Come here, McDreamy
Hi guys! How’d your morning going??
I was robbed of blood.
Had to get some blood work done at the doc’s this morning.
As you guys know, I’m the hugest needle-phobe to walk the planet and the only guys I would truly be comfortable taking my blood would be Dr. McDreamy or Edward Cullen. But since I already got a shot this week at the dentist and had so many of you virtually holding my hand via Twitter, I put on my brave face! 😀 I didn’t cry or faint. *Borat voice: Great success!
The girl who took my blood was actually pretty awesome- we talked about shoes the whole time 😉
I couldn’t eat this Larabar fast enough:
When I got back to the casa, I had one thing on my mind:
Whole Grain Crepes (recipe will be up TOMORROW! I want to take step-by-step pictures which means, tragedy, I’ll have to make them again)
with bananas, mesquite, cinnamon and almond butter sauce
No words.
To rewind to dinner last night, I had a quick and easy feast.
3 egg white-stada with raw goat cheddar, spinach and dijon mustard:
Salad beast with greens, onion, Garlic Gold, Garlic Gold Meyer Lemon vinaigrette (amazing), grape tomatoes and cucumber:
100% organic goodness.
I may have had a slice of millet bread with Ahlaska chocolate sauce on it before going to bed 😉
Fun news: I signed up for the SCW Fitness MANIA convention in July in Hotlanta. Any Atlanta bloggies going?? I’m so excited for the classes- Zumba Cardio Party, Zumba toning, Flirty Girl, Les Mills, Pilates, Yoga, step, spinning, nutrition seminars and an expo… So stoked 😀
Well I’m off to work and then making macaroons 🙂
See ya later today!
xoxo,
Gina
Today’s tip: If you’re free of injuries and already have a solid workout schedule, add some plyometric cardio blasts to today’s workout- it’s a great way to get your heart rate up and get a more effective sesh. Plyo movements occur when a muscle is loaded and then contracted in a rapid sequence and helps increase power, agility and strength. For some of my favorite moves, check out this Shape article.
I can’t wait for the crepe recipe! I just had my first crepe 6 months ago, so I’m not far behind you. The first way I ever had them was stuffed with ice cream and frozen, then drizzled with berries. You must stuff yours with some coconut ice cream and try! Delish!
omg.. that sounds amazing 🙂
that sounds like an incredibly fun convention! i can’t wait to read the recap and see the pictures!
Edward Cullen….. drool 🙂
Chickpea flour crepes are fantastic filled with grilled veg and goat cheese, one of my favorites. Thanks for the link to the plyo exercises I’ve been wanting to add some to my workout since you did insanity.
my first crepes were in greece, and they were filled with broccoli, chicken, and cheese. my second crepes were banana and nuttella. OMG
bummer to have to Make Crepes Again!! it’s so nice of you to go through it for US, tho… 😉
can’t wait for the recipe… I LOVE crepes. I’ve actually never tried, I’m scared, do you use a regular pan…?
it’s a sacrifice i’m willing to make 😉
yep a regular ol skillet
That sounds like a really fun convention!
P.S. – That plate with your delicious egg-white stada is adorable!! Where did you find such a hottie?? 😉
haha thank you. world market- they have amazing plates
I guess so! Super cute 🙂
Those crepes are making me hungry. That conventions sounds amazing. I would be super excited too!
YOU WILL LOVE SCW! Make sure to check out the new BOSU’s and the awesome BOSU explode workouts 🙂 enjoy!
When I was in Paris this past weekend, I saw crepes everywhere! I was so upset that I wasn’t able to have any since I have a gluten intolerance! My next goal is to make a GF crepe!
I can’t waitfor that recipe! Looks mouthwatering:)
Oh my goodness, I am so excited to see your crepe recipe! Crepes are one of my favorite foods, but I rarely make them because I’m too lazy to make something that takes so long and is so bad for me. I know your version will be perfection 🙂
Way to go on the bloodwork! I haven’t had to have blood taken since I started going to the doctor’s alone, but I dread the day I’ll have to face the needle without my daddy there to hold my hand. Hope you have a great day!
Those crepes are beautiful!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one who still says things in a Borat voice, four years after the movie came out 🙂
the funny thing is that my borat impression is HORRIBLE- the pilot makes fun of me every time.. for four years… haha
Um- I’m extremely excited for that whole grain crepe recipe! want.. now?
I have been meaning to make crepes forever! Can’t wait for the recipe. I live like 3 miles from the hotel that hosts that convention…if you need any recommendations on good eats, let me know 🙂
It looks like a good one!!
Coconut cream pie Larabars are BY FAR my FAVORITE!!! To me, they taste like eating a rich coconut donut from DD’s 🙂
Can’t wait for the whole grain crepe recipe!! Sounds like the PERFECT Sunday brunch 🙂
Have a great day!!!!!!
-Lauren
And thanks for the plyo suggestion!!!! I whipped out my long lost p90x plyo DVD….KILLER 🙂
I love crepes. I love all kinds–sweet and savory–but nothing beats a crepe with Nutella. Nothing.
