Baby Ganoush

in bloggy friends,I'm really Indian,lunch,opensky,raw,snack,workout

Hi guys! Hope you’ve had a wonderful Indian Food Wednesday. Thank you so much to those of you who have already hit up the Sun Warrior deal – I replenished my stash, too :) The promo is good until Friday, or until we run out!

The inspiration for today’s post title:

Thanks, Evan! :) Love it even more because babaganoush is very similar to my favorite Indian dish, baigan bhartha.

Meet Baby Ganoush.

Made of 75% Indian buffet:

indian

(Channa masala, cabbage, dal, a couple potaters, spinach and gajar halwa)

and 25% roti:

roti

Oh roti, I just want to curl up and live in you.

roti (2)

The Pilot and I came back to the casa, he went back to work, I took a nap with the puppers on the couch (a wee bit exhausted this afternoon), and then put on the only Lululemon shirt I own:

lulu

and did some yoga.

017

(60 minute hip opening flow a la YogaDownload.com)

Namaste, yo.

018

Hahaha. That pose would be called “Flying Ninja.”

(Can someone please give me some DSLR self-timer tips?? All the pics were blurry)

Viesa judged my yoga goofing.

vies

I just grabbed an apple with mesquite and cinnamon:

and am about to head back to work. :D

Have a great night and I’ll see ya in the morning!

xoxo,

Gina

Once I asked someone how to spell baba ganoush, and he told me, “B-A-B-A…ganoush.”

Totally perfect name for Indian food baby.

Judgmental dog is…judgmental.

Emma August 25, 2010 at 6:06 pm

I think its because when you set the self timer, there’s nothing in the background for the camera to focus on so it gets all confused and is blurry when you step into the picture as it’s not focusing on you, or if you were stood in front of the camera its forcused onto a much closer range. I’ve had this problem too! Get a remote for it is ideal, or else you could try putting something into the frame (or not standing in front of the camera) and move it out of the way when you jump into the picture to take theshot. Hope that makes sense!

Why is it that the dogs have to be ON the yoga mat? Mine know I don’t want them on it (don’t like doing downward dog in dog hair), so they get as close as possible to it without touching it. It’s pretty funny.

Reply

Fitnessista August 25, 2010 at 8:23 pm

roti is whole wheat, naan is completely white flour

I have had that same problem with setting the self timer. It’s annoying.

Reply

Carrie Fette August 25, 2010 at 7:35 pm

Definitely get a timer if you are doing self portraits. OR grab a stuffed animal about where your head will be and focus on that before you set the timer! That should help!

How to fix your timer issues: Easiest fix – Turn off auto-focus and manual focus to about the spot you’ll be at when the shutter goes off. If you have a hard time trying to focus to an empty space (which is hard to do) take a few photos until you find the sweet spot.

You’ll want to make sure you’re shooting at smaller aperture to get a better depth of field, that way your focus doesn’t have to be dead on.

Some cameras have different timer-focus functions that you can set. I recommend reading that 1000 page tome of information that comes with your camera.

If you need more tips just e-mail me.

Love the Lululemon top!! Looks super comfy.

Reply

Lauren @NoFauxFood August 25, 2010 at 8:04 pm

for your dslr, it focuses when you first hit the shutter. You either want to put something there so it can focus, if you cant do that put it on manual focus, then focus on something in that part of the room and then hit the self timer shutter. if you focus on the wall behind you, then it’ll make you blurry.

Reply

Lauren @NoFauxFood August 25, 2010 at 8:06 pm

oh and try getting a remote, those things are AWESOME :)

Love the food baby’s name. And the flying ninja. ;)

For pictures to not be blurry be sure your shutter speed is really fast. At least 1/125 second.

Reply

Alexa@Living La Vida Pura August 25, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Faster shutter speed = less blurry. But remember to adjust the ISO and aperture to make up for a faster shutter speed so that the image is still properly exposed.

I finally made your Vegan Chocolate Mug Cake after staring at that post for 3 days! FANTASTIC! The only difference in mine was using millet flour for a gluten-free version, 1 T of unsweetened applesauce, and a sprinkle of brown sugar because I don’t have stevia. I also made a simple chocolate sauce from 1/2 T melted chocolate chips and 1/2 T applesauce. So good! I’ll be making it for the boy very soon :)

Hey…I was reading my Cooking Light magazine, and saw this recipe and thought of you and your Indian Food Wednesday! It is a Indian Yogurt Dip that sounds right up your alley :) Let me know if you try it!

Indian-style basic raita: combine 1½ cups plain low-fat yogurt, ¾ cup chopped seeded peeled cucumber, ¾ cup chopped seeded tomato, ¼ teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon garam masala. Cover and chill before serving.

So what do you think of the new yoga gear? Do you like it more than your usual workout clothes? I think their tanks are great for yoga because they actually stay put when you are(or trying to)invert;) And even when doing the vinyasas, other tops that I have tried move around and expose the belly or back…I’m not a fan of exposing those areas or worring about tugging at my top while trying to clear my mind and focus on the poses! That color looks great on you btw!!!

Reply

Fitnessista August 26, 2010 at 12:44 pm

i’m trying to deny it… but i’m obsessed already. i wore the lulu pants to work last night and when i came home, i left them on until i went to bed because they were SO comfy.
