A beast of a flavor disaster

Hey! Hope your day is going well! Mine has been a little slow moving… guess I still have some remnant zombie going on 😉

I did have a lovely sludge for bfast:

008

It had frozen nanner, hemp milk, Vega smoothie infusion, vanilla brown rice protein and spinach. Delicioso.

Then the puppers and I went on a leisurely walk around the neighborhood. Being on vacation is wonderful but there’s something about getting back into routine that feels very good.

I picked up Megan at the car place –her car is being serviced- and then came home to make some spin and Zumba CDs for tonight.

Here’s today’s spin playlist:

I’ll post the Zumba one tonight 😀

For lonchi, I had a lovely salad beast:

010

Salad greens, grape tomatoes (which I THOUGHT were organic because they were mixed in with the organic tomatoes..when I got home I saw that they weren’t and could taste the chemicals), 1/2 avocado, bell pepper, dulse, homemade dressing-paste, and raw flax crackers.

Here’s what the dressing paste looked like:

009

1 tbs chickpea miso, 1 tbs raw TJs almond butter (SO good!!), splash of apple cider vinegar and a splash of sesame oil.

These are the raw flax cracked I crumbled on top (got them in T-town). They’re expensive, and delicious (isn’t that how it seems to work?)

011

I grabbed two so I could snap a pic for you guys…

012

And stuffed said crackers into my face 😉

My meal was a random hodge podge of flavors that I probably won’t replicate. Asian-inspired salad and dressing-paste with Mexican crackers isn’t the best combo in the world. I knew that already, but really wanted some crackers on there 😀

Well I’m off to practice my Zumba dances for tonight, teach spin and Zumba, then back to the gym for a training appointment.

Have a great afternoon!

G

Today’s tip: If you have difficulties getting in enough water during the day, try flavoring it with a little lemon juice and cucumber slices. Super refreshing!

Hey! I love seeing your spin playlists, is there anyway you could say what move to do with each song (climb, jump, ect)? I'm in love with spin and I'd like to utilize the spin studio for my own "personl" class one of these days. I think it'd be fun!

I totally agree about it feeling good to be back into a routine after vacation. Is there such a thing as vacation being completely relaxing instead of go-go-go? I think that's really hard to do when you're trying to see a lot of family & friends, like you guys were in AZ.

My boyf & I are going to Europe at the end of the month, and I'm going to do my best to just relax and enjoy it instead of planning it all out!

Ahh sorry about the tomatoes 🙁

Those flax crackers look so amazing.

I sometimes enjoy the routine more than vacation. I always feel like I'm always on the move on vacation since we want to see as much as possible in such a short time!

Good tip for the water…I drink plenty but I'm getting a little burned out so I think I might try one of your ideas 😉

Why is it that most healthy delicious foods are so expensive?? It can be so frustrating shopping on a budget with this economy!

Dang I need to just drive up to Valdosta and take one of your classes…they always sounds like so much fun! I would even like it with no AC at the base gym (I like to workout in the heat)…I guess I am a true Floridian!

I always try to mix up my fave sauces like that and often have a bad result. But raw TJs almond butter goes with everything!

  15. MarathonVal on August 12, 2009 at 4:21 pm

That's so interesting you can taste the chemicals!! I've never noticed, even though I always TRY to buy organic even though many haters tell me that it's a waste of my money….

Also, I am giving away a Spi-belt (running belt with pouch) giveaway on my new blog (I recently moved from blogspot to http://www.ChicagoMarathonVal.com) if you are interested! 🙂

I love water with lemon and cucumber, so refreshing!
Those crackers look really good, and I bet they would be good dipped in Abu!

  19. naturallyfrugal on August 12, 2009 at 6:22 pm

Looks like a fun playlist! Those crackers look yummy, I'll have to keep my eye out for some since I'm in desperate need of snacks!

  20. dirtyduck on August 12, 2009 at 6:33 pm

im glad you posted the play list the way that you did. when you wrote them out the other times my hands and eyes would ache in sympathy pains. glad you had fun, i always try to plan something fun AFTER a vaca, something simple like go to the lake with my duck or go to a new restaurant with the husband ? (lol the duck is listed first, thats horrible) then coming home is easier:)

Wow, I'm so impressed that you could taste the difference between organic and conventional tomatoes! I don't think I'm quite there yet, although maybe if I did a side by side taste test I'd know.

If only Asian and Mexican flavors were more marriageable…life would be perfect.

  23. foodnfit on August 12, 2009 at 8:38 pm

    Great playlist!
Water w/ lemon is a great thing–sometimes you need a little flavor!

  24. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on August 12, 2009 at 8:48 pm

Thank you for posting a pic of those crackers; I had asked about those a couple posts ago when you showed them on one of your plates. They look soo good. I just got Sarma's book and she has so many raw crackery type recipes, but I don't have a dehydrator…yet. So in the meantime, those look yum! Or Mary's Crackers. I am not hugely into crackers, but when I am, it's nice to have a go-to 🙂

  25. Amanda on August 12, 2009 at 9:00 pm

Ah I had cucumber water at a spa once and LOVED it. Thanks for reminding me!

Also, made the BEST cobb salad today that I think you'd like! It had corn, sauteed peppers and onions, morningstar "bacon" (you could use your eggplant), shrimpies, avocado, and goat cheese with toasted pita chips on top. SOOO GOOD!

Alsooo don't know if you've heard the newest Miley Cyrus song "Party in the U.S.A", but I'm hooked

  26. Fitnessista on August 12, 2009 at 9:08 pm

averie- i did that for you 😀

amanda- shrimp, goat cheese AND eggplant bacon?! minus the corn, i think you just described my dream salad. i'll totally have to try it!