ME <– crazy excited for a step by step crepe-athon. Is it tomorrow yet?
Giving blood is the worst. Fortunately (or, unfortunately) I’ve gotten REALLY used to it. I have to get labs done at least every few months for my medical issues, bleh :/
Can’t wait for the crepes recipe! I love crepes because you can use sweet OR savory fillings 🙂
Ahhhh, hate getting blood done!! it’s even worse as i have the LEAST veiny arms ever so it takes about 10 years to even get the teeniest bit of blood out! Eugh, so horrid! Those crepes on the other hand, look amazing! can’t wait for the recipe! x
I won’t be going to the convention Gina.. But I live in Atlanta and I have
to reccomend you go to R. Thomas while your here- it’s
a down home organic mostly vegetarian restaurant… Seriously, the food is A-mazing!! Ask
any local and they’ll reccomend it.
hi gina, sorry this doesn’t have to do w/ your post today which is fun as usual. i told a friend of mine recently that i tried yogadownload since you mentioned it (i love it) & my friend said – you know bloggers get paid for everything they mention? i’m probably the most naive person on this topic & i don’t really follow many blogs – but it got me wondering. since i’ve been reading fitnessista for a while i trust your recommendations and it wouldn’t really change my opinion of your posts – but do you get paid for what you recommend? i know you have your store & it makes sense that you get paid a percentage of the sales – but does it extend to something like yogadownload? or larabars? or tjmax?? like i said – it wouldn’t change my opinion of the blog or you of course – in fact – i hope you get compensated plenty for all the time you spend on this (you update more often than almost any blog i’ve seen, w/ more substantive information & pics – god! you updated even when you were on vacation!). just wondering, thanks.
hey kim,
if i ever get paid for anything, or receive anything for free, you guys are the first to know. it doesn’t affect what i say about the product anyway- i’ve gotten some free stuff for the blog before and was happy to say that it sucked (for example, the second shiva rea dvd) and would NEVER take anything to review on the blog that i wouldn’t purchase with my own money and use on a regular basis. i wrote a little about it in this post: http://fitnessista.com/2010/03/blog-mercial/
that all being said, my classes from yogadownload are free, because they wanted to thank me for promoting their website. i used the website for over a year (and paid for all of the longer podcasts with my own money) and then they realized i was helping to spread the word and gave me a subscription as a thank-you.
so in essence, your friend isn’t totally right. yes, some bloggers sell out and get paid to promote products they disagree with. i would never do that you guys- i respect and appreciate you too much.
xoxo
gina
thanks gina! that totally makes sense – i knew i could ask you & get a straight answer!
Girl, I’m SO excited for your crepe recipe!
I cannot waitttt for this crepe recipe!
So I went to get a green juice after my filling today and the place was selling raw macaroons that looked just like yours. They were $1.70 each. Is that a crazy price or are the ingredients that high dig?
ingredients for macaroons are no joke- at least $15 for a big batch
ps- i love that you got a juice after your filling 🙂 it’s a good reward, huh??
It was the perfect treat after the filling. I had to wait for the Novocaine to wear off before I could actually drink it but it was worth the wait.
I agree about the blood thing. I’m pretty skeeved out about having blood drawn but if Edward were the one drawing it, I’d be TOTALLY fine with it. 🙂
You were robbed of blood today and I was robbed of a piece of my toe! Eeeek! I went to the dermatologist (for my first-ever skin check, shamefully) and she found a mole on my toe that she thought needed to go. I also managed to hold it together and not scream when I saw the needle for the anesthetic, but it was close. 🙂
Can’t wait for your crepe recipe – looks amazing!
a piece of toe?! i’m sorry 🙁 keeping fingers crossed that the little mole was NOTHING.
as a lab tech who has to draw blood (which i was extremely phobic of!), i’m here to assure you that if you didn’t cry, faint, jerk your arm when it was poked, or scream you aren’t even remotely the biggest needle- phobe on the planet! 🙂 all we ask is that you warn us if you like to faint so there is a catcher on stand by. 😉
thanks for all your exercise tips and recipes! my operation exercise most days a week starts no later than monday!
hahah good to know. that’s exactly what i did- i looked at the girl and said “i’m a fainter”, so she laid me down and had an assistant. no crying, fainting or jerking 🙂
Ohhh snap I can’t wait for that crepe recipe!! Nom nom 🙂
What about McSteamy!? He can take my blood anyyyyy day. 😉
hahah him too 🙂
Those crepes look so delicate and delicious. I just tried a piece of millet bread the other day, OMG, SO GOOD!

Getting bloodwork done is always hilariously funny for me! I have really thin veins that like to roll around a lot, so no one can ever make me bleed! It used to scare me when I was little because I didn’t like needles, but now that I’ve taken such an interest in the medical field I find it quite funny. As long as I don’t have to get poked more than 4 or 5 times, at least. Then it becomes kinda painful, hahah.
