we could do a cookbook swap? i have a hard time spending $ on a cookbook when most of my recipes come from blogs anyway. 🙂 but i would surely swap!
I love your blog! I am a college studend and I decided to start this year off with a new, healthier me. Your blogs inspire me to try new things I wouldn’t normally try. I’m always excited to see what your next post is about!
Ooo fun giveaway. I’d love to try the famous ‘roons I’ve heard so much about.
Hi! First off, I love reading your blog, you seem so sweet! I started reading your blog a couple months ago and now i’m hooked and usually pop in everyday or so to see what’s new and exciting! 🙂 I always read about your macaroons and I would love to win a batch!!!
Have a good Wednesday! 🙂
Hi Gina!
Love your blog! And I would love to try your macaroons! You continue to inspire and challenge me to think outside the box for workouts, eats and now fashion! I’m thinking I’m gluten sensitive so need to cut it out completely and see how my body feels, and a batch of lovely macaroons might be the extra icing on my new gluten free cake!
For August – I did 8 yoga classes at a new to me studio. It was a lovely challenge…I love hot and power!
Hi Gina! Thanks for the giveaway…I would love to try your famous macaroons! I would be nice to read more posts about putting outfits together and just random everyday stories like you always do!
