Patagonia Adventures

Hi friends! How has your day been?

We did something that we haven’t done in quite a while…

road

went roadtrippin’.

It’s funny because we used to roadtrip ALL the time when we lived in Valdosta –at least once a month- and since we’ve been in Tucson, we’ve kinda stayed put. It was fun to get out for a little adventure, which also happened to be Bella-friendly.

[She was SO happy!]

We hit up the Patagonia Fall Festival, which was about an hour and twenty minutes from Tucson.

The festival had about a football field’s worth of vendors set up, food booths, stages,

and alpacas.

alpacas

[They both asked me to adopt them, but sadly our HOA won’t allow it]

Since it was around lunchtime, we decided to grab some food. I was amazed by all of the options: Indian fry bread, gyros, tacos, roasted corn, chocolate fondue, ice cream treats, burritos, pizza, burgers, and even a vegetarian stand.

stand

I enjoyed some brown rice and vegetables, while the Pilot feasted on a green chile burger

lunch

Then later, while walking around, he got a roasted corn

while I had the kettle variety 😉

We walked around for a couple of hours –people-watching was at its finest- checked out the vendors, and then got on the road back to Tucson.

The goodies we found:

goodies

Jalapeno infused local olive oil, pumpkin chocolate chip bread, tortilla warmer, goat’s milk soap

We’re back at the casa now and I’m going to figure out dinner + this week’s meals. I haven’t been as great about meal planning as I usually am, so this week I’ll get the ball rolling again.

Have a great night and I’ll be back later with a family post!

xoxo

Something to talk about: When is the last time you took a roadtrip? Where’d you go?

Something to do: Schweaty October Workout! If you try it, please let me know what you think <3

The fall festival looks like it was a blast – especially with all those food options. Kettle corn is a favorite of mine – the sweet and salty combo makes me so happy!

We took a road trip yesterday to Norfolk, VA to visit Isaac’s family and break-fast for Yom Kippur. 🙂

I LOVE markets and have been missing them since I’m on end-of-semester study lockdown. :-/ Naturally this includes regular blog cruising breaks where I can live vicariously through other people’s market adventures. The last road trip we took, we got lost somewhere way down South of the South Island. We took the wrong road out of Queenstown and didn’t figure that out for three hours. Funnily enough, there are only TWO roads to choose from ….

Pumpkin chocolate chip bread. Holy YUM! You’re the devil 😉

I don’t think you two road trip as much because you live in civilization!!!

The boyfriend and I drove to Amherst, MA back in February on I’d say the coldest/windiest day of the year. Even with the weather it was PARADISE. Such an awesome sorta hippy college town with great coffee shops, yoga studios and a little African inspired scarf/jewlery store. STRONGLY recommend it! 🙂

I just took a mini road trip this weekend – from Orlando to Jacksonville and back to Orlando again…oh the joys of a long distance relationship – ha!

  8. Kristie on October 9, 2011 at 9:30 pm

My mom was totally a vendor at that festival!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, she totally has alpacas, but she wouldn’t have brought hers to the show. Anyway, my jaw just dropped when I realized you were in the same place as my mom. Small world!

Goat’s milk soap is the 100% best soap I’ve ever tried. I visited a goat farm in Maui and brought a bunch of soap home. I was so sad when I ran out of it!

Also, that’s a super cute picture of Bella. I also love day trips I can take the pupper with me to.

I’ve done the October work out three times this week and my butt is SORE! Thank you! I am trying to bring my husband along to do it tomorrow 🙂 So glad you posted it! Btw, do you suggest doing it on alternate days or is consecutive days okay? If alternate, what do you suggest for the days in between?

    • Fitnessista on October 10, 2011 at 12:22 pm

make sure you stretch! i’d do it every other day and alternate with steady state cardio or yoga/active recovery

      • Azka on October 11, 2011 at 10:11 am

        Thank you! 🙂

  24. Hillary on October 10, 2011 at 7:11 am

I haven’t been on a roadtrip in a REALLY long time, but my boyfriend and I have been tossing around the idea of hitting up Philly for a weekend (I only live about an hour and a half away). It’s so fun just to get out every once in a while!

  25. Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups on October 10, 2011 at 7:49 am

Sounds so fun! Our last road trip was to the beach for a relaxing weekend!

  26. Anna on October 10, 2011 at 8:08 am

Will you share your planned meals for the week please? Its something I’ve been struggling with since grad school started and I literally don’t have the time to go to the store every other day. Thanks, you’re the best!

  27. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 10, 2011 at 8:23 am

That looks like a great festival! Especially that pumpkin chocolate chip bread. 😀

We drove out to my grandparents’ house yesterday for our Thanksgiving dinner!

  28. Chelsa on October 10, 2011 at 10:00 am

Jalepeno infused oil sounds yum. I love taking fresh hot peppers from my dad’s garden and letting them infuse into oil. I love Bella’s tag too.

I don’t know if you have done a post on it before, but can you do a post on protein powder? I am a newbie and I think I want to start incorporating it into my smoothies/oatmeal etc. but I don’t know which kind and why I should incorporate it.
