Overzealous

Hi friends! How are ya? Hope youโ€™ve had a lovely day <3

Soups on over here:

soup

Itโ€™s chipotle black bean soup from the Canyon Ranch Nourish cookbook, except I didnโ€™t follow the recipe.. and probably should have.

soup (2)

Letโ€™s just say that someone got a little overzealous with the chipotle chiles (<โ€”I LOVE this ingredient).

me and bell

It was Bella ๐Ÿ˜‰

Instead of 1/2 t, 2 whole chilesโ€ฆ and the seedsโ€ฆ were added. Itโ€™s a little spicy, even for me, so I may be making the Pilot an omelet instead. Sorry, Pilot :/

Lesson of the day: follow instructions.

Work today was pretty bueno. Iโ€™ve been teaching a lot of stretch classes since Iโ€™m temporarily limited in my teaching abilities, which are lovely and super boring at the same time. I promised myself Iโ€™d make a new stretch playlist for tomorrow, because Iโ€™ve been using the same one for the past couple of months, and Iโ€™m sick of all of the songs on there. Hereโ€™s the playlist Iโ€™ve been using.

Came home for lunch on the patio:

beast

Salad beast with spinach, heated up organic turkey, goat cheese, grape tomatoes and *this dressing* + a Zevia (<โ€”so fizzy and good!)

Snack packed up to-go:

protein pudding

[My piggy watering can finally came! Itโ€™s on the patio, not on display. Haha]

-almond milk

-Sun Warrior

-Chia seeds

-almond butter

-cinnamon

Time to see if this soup is going to be Pilot-friendly or not. If not, more for me? Muahaha.

See ya in the morning!

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: Spicy: yes or no? For me, if it burns my face off, Iโ€™m a fan. Also, any stretch song recommendations? My playlist needs a major refresher. Iโ€™ll definitely post the new one ๐Ÿ™‚

Spicy? Definitely, yes! Butโ€ฆ.I know what you mean when it comes to adding too much. I made vegetarian chili once and the jalepeno peppers made it almost too spicy to eat. Regardless, the soup looks great!

As I get older, I can tolerate a little more spice. I like to joke about my bland, Irish palate โ€“ potatoes and beer are all I can handle! Enjoy your soup! Mo

I would love if you could please post some sample stretches that you would recommend. Iโ€™m currently 16 weeks pregnant and have been having a bit of right hip and knee pain. I know itโ€™s just related to not being as active and not stretching, but Iโ€™m not really sure what I *should* and *should not* be doing. Thanks so much!

I am a spice BABY!!!! Canโ€™t DO IT CAPTAIN!!!! Iโ€™ts really bad! I never add any hot spices to my foods because I canโ€™t take the heat (so get out the kitchenโ€ฆhahaha). I always ask for mild!

Here are some slow jams I enjoy. Some of them arenโ€™t the most uplifting, but thought I would offer anyway.
โ€œBad Dayโ€ Despicable Me (please donโ€™t make funโ€ฆitโ€™s AWESOME to secretly jam to in the gym. Pharrell is a music GENIUS! And when some one is hogging the machines I mentally say FREEZE RAY)!
    โ€œLosing My Wayโ€ Justin Timberlake
    โ€œLove Divineโ€ Seal
    โ€œSomebody That I Used to Knowโ€ Gotye
    โ€œHell On Heelsโ€ Pistol Annies

    Have a great day xoxo

Iโ€™m not a huge fan of spicy foodsโ€ฆ I donโ€™t like when theyโ€™re so spicy that I canโ€™t taste my food. I do like a lot of flavor and a little spice doesnโ€™t bother me though. That soup sounds yummy!

I love me some spicy food! I joke that I generally sweat hot sauce because of the sheer amount of it that I put on food. I think Frankโ€™s Red Hot stays in business because of me!

Iโ€™ve been listening to the discographies of โ€œShe and Himโ€ (loooove Zooey Deschanel) and Owl City for my relaxing stretch music. So chill!

Anything by Imogen Heap sounds like it would be great for stretch, and I personally love Clare Maguire for some more chilled out work out music โ€“ Ainโ€™t Nobody (Breakage Remix) is definitely worth checking out and This Is Not The End. Crack The Shutters and Set The Fire To The Third Bar (Snow Patrol) and Free Fallinโ€™ (John Mayer version) are also some of my faves.

Oh, and I am a total spice whimp โ€“ I made a veggie chilli at the weekend and halved the amount of chilli powder and added extra tomatoes, even then it was too spicy for me!

Good Life โ€“ One Republic .. is what I have right now for stretch/cooldown.

I love spicy stuff..the spicier the betterโ€ฆit also helps increase metabolism โ€” win!

Spicy all the way! Your snack looks so goodโ€“ did you let it sit so it was more like pudding, or did you eat it right away, and it had more of a cereal feel to it? Thanks!

I say the spicier the better! I made a big crock pot of black beans last night with jalapenos. They were amazing, but then I dealt with crazy pregnancy heartburn. Spicy is worth it! I keep saying as soon as I get to 37 weeks that Iโ€™m going to start eating hot peppers all the time to get labor moving!

Massive Attack has some good songs for stretching I think. Spicy is the way to go; Iโ€™m Korean, so I grew up on kimchi and other sweat-producing foods, lol.

I like making quinoa patties like these buffalo bleu cheese quinoa cakes (http://cookinfanatic.com/2011/08/buffalo-bleu-cheese-quinoa-cakes/) or a fresh quinoa salad like this Asian Quinoa Salad w/ Roasted Green Beans & Chickpeas (http://cookinfanatic.com/2011/07/asian-quinoa-salad-w-roasted-green-beans-and-chickpeas/) โ€” love quinoa!

LOVE spicy! Anytime we go for Thai I get a 7/8 on a 1 scale. YUM!

Check out Garth Stevenson for playlist potential. He was featured in Yoga at Home a month or so ago and his album โ€œFlyingโ€ is beautiful.

If you have leftover soup, try it again over the next day or two. Iโ€™ve found that sometimes the heat from over-chipotle-ing (a frequent food crime in our house) stuff abates over time. I love spicy stuff, especially the smoky chipotle heat. We are planning a move out of the country for work reasons to a place hot peppers are hard to find and I may end up bringing a whole suitcase of chipotles if I get my wayโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m seasonal about my love for spicinessโ€ฆ I LOVE it in the winter, not so crazy about it when itโ€™s warmer out!
