Sweets for Sandy- ENDED

Here is the list of all of the goodies that will be up for auction, all proceeds going to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, starting right now! Bidding will continue throughout the day tomorrow (FRIDAY) and will end at midnight Friday night EST (11/9).

So here’s how it works:

-Pick the goodie(s) you would like to bid on

-Send an email to fitnessista at gmail dot com with this in the subject: SANDY AUCTION [ITEM NUMBER] [Current bid amount] – please follow this format as it will be so much easier for me to update the spreadsheet with the highest bids!

-I’ll email the current highest bidder back as I update this page throughout the day on Friday. I’ll tweet and Facebook to spread the word each time max bids are updated here!

-The winning bidder will have exactly 24 hours after the event ends to make their donation to the Red Cross. If this step isn’t completed in time, the respective items will then be offered to the next highest bidder.

-Please assume that all items are for US shipment only, unless otherwise indicated (like the macaroons)

Thank you so much to everyone who donated the following treats and goodies- I’m lucky to be surrounded by such a strong network of people willing to help others in need.

This has ENDED as of midnight EST on Friday night. Winning bid amounts are below. If multiple people bid at the same winning amount, the first person to email in their bid was chosen as the winner. ย Thank you again to everyone for your help and participation! I know your efforts will be appreciated by many in need.

Words can not express how awesome this is. I live in Toms River and I’m 5 minutes from Seaside…the sadness from the devastation from this storm is heartbreaking. There are so many families who’s lives have been completely flipped upside down in the matter of hours from Sandy…to know that you are doing this for those who weren’t so lucky is beyond amazing. It goes to show how people who are miles and miles away are helping out during this rough time is just above and beyond anything I can say. Thank you for doing this <3

I completely agree w/you Melissa. I’m from Jersey as well (Middlesex County). It is amazing the outpouring of support and help our state has received so far. A million thanks for what you’re doing on your blog. Just this past weekend I was helping organize donations to go to needy areas in our state and Staten Island, NY. People are extremely generous with donations to give those who lost everything from those of us who only lost power (I lost mine on Monday night and got it back Friday afternoon). Thank you, thank you, thank you. We will recover from this and the shore will be back and better than ever. God Bless.

  28. julie on November 9, 2012 at 3:43 pm

don’t get me wrong – i think it’s great that you’re doing this fundraiser and all but i’m from where we were directly hit and the money should go ANYWHERE else but the red cross – the red cross is NO WHERE to be found – like no where. there are no tents, no help – so i’m not sure what the red cross is doing with everyone’s money – but they’re most certainly not helping the people of new york! i talk with people everyday who don’t have homes, who have no water or clothing or anything left – and what they’re most disappointed about is the lack of red cross presence. again – i think it’s wonderful and amazing that you put this together but i would definitely think twice about sending the money to the red cross because it won’t be coming to the Sandy victims!

  29. Rochelle on November 9, 2012 at 5:14 pm

I just found out that the company I work for is also doing “dollar for dollar” contributions for the Red Cross. If I am the highest bidder for the cookies I want, then the amount donated will actually be DOUBLE the amount of my donation. How cool is that?

Anyway, I just wanted to suggest that others check with their employers, to see if they are offering similar opportunities. What a great way to help out!

And Gina, thank you so much for organizing this! In case you don’t hear it often enough, you are beyond awesome!

    • Donna on November 9, 2012 at 5:28 pm

That’s awesome! I just hope that I’m not outbidding you for the macaroons, haha, I’m determined to get those!

  30. Kerry @ Totes My Oats on November 9, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Thank you so much for doing this! I am from Long Island and there is so much devastation around me. I know everyone affected will truly appreciate it. Things like this make me love the blog world even more.

  31. Danica @ It's Progression on November 9, 2012 at 9:47 pm

Love that you’re hosting this Gina, and thank you to all of the bloggers contributing!! This is the best kind of way to “use” the blogging community for the advantage of others. Love it.

What an amazing way to show support to all the victims of Sandy…I can’t even begin to imagine how much work you put into the project. Kudos!!
