Friday Faves
Hi friends! Happy Friday. I hope youโve had a wonderful week. Thank you so much to those of you who left heartfelt comments on my last post. Your kind words boosted my spirits, and many of them brought me to tears. It was sad to hear that some of you have experienced something similar and know the anxiety and stress Iโve been feeling, but at the same time, your stories helped me feel less alone. Thank you for being so amazing.
So, whatโs going on this weekend? Any fun plans? Any Motherโs Day activities? Iโm *supposed* to run a 5k tomorrow (will I wake up with my alarm and actually do it? Stay tuned) and am looking forward to sleeping in on Sunday and spending time with our little nuggets.
(Liv and I had a brunch date the other day when she was out of school for parent-teacher conferences. It was such a fun treat to get to take her on a day date to the park and grab breakfast at Birdieโs afterwards.)
I went to a super cute Muffins with Mom event at Livโs school, and then went to celebrate with P at her preschool. Their little handmade gifts were the sweetest ever. Apparently I need to make bread and bagels more often for Liv.
P was so proud to tell me that she painted the animals on the flower pot by dipping her fingers in the paint. I just canโt handle it.
If youโre still shopping, there are some Motherโs Day Gift Ideas in this post.
Now, itโs time for the usual Friday Faves party. Here are some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout them out in the comments below if youโd like to join in the fun.
Fashion + Beauty:
Letโs talk about facial rollers. I know that Lauryn from Skinny Confidential is a huge fan, and Iโve definitely Iโve had my eye on this one. Have you tried them? Do you think they work? Iโm all about anything that will help with the fact that I wake up a liiiiittle groggy.
It arrived in one of my recent Stitch Fix boxes, and I was kind of unsure about it at first. The floral print is a bit more bold than something Iโd usually wear, but in the end, the fit and fabric sold me. I LOVE rompers (itโs a whole outfit in one fell swoop) and this one isnโt too short.
The fabric is extremely light and luxe, which makes it perfect for spring and summer nights. Iโve worn it out to dinner and to a girlsโ night, and both times I got a surprising amount of compliments on it. Itโs really flattering and comfortable.
(Romper is here! You can also find it here in black, and on Amazon in a gorgeous navy color. It runs true to size.)
Food + recipes:
Lots of Trader Joeโs staple ideas here! Quite a few of my faves on this list, as well as things I want to try.
If youโre looking for a Motherโs Day brunch idea, definitely try this egg casserole. Itโs the best ever. It pairs perfectly with these cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit. ๐

Podcast:
Iโm so excited that so many of you said, โYAYโ to a potential podcast. Iโm going to attempt to record my first episode this weekend, and if it isnโt terrible, Iโll have it up for ya soon. But, I need a name! If you have any suggestions, please send them my way. If I end up picking yours, Iโll hook you up with a fitness goodie pack + an unlimited Fit Guide subscription.
Happy Friday, friends!
xo

I emailed this to you as well since I was shy to leave it on your FB thread but I think you should call your podcast something like Fit Freedom. As a longtime reader I def feel like I come here and get a ton of different suggestions on how to be fit (mind and body) and you never want to push anyone to do anything they dont love. I also feel like i’ve watched you grow into someone who feels free to try lots of different things rather than stick to to the latest fitness trend!
Hi Gina! I LOVE the idea of a podcast! I’m a longtime blog reader and think you provide information in such an easy to understand way that I (and so many others) really appreciate. Would love to listen to a podcast! Some name ideas – sorry there are so many, super fun procrastinating activity for a Friday morning ๐

That romper looks great on you!
I use a derma-roller with micro-needles. It sounds scary, but really it’s not. It does the most amazing job at exfoliating my skin. I do it while watching tv at night with a glass of wine.

What about:
Hi Friends!
Conversations with Gina/The Fitnessista
How on earth did I miss an initial mention about a podcast? But…so exciting! I don’t care what you call it, I will listen!
I may be in the minority on this one, but you could always just call it The Fitnessista for consistency, and also so you don’t box yourself into something specific like just fitness, or something. Though some of the suggestions above are pretty great. <3
thank you so much! yes, it’s in the works! ๐

Facial rollers – yes, yes, yes! I love mine and use it daily. I keep it in the freezer and it is the most refreshing thing ever. Seriously, it’s foot massage good, only in a different way! I definitely feel like it improves the circulation in my face and neck. Bonuses – it feels great on sore throats, sinus pressure, tired eyes (very gently), and if you have any sort of toothache. Super lovely to use as a stress reliever. Treat yourself with all haste! ๐
ok you’ve convinced me ๐
Gina, I just HAVE to say that romper is one of the most divine outfits Iโve seen on you! That pic with the crossbody bag is supermodel! X
you are a sweet angel ๐ thank you!!

Happy Mothers Day to you and all the other lovely readers who are apart of this blog.
thank you so much, sweet friend. i can definitely do a tutorial sometime soon!
hope you had a wonderful weekend <3
Would also love to know more about dermarolling but unsure where to start. I have some acne scars/ indentations on my left cheek from cystic acne when I was pregnant with my son.
I would definitely check out your podcast. So many that I have listened too I just can’t get behind, they all sound the same.
Advice I would have for the podcast…not that you asked, but here it goes anyways:
– keep your podcasts short and to the point (like 25-30 minutes) much longer than that and I feel Iike the host is just going over the same stuff again in a different way
– vary your topics, family, fitness, healthy eating, fun (I think we all read your blog for all those things)
– and be yourself, SO MANY women’s podcasts I have tuned into they all sound exactly the same. Same lingo, same tone of voice (woman podcaster), same questions, same responses. I’m still looking for that different, challenging, entertaining podcast that I just can’t get enough of…
And I think you are totally capable of that, so I can’t wait to hear what you come up with.
thank you x 10000000 for sending all of these thoughts and tips. i really appreciate your advice and will take all of this to heart!
