DIY: refreshing rose facial spray
There are so many beautiful and extremely different personalities in our work locker room. We have the dancers, the spinners, the hardcore ass-kickers (that’s their official title), the yogis and more. Some flow from one type to the next–like the same airy fairy yoga instructor can kill you in bootcamp class. It’s amazing. I learn so much from my colleagues, not only about health and fitness, but fun, random tips and tricks for life.
Like this rose facial spray:
One of the girls at work made it for me after asking me if I’d like a “spritz” and I fell in love with the lushly-scented elixir. It energized me, brightened and tightened my skin (which was looking pretty sad and sallow after a rough teething night up with Liv) and made me feel like I just had a spa treatment. Since then, I’ve been using the spray constantly, to the point where it was pretty much gone.
Time to make my own and a bottle for the friend who gave some to me 🙂
Homemade Rose Facial Spray
As we all know, I’m not very DIY handy. I’m trying to get better by doing little things, especially when I can salvage something instead of replacing it. But pour ingredients into a bottle? No prob with that.
Here’s the life-changing combo of ingredients:
Rose water (benefits are here)
Glycerin (check out the benefits here)
Sweet almond oil
Directions:
Fill your bottle 3/4 bottle with rose water. Fill the remaining 1/4 of the bottle with an equal mix of the glycerin and sweet almond oil.
The almond oil provides scent and moisturizing properties, but you can also use lavender oil. Remember, that a little goes a long way!
[a little disclaimer: this is just something that my friend made for me that I wanted to share. Be smart about using new ingredients on your skin, and if you’re ever doubtful, check with a doc.]
If possible, save your beauty spray bottles so that you can reuse — you can also pick up spray bottles at Target or beauty supply stores.
Do you have any favorite homemade beauty products? I love using coconut oil for a mix of beauty treatments, but am planning to experiment with another DIY in the next couple of weeks. I really love this scrub that Meg makes, too.
Happy spritzing! Let me know if you try it.
xoxo

I LOVE that almond oil – I use it to make the most amazing body scrub: 1 cup dry, ground coffee + 1 cup sugar + 1/4 cup almond oil. IT IS LIFE CHANGING!!!
I’m going to be on the lookout for that rosewater – I want to spray my sheets with it! 🙂
Sounds refreshing. Where did you buy the rosewater?
amazon 🙂
Where did you get all your ingredients? Can’t wait to try!
amazon for everything
I have everything on hand to make this – I’ve been looking for a natural quick refresher for post-workout!
Sounds amazing!
This is a great idea! I bought a handmade lavender body spray from a lavender farm outside of Austin that was made with similar ingredients. It smelled so good! I bet this is very soothing and refreshing for the skin.
I could def use something like this because sometimes I feel like I need a refreshing, especially after the gym. My face usually looks like it too haha
I make a rosewater toner with all these ingredients and witch hazel. So soothing and fragrant.
You can find rosewater for MUCH cheaper at Middle Eastern or Indian grocery stores!
Your Rosewater is from heritage store- (in the edgar cayce headquarters) right down the street from me, allll the way on the east coast! Crazy! Small world!
that’s awesome!!
Thanks for the awesome recipe. I am a working mom with heaps and lots on my plate, so obviously no time to take care of myself. My skin isn’t in a good shape at all. Looks like the heavens inspired you to post the rose facial spray for 😉 Thanks so much again!
I try and make most of my beauty products because its nice to know exactly whats inside of everything I put on my skin. This spray sounds magnificent and I will defiantly be giving it a try. I also am a huge coconut oil fan and love how you can just use that and not have to add anything and get a body lotion and hair treatment and face cream…obsessed! Hope you have a great week. love + shine Courtstar
Love your beauty tips!
Love love love!! I changed my skincare routine to simple, homemade or all natural products and its amazing!! I have a honey scrub and face wash that I use, I use jojoba oil and coconut oil for moisturizers, I can’t wait to add this to the list! Sounds like it will be lovely during the summer too 🙂
I definitely want to try this- and keep it at my desk while working for a little “pick me up” rather than having coffee!
Thanks to you, and your friend, for such a simple suggestion 🙂
This looks lovely! Like a spa at home 🙂 You should sell them!
This looks delicious! It would be perfect to spray on inbetween classes to freshen up. I usually look particularly haggard after a spin class. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
I love DIY beauty products and have been wanting to make a rosewater spray! I’m so tired of spending tons of money on skincare sprays from Whole Foods and Sephora! I knew I wanted to have vegetable glycerin in it but I never thought about adding an oil….which is so obvious I’m embarrassed that it never occurred to me! Can’t wait to make this!
***For those of you looking for spray bottles, Whole Foods carries assorted bottles, usually in their beauty/skincare section. They have all different sizes and both glass and plastic varieties!***
Amazing idea! I love to DIY stuff so I’ll put this on my list!
I made some of this tonight! So much more refreshing (and affordable) than the Mario Badescu facial spray I buy.
Hi girls
I just bought this rose oil, it’s amazing. My skin is phenomenal. It’s the purest form of roses.
I’ll send you the website. Even the lavender oil is amazing. Check it out.

Ohhh how cool! I love the idea of a spray spritzer- I’d like one for in between sweaty group fitness classes!
