King of all beasts

After teaching today, I was ready for a giant Oreganoโ€™s salad.

king of beatss

Not just a โ€œsomeone got heavy-handed with the lettuceโ€ salad.. a โ€œfeed a family of 4โ€ salad.

Except the family of 4 was my face.

enormous salad  beasts

Chicken, romaine, pine nuts, sundried tomatoes, kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, soaked raisins (my favorite part) and balsamic dressing

It was the kind of salad that you can eat for a half hour, but it doesnโ€™t look like you made a dent in it.

My fry destruction was a little more obviousโ€ฆ

sp fries

and I shared them with the wing man:

Since we were all there to celebrate Trevorโ€™s birthday, madre made one of the most legendary cakes Iโ€™ve ever seen.

Itโ€™s called an Earthquake Cake, and if youโ€™ve never heard of it โ€“I hadnโ€™t, until Kyle gave me the down low- hereโ€™s what it consists of:

coconut on the bottom

topped with chocolate chips

topped with pecans

topped with chocolate cake batter

topped with a mixture of butter, confectionerโ€™s sugar and cream cheese poured on top

Um, yeah.

Even though I was stuffed, I had to try a couple of bites- it was incredible.

After dinner, the family went to the fair, and I came home to stay with Livi since it was time for her to go to bed and Iโ€™m pretty exhausted from the day.

me and livi

Sheโ€™s a fun Saturday night date, even though she crashes super early ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Pilot said heโ€™d take lots of pics. Kyle said, โ€œIโ€™m not leaving the fair until I throw up from a ride.โ€

So there ya go.

the boys

(My mom has already texted me pics of the Pilot getting on a ride with my Uncle G and eating fried cheesecake. Maybe Kyleโ€™s wishes will come trueโ€ฆ)

Some friends and I were thinking of hitting up a Zumbathon tomorrow, but decided on hot yoga instead. It will be my first time in a YEAR!

Hope youโ€™re enjoying the weekend so far <3

Something to talk about: Do you like amusement parks/roller coasters? Any funny stories to share? I love the ride โ€œThe Zipper.โ€ Itโ€™s rickety and you flip around.. Iโ€™m always convinced the cage door is going to flip open at any second and pretty sure you can hear screws coming out of the ride while youโ€™re on it.

Iโ€™ll never forget the roller coaster at Wild Adventures in Valdosta. There are ENORMOUS alligators in the body of water underneath the roller coaster. So on top of any fear for the ride, thereโ€™s the additional worry of potentially being eaten by reptiles.

I feel like I only have been leaving fashion comments on your blog lately but I love your mint pants. I remember your fashion post with the pinterest inspiration with those pants and a similar top. I’m looking for mint and coral color pants but cant decide if a dyed denim would be better than a dyed khaki. Are yours khaki?

    • Fitnessista on April 22, 2012 at 1:46 am

thank you! they’re khaki and super light- h&m

Movie World in Brisbane, Australia. We did the ‘Superman Escape’ rollercoaster without really researching it. Afterward, my guy and his sister (fragile tummies) both threw up. While recovering I read the brochure and discovered it is one of the most intense rides in the world. It is the highest ranked ride in the theme park… of course. My first rollercoaster ride ever and I had to jump in the DEEP END. Haha. Scary shit.

I apologise. I should write s**t, shouldn’t I? Junking up your comments with my potty mouth….

I do love roller coasters! I love moving on a track, making progress rides. Rides that just spin and spin, i.e the Tilt-o-Whirl, no!

The cake looks amazing and yes, I’ve heard of it…and now, I want to make it! ๐Ÿ™‚

OMG, the zipper!!! It is especially scary when it’s part of the travelling carnival that gets taken down/put up every other week… Aaah!

  5. Robyn on April 22, 2012 at 4:55 am

I really want to make that cake it looks so good!!

Wow- it’s been AGES since I’ve been on a ride, but I do love them… or at least I did! I think my favourite was the scrambler. It involves three sets of three cars spinning around, so you don’t really know which way you’re going, but it’s good fun!

Love that one we have one that’s in a dome and they black it out and play super load music and there’s strobe lights, it’s been a few years but I think it’s called pysco dome, there’s always a big line!

I can’t stand roller coasters. I am such a wimp!! I took my kids on Grovers Wild ride at Busch Gardens and we were both near tears, ha ha.

I bet you’re so excited to get back into bikram! I’ve taken it twice and while I love it because it’s still yoga, the room is never actually ‘hot’, in fact I don’t even really sweat. Would it be considered rude to say something to the instructor about the temperature?

  9. Patti @ This Starts Tonight on April 22, 2012 at 10:05 am

Um…I am a huge roller coaster wimp, but I try to be a good sport about it…This summer my boyfriend’s getting platinum passes to some amusement park group so we can go to like every amusement park in Ohio. He’s super excited and I am mildly terrified. Here we go…

Cedar Point is the vacation of my dreams, the Millenium Force is a smooth and fast! ride. We went there growing up and I hope to take my family there one day.

Oregano’s is a favorite of mine and my boyfriend’s and I ALWAYS order the Oregano’s favorite- dressing on the side. To me the olives and roasted reds totally make it.

Still so glad to see the wing man took off the mustache. That thing aged him like 10 years! Haha!

The Zipper is my fave too! And I love rollercoasters! I used to be able to handle anything and everything, but the older I get the more I’m not really into the spinny rides.

My pen pal told me about earthquake cake and I have been dying to try it ever since !!!! (:

The last time I got on a fair ride was probably 5 years ago. When i was younger I would love to go on all the scary rides like the zipper and gravitron, but now I stay far far away. The older I get, the more scarty cat I’ve become.
One year in middle school, I went to the fair with friends and after getting off the gravitron I acted like I had to go use the bathroom and went to throw up behind the bumper cars.

  23. Nicole on April 23, 2012 at 9:31 am

I used to love the zipper until someone in another car threw up on me while I was riding it! I kept yelling at the attendant to let us off every time we’d ride pass where he was standing, but I guess he didn’t hear us because the ride kept going!! I couldn’t get home to shower fast enough.

    • Fitnessista on April 23, 2012 at 11:07 am

      oh nooooooooo

  24. Jen on April 23, 2012 at 7:05 pm

I love the Zipper too, but one year my fiance and I went on it at a fair and all of this mud from the shoes of the people above us got kicked off into our mouths when we were screaming! Ewwwwww…. I don’t know if I’ll ever get the nerve to go on it again.
