Serious Cereal

Hi guys! How are ya? Hope you’re having a lovely morning <3

Since I’ve been feasting on b-fast cookie dough cereal for a few weeks now, I thought it would be fun to do a how-to post similar to the original breakfast cookie post :)

There are two versions: Original and Raw

For the original version:

1. In a bowl, add 1/3-1/2 C oats, 1/2 scoop protein powder of choice (Sun Warrior is my fave), cinnamon, pinch of sea salt, a lil vanilla extract and some Stevia or sweetener of choice

oats

2. Mix well to combine. Add 1-2 T of your favorite nut butter and using a spoon, break up and stir until mixture resembles crumbly cookie dough.

crumbles

3. Top with at least 1 C milk of choice, and then add fun toppings. Get crazy :D I love goji berries, cacao nibs, banana, peaches, strawberries… the possibilities are endless.

4. Feast :)

For the raw version:

1. In a bowl, soak 1/3-1/2 C oat groats (available in the bulk section of most health food stores) overnight.

groats

2. Drain and rinse the groats, then add them to a small food processor. Pulse to break up the oat groats a bit. Add 1/2 scoop protein powder (Sun Warrior will keep the “raw” integrity of the oats), 1-2 T raw nut butter, cinnamon, pinch of sea salt and a little sweetener if you’d like. Pulse to combine.

Mixture will be crumbly:

3. Transfer mixture to a bowl and add 1 C fresh nut milk (love almond milk) and toppings of choice.

4. Feast :D

So there ya go! Please let me know if any of ya’ll try it :) It’s a perfect breakfast choice for Summer, but I can definitely see myself getting into hot oats again when the weather changes.

I’m off to do some yoga and then get back to the packing/moving beast.

See ya later today with a post on fall change/resolutions and a re-visit to the ol’ inspiration board.

xoxo,

Gina

Something to do: Last day for the Sun Warrior promo! The price is the best on the internet- $35 for a container (which is usually about $50), 2 containers for $65. *Click here* to get yo warrior on :)

Finally tried this fo’ breakfast this morning. I’ve been hooked on the cookie and overnight oats for some time and I was wondering how this cereal would be. It’s amazingly good to be so “simple.” Yet another fitnessista creation to add to my recipe rotation. Thanks! ;)

I have been eyeing this breakfast for a couple of days, I finally tried it this morning and ohhhhhh boyyyy. I used chocolate protein powder, left the cinnamon out, and used PB2… it’s like a party in my mouth haha. I may have to make this for lunch too! :)

Holy mama! I just made the cookie dough cereal for the first time (eating it now!) and it is GLORIOUS! I love the cinnamon-y, almond buttery goodness and all the different textures going on! Changes I made: nixed the protein powder, used agave nectar as the sweetener, and topped with frozen blueberries. This is my new favorite breakfast. I’ll be blogging about this later today! Thanks, G!! :D

I tried this for the first time this morning (a friend linked to this page from twitter because she tried it first) and it was amazing! It filled me up too – which was very surprising! :)

Hi Gina-

I love this recipe and will be picking up the ingredients to make it tonight! Quick question – what kind of oats do you use? Quick oats? Old fashioned rolled oats?

Thanks!

This looks great! But I’m slightly confused.. is this the same thing as old fashioned oat meal but uncooked? I think I’m going to try this for breakfast this week!

New to your blog. Just tried this and it’s delicious and healthy. I always have a hard time cramming in protein at breakfast so this is great. Next time I will try oat “flour” (ground up oats) and a whole scoop of protein (I use Progressive Organics Whey in Vanilla) for a good-til-supper version. Thanks!

Gina,
I finally took your advice and bought sunwarrior. Then I tried your breakfast cookie dough cereal. oh. my. god. I’m obsessed! It’s so good!!! Lady, you’re a genius. And not that it has anything to do with the cereal, but since I’m popping out of the woodwork to leave a comment I have to include a congratulations on the birth of your beeeeeautiful baby girl.. and even more beautiful name for her. Sending much health and happiness your way!
