Suit up
Ahhhh, so good to be back home with my favorite people and fur child.
Such a lady.
Work was good today- no Zumba, but I assisted DJ Dance Cardio, taught a cardio/strength class, got a new suit for pool classes (Baywatch outfit no more!)
and it was my first time teaching drums of death.
I taught new-to-me classes yesterday and today, and even though it freaks me out, I think it’s been good to step out of my comfort zone. It’s funny because today my friends were like “you’re so calm- you’re not even acting nervous!” but I was having an internal panic attack. Even though I was definitely nervous, since having Livi, I’m not as afraid of doing little things anymore. It’s given me a new bit of confidence and while I still have a hard time with some classes –there are some I’ll never be great at, and that’s ok- I feel more willing to put myself out there. Usually the hardest part is getting the first class over with, and after that you know what to expect and do better next time.
So I taught the drum class and I think it went pretty well! I used more Latin-style and Zumba music (like Pitbull and Shakira), which I could get into because I knew the songs, and did the drum thang. After coming home, I was messing around in the kitchen, showing the Pilot my combo and Livi was cracking up the entire time. We filmed it with the Flip- she thought my goofiness was hilarious.
At work, I also ate a lot of frosting today. Costco cake is very nice.
Dinner is going to be slow cooker shrimp curry:
Very similar to this recipe, but I used a different mix of veggies (bell pepper, mushrooms, baby corn, broccoli and bell pepper), lots of garlic
and just stirred in the curry paste, fish sauce, shrimp and coconut milk.
Hope you’re all enjoying your night! <3
See ya in the morning with a workout post.
xoxo

Head’s up: Giveaway on the Family page!
Something to talk about: The last time you did something you were nervous/anxious about. How did it go? What are your tricks to overcome nerves or anxiety?
Something to read:
–How to use the rowing machine
🙂 You and Bella are too cute!
bella is the cute one 😉
Bella is such a sweetie 🙂
the drumming class does does look like fun though… similar to “pound” which I tried out recently at Crunch
it’s actually a tough workout! you use your core a ton and everyone was drenched in sweat by the end
My trick to overcome anxiety is the whole “Fake it til you Make it” attitude. One night I was reading my kids a childrens book and it said “Being brave means doing something even if you’re scared.” So basically I take a deep breath and just do it!! 😉
That drumming class looks intense but fun!
Am I allowed to laugh a little at the drum class? Just a little.
you are allowed to laugh all you want. the first time i saw it, i was like “are they joking? is this for real?”
Um, yeah, that is my current thought. Feel free to tape yours so we can see how it is really done 🙂
The drumming class looks like so much fun! Basic rhythm patterns that I use in my music classes but in a exercise setting 🙂
That shrimp curry looks so good, I like the coconut milk addition, it looks so creamy! The drumming class looks like a great workout to me, I have never heard of one before!
“Costco cake is very nice” haha I love it! I could use some frosting right about now.
I have never heard of the drums class! It looks like it could be a fun workout with a good group of girlfriends!
Costco makes surprisingly good cake! And so affordable. We got it for my daughter’s half birthday (6 months) and we had leftovers for days, the frosting is incredible 🙂
Glad the drum class went well! Sounds like a unique workout…I’d love to try something like that!
I’m pretty sure everyone will agree with me when I say that you should absolutely post that video! 🙂
I definitely agree!
i second that!
I’m also much more confident since having my daughter. If I can survive 30 hours of labor and bring such an amazing person in to the world I figure I can do anything haha. “this isn’t nearly as bad as labor” its also a great motivator during a difficult without Hahaha
*workout
The drum class looks like fun!!! I am waking (ok lets be honest, dragging myself out of bed) up at 530 tomorrow to take a 6 am spin class. I think I am crazy!
Awww….Miss Bella warms my heart <3
The drum class looks fun, but how do you not poke your eyes out with the sticks…I totally would!
Ugh, I have THE WORST anxiety. I get super nervous at work all the time. Right now my workload is out of control. Unfortunately I have to take ativan sometimes to get myself calmed down.
I felt the exact same way after having my little one, who is now almost 21 months old! ( boy time sure flies when they’re little!) I was always so afraid to play sand volleyball, even though my husband has played for years and years and it always looked like so much fun! I had never played any sports and just knew that not only would I be terrible, but would ruin the game for my team. After I had my baby, I had a total epiphany about it…who the hell cares?! I want my daughter to see me having fun while getting exercise and to know that it’s ok not to be the best at everything, but it is important to at least try. So I did! And yes,at first I wasn’t that great at it, but nobody laughed, in fact, everyone cheered me on and helped me get better. I play now on a team with my husband, have quality time with him, get exercise, have tons of fun, ADR new friends, and oh yeah, I got better too! 🙂 ! I also started yoga recently too, another thing I used to be afraid of doing. Hurray for Mommy confidence!
The stir fry with the coconut milk, mmmm good!
And good for you on teaching classes a little out of your comfort zone…and being cool as a cucumber 🙂
hey there! your on hello cotton! I can’t believe it! i put in a search word and there you were! it was surprising to me because I have been coming to your blog for around a year now but i could never follow you but now I can. yay! I hope you can come check me out if you have time (;
I would lOve to do that drum class!!!
Costco frosting must have crack in it. We always get it at work for retirements/baby showers/etc. and I skip the cake and just go for the frosting. Gross, but in the best way possible!
Congrats for rocking it! I’m so glad Livi loved the little show you put on, that sounds like such a special moment.
Your fur child is a-dog-able!!! And that shrimp curry looks like something I’ll be making soon… 😉 Cheers~
The shrimp curry looks delicious! Did you cook the shrimp first and then toss them in the slow cooker? Also, is that frozen blend of stir fry veggies from TJ’s? Thank you!
