A done deal
hellooooooo 😀 How was your day? So glad you enjoyed Chandra’s BodyPump post. It truly is an excellent workout and if they offer BodyPump near you, it’s definitely worth checking out.
So we bought a house today.
It sounds so nice and simple, like “oh, we went to the house store today and got a house.”
As you guys know, it was definitely not quite the case. Buying a house is always a huge to-do (from what I’ve heard), but ours was a short sale which made it extra tricky. We were lucky to have an incredible team working to get everything completed quickly and efficiently, and I’m already breathing a sigh of relief after a stressful few months. I’ve heard horror stories about short sales taking up to a year, and thankfully, ours only took about 90 days.
What this means:
-this time next week, we’ll be in our new house!
-I’ll have more fun pictures to post. It’s been challenging to post pics of everyday life and fun stuff (like dinner parties!) in our apartment of loaner furniture and boxes 😉
-Short sales are a beast, but definitely can be worth the wait 🙂
What this DOESN’T mean: That this blog will suddenly become the home makeover interior design-ista. Of course I’ll post house pics (especially when we get it put together!) but that’s what Young House Love is for 😉
Very convenient that this arrived today….
The Pilot said he won’t believe it until we have the keys in hand (on Monday), but title already has money from our lender and everything’s been signed and approved, so I’m already in celebration mode over here.
I definitely had a “I feel like a grown-up now” moment while I was signing the mountain of papers 😀
Some eats:
Breakfast was after a 30-minute Express Physique 57 DVD [<— a fave. You definitely feel the burn in 30 minutes. My legs were shaking!]
GF oats with Sun Warrior, mixed organic berries and almond milk + coffee with almond milk
For work lunch and snacks, I packed up leftover mushroom tart, salad, a banana and a waning almond butter jar, which I finished off at work.
It was funny, the girls in the locker room were like, “are you eating almond butter straight?!”
“Um, yes.”
Bahaha.
After getting home from signing my life away, I was excited to try one of the new-to-me zucchini marinara bowls.
The verdict? I like them ok, but don’t LOVE them. It’s basically spiralized zucchini with marinara and veggies, which would usually be a great idea, but they added sugar to it (sugar to veggies?) and you can taste it. I’ll finish the pack, but make my own from now on. I’m actually starting to feel a sugar buzz… from my vegetables.. and something isn’t quite right about that.
I’m off to get my cardio on for the day and then back home to make dinner!
See ya tonight with a fashion post 🙂
xoxo
Gina
Something to talk about: What was the first moment you felt like a “grown up”? For me, it was writing my first check to pay a bill <—an electric bill for my college apartment I shared with 3 roomies. Even though I had bills before that, it was my first time paying a bill related to somewhere I lived.
CONGRATULATIONS!! That is so exciting 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS! I think owning a home makes you, officially, a grown up. 🙂
Yah! Congratulations of your huge purchase. This is such an exciting time for you and your growing family.
You need to celebrate asap!
Congrats!!! We got out house in a short sale too, and it was such a headache but we ended up with a great deal!!
Have you picked out the nursery yet? 🙂
yep! we have a loft attached to the master bedroom with double doors- perfect nursery 🙂
I’m 21 and still waiting to feel at all like a grown-up. I’m thinking maybe that moment will happen sometime after I graduate law-school… hmm, only time will tell!
And, congrats on the house. That’s a huge and exciting accomplishment!
Congrats on your new home! How exciting!
I also eat almond butter straight out of the jar. Yum!
Congrats on the house! I can’t wait to see pictures. That’s funny about the almond butter, I got caught by my roommate eating peanut butter and jelly with a spoon. She looked at me like I was the weirdest person ever.
I’m so happy for you Gina – what an exciting time for you! The Pilot’s home, your having a mini-pilot and moving into your new home! 😀
Total agreement here – sugar on veggies is just wrong!
thank you! i’m definitely soaking in all of the excitement- it’s a nice “up” after a very rough past year
Woo!! Congrats on the house!!! 🙂
I always drool when the West Elm catalog shows up! Have fun!!! And Congrats!
ahhhhh so exciting! can’t wait to see all the pictures, and dinner parties you will be hosting!
Congrats!! And you’ll have plenty of time to get everything together before the baby comes!!
Congrats! 90 days is a long time! We are at 78 and have started looking at other places. Patience is not a virtue I was blessed with. Now you can start planning a nursery 🙂
patience is not my virtue either 🙂 i’m very excited to look at nursery decor!
Congratulations! What an exciting time in your life — baby, house — it’s just really coming together.
thank you! we had to wait a long time, but everything is starting to settle… it’s a good thing 🙂
Congrats on the house girl! That is so awesome! You have so much excitement going on right now.
a house and a baby, woop woop!! you’re a grown alright, but a fun fit fashionista one. 😉 pretty sure that’s the best kind.. CONGRATS!!
<3
Woohoo! Congrats on buying the house! I can’t wait to see what it looks like. 🙂
Congrats on the house! I couldn’t imagine the stress. At least it is now over and you can start getting a nursery together.
I think that sauce and veggie bowl thing needs… goat cheese!
OOOH why didn’t i think of that?!
yayyyy! congrats! so many wonderful things going on for you right now!
in your lunch picture, what’s in the baggie? salad dressing???
that zucchini bowl looks… ehhhhhh. don’t know that i could do it. actually i can’t think of any pre-made dinners that i like, unfortunately. well, i mean i guess that is generally a good thing. but still.. not very convenient.
yep! goddess dressing in a baggie 🙂
hahaha that’s great! no baby tupperware?? baggie seems so… iffy.. could be a huge mess!
congratulations! 🙂 i can’t wait to see pictures!
Congratulations and enjoy it!
Congrats! Very exciting, can’t wait to see pics when you guys are in it.
I’d say when my husband (then fiance) and I bought our first house when I was 23, was definitely the moment I felt like an adult! We had gotten engaged 3 months prior and I remember not feeling “old enough” to be engaged, but that quickly changed when we bought the house!
I am looking for new bedding right now from West Elm! It’s so hard to pick!
Never tried body pump but always wanted to!
Yay for buying a house!
my firt “grown-up” moment was recently, when i FINALLY got a job and moved out of my parents’ house…writing a check for $900 for my new apartment was scary but exciting!
Congrats on everything going smoothly with the house! I don’t think I really felt like a grown-up until after I had my first child and we were all living a few states away from “home”(Navy Hubby)! We were really on our own!
Yay congrats! I love West Elm–we have two slipper chairs, a coffee table, bed and dressers from there. We’re slightly obsessed. I first felt like a grown-up when I went grocery shopping by myself for the first time in college, and I was terrible at it! I got a bunch of stuff that I couldn’t throw together to make a meal. Post-college, I felt like a grown-up once I started working, but it was still exciting to me.
Wow! Congratulations! Perfect place for a family of three 🙂
Well, plus Bella!
AH, congrats! Life seems to be full of blessings for you recently 🙂
Congrats! So exciting! I could go crazy at West Elm!!!
Congratulations! That is super exciting. We just moved into a new house this year and it was the most stressful time of my life. So glad that we are settled and enjoying it now 🙂
First off CONGRATULATIONS! Buying your first house is just as exciting as getting married, having a baby and landing a great job. They are all part of “growing up” and huge steps in our lives! My husband and I bought our first house last year. It’s an amazing feeling and a great sense of accomplishment. I can’t wait to see pictures! This year seems to be so amazing for you, I hope great things continue to happen for you, the pilot and baby pilot! 😀
Yay for the house!
My “holy crud, I’m grown up!” moment was when I selected my first health insurance. I know there are lots of stressful times in the future. =/
Congrats on the house!!! So exciting.
I first felt like a grownup — when I bought my first car (with my own hard earned money!) and moved into an apartment for college — all of the bills were for me and although it sucked sometimes, I’m glad it worked out that way. It taught me how to be responsible with money!
Yay for home ownership. Im so glad you will get to be settled before baby comes. 🙂 Nice.
I love Physique 57! I need to get their DVDs. I went to a class in NYC with a friend and I totally agree…feel the freaking burn!

My husband always laughs at me because I LOVE to eat almond butter straight out of the jar, especially the TJ’s kind! It has kind of become a problem … I seem to be tearing through it a little too quickly lately!
I felt like such a grownup when I got hired for my first real job as a writer – the office building in downtown Orlando was icing on the cake!
Congrats!!! So many exciting things happening in your life! I first felt like a real grown up my last semester of college when i moved to an off campus apartment and had to sign a lease, take care of electricity and comcast bills, etc
Congrats on your house!!!!!
Our short sale took 13 months and fell thru THREE times. It was seriously one of THE most stressful things I have *ever* gone thru. And I have bought and sold lots of real estate. Including buying a house internationally. But a short sale here was such a white knuckle experience that went on..and on….for over a year. I am sooo happy for you guys! And happy that yours was pretty painless!
Congrats!
I am the HUGEST West Elm girl. My entire house, pretty much, is West Elm. That and some random Anthropologie dishes thrown in. I even have W.E. dishes. I am obsessed 🙂
Congrats…SO MUCH!!!!!!
Congrats! The first house is actually the least stressful to me because from here on out you’ll be trying to sell a house AND buy a house at the same time, and have it all work out ok timing-wise!
I’ve been eyeing the Costco zucc marinara but figured it was either mushy or sweet or tasteless. Some crushed red pepper might negate the sugar, but you already tried that, I’m sure!
MAJOR congratulations on your house!! We too purchased a short sale, which took right around 90 days. Insane and frustrating at times, but definitely worth the wait! I agree with the Pilot that it won’t feel “official” until the keys are in your hands. Good luck with it all. I can’t wait to see more photos!
Congrats, Gina! So exciting!
And I agree, sugar and veggies just don’t seem to mix. 🙂
The first pictures I would like to see is the excitement in your face when you open the pod and discover all the things you have been missing and finding things you forgot you had. Congrats!!!!!!
Super bummed the zuc bowls were a fail. I was heading to costco tomorrow and already had them on my list to try after seeing them on the blog. You win some, you lose some.
Also, congrats on the house!
I felt like a real grown up when I got my first apartment by myself, (no roomies) in Minneapolis. I still remember sitting in my apartment, listening to the sounds of the city outside my window and loving exactly where I was in my life.
Congrats on the house! It’s so nice to see good things happen for good people 🙂
Congratulations on the home being official!! I am so excited for you both and can’t wait to see what you do with the space. Please keep those pictures coming our way.
YAY!! NEW HOME HEW HOME NEW HOME!
I hope you DO post lots of house UPDATES! I love that stuff!
Congratulations!!! That is awesome! 🙂
CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS!! I am so please for you and your adult self! I personally can’t wait to see all the decorating! I first felt like an adult when I watched my parents driving away after moving my sister and I into our own apartment. She cried, and I was so excited! That marinara bowl did look kinda weird, was it raw or cooked?
