Check out my sweet tat
Actually I have two 😉
One on my foot:
And one on my wrist:
Henna tattoos!
When I expressed my dismay that I couldn’t get a *real* tattoo via Twitter –the pilot isn’t a fan- I decided to buy a henna kit on Amazon and brought it with me to Orlando.
My cousin and I had a little henna party today 😀
Fun cloudy day activity… especially since I’m exhausted from yoga with Ryan this morning.
I’m not sure if the instructor read my post from the other night, or read my mind, but today’s class was entirely different from Monday’s. It was FULL of balancing poses, much faster-paced, very intense and in an almond-shell, I got my yoga booty handed to me. I was still quivering the entire 30-minute drive back to my aunt’s house. Crazy!! I loved it 🙂
It was a little hard to get out of bed this morning because last night, my cousins, aunt and I decided to have a lovely dinner at Press 101.
Including a vino appearance:
And I had the best sandwich I’ve ever devoured in my entire life.
A roasted vegetable panini with goat cheese on wheat.
I know, huh???
And since it’s a tradition for us, we ordered the flight of chocolate for dessert.
It was out of this universe.
Not bad for a random Tuesday night celebration, eh?? 😀
For right now, I have some work to do, and as soon as my henna tattoo finishes drying, I’m gonna go on a short run to strengthen the ol’ knee. Then tonight… who knows??
I’m so glad ya’ll enjoyed the deployment post from earlier—I am so grateful for all of the other military families out there, doing what they do to keep us free and safe <3
Have some Indian food tonight (it’s Indian Food Wednesday!)!
xoxo,
Gina
Do you have a tattoo?? What is it? I have nary a tat, but my little bro has quite a few awesome-looking artistic ones.
Like this:
love the henna! how fun…i do not have a tattoo and my hubby is not a fan either-glad you are having fun 🙂
No tatoos here….my mom scared me when I wanted to get one in high school that she’d take me to the plastic surgeon to have it removed. Now I’m glad I didn’t get one. 🙂
I have a butterfly with Celtic knots in the wings on my left hip. Wooo Irish roots!
Hey Gina! Just wanted to say that I love reading your blog, especially for raw food inspiration! While taking the plunge into a complete raw food diet is a little scary for me (and difficult, considering I’m a kickbox instructor/swimmer/student/constantly on-the-go 21 year old gal who needs her calories), I love reading your blog and seeing a fitness-oriented approach to raw living.
And to answer your question, I have one tattoo on my right foot. It says “thrive” in my handwriting, as a reminder of how I want to live my life, and to take every day as a blessing.
Have a great day! 🙂
I LOVE your brothers tattoo!! That’s awesome!
In the past I thought about getting a small one, but decided I might not like it when I’m a grandmother! Sandwich looks great; you’ll have to tell me what was in it. We made homemade veggie pizza tonight to die for.
hey girlie –
i had to comment on the tattoo post. i had been evaluating whether i thought one was a wise decision for years, and a few months ago i decided to get it. mine says “invictus,” which means unconquered in latin. i was on the fence about the permanence, but when in my life will i not want a reminder that we are unconquered in the face of challenges? i say if it is a passion in your life, then it’s your story to share. but i appreciate you honoring his wishes!

Do you often exercise multiple times in a day? I’ve had days recently when I was itching for more.
quite often– i get better workouts if i split it up, and i usually have to teach aerobics later in the day so i’ll do weights/yoga/something else for me in the morning.. i usually think of teaching as workouts for my students even though i get something out of it too 🙂
i just make sure to eat accordingly and get enough fuel 🙂
No tats for this chick…
I took Calvin’s Beginner Power Yoga class at CPY Tuesday am…which class did you take?? I parked myself by a heat vent so I could really detoxify 😉
Let me know if you’re planning on going again tomorrow or Friday!
xx
I have 20. Gah!
20! my brother is on his way 🙂
love the henna! i want to do that with the tats i want (hummingbird and family crest) to make sure i want them where i want them!
i have two tattoos: a nautical star on my inner wrist and the nefer (egyptian) symbol on my hip.
I only have a tiny tattoo on my hip… It’s a runic symbol. You can’t even see it when I’m in my bikini!
My boyfriend hates it and tries to rub it off. lol
I really have been itching to get something bigger and cooler, but I wouldn’t want it to show when I’m just wearing a tanktop or something, and I don’t like them on feet/ankles since then they show when you wear fancy shoes… I don’t know. I wish I could feel comfortable with a tattoo anywhere, but I know people would comment about it being “trashy” or something if you could see it when I’m dressed up. =\
I have ‘Est. 1977’ on my lower back, I didn’t want anything girly and got it for my 30th, took a long time to get it done though! I absolutely love it!
Love that you had a yoga butt kicking kinda class..love it when that happens and that you walk out feeling high on life! woohooo!
Henna tats look beautiful!
Real tats..yes, plenty. I have an Om symbol on the top of my foot and lots others. I always want more. But for the past 4 yrs Ive either been pregnant or nursing, so needles were not really recommended but I think I am ready now to maybe get more ink (art!)!! 🙂
I have 3 tatts – each of them very symbolic and meaningful to me. My partner doesnt like 2 of them (and the fact I have 3) but he understands that its comething that is important to me – a means of expression, life, love, grief, reminders etc.
I think if its important to you then do it!
Dont worry about what people may say. I get lots of comments about the one I have on my arm and people these days are more open minded and interested about them rather than being judgemental and making assumptions about you.
I have six tattoos in avrious places. My husband has them all over his arms and legs so he doesn’t mind 😉 I have a sun, a cross, a flower, a fairy, butterfly, and a tribal design with a heart in the middle. I want to get a new one though, it’s been about 5 years! I want to get a word or saying somewhere that I will see it, like my wrist.
I love tats. I think they look sexy! I have a dolphin and my zodiac symbol. I want another but I’m not sure where to put it yet. My hubs has one, too!
I have 3. A celtic knot, a claddagh and a four leaf clover . . . another Irish gal here. They are all strategically placed on parts that gravity/age won’t affect!
Mo
I love your henna tattoo! I recently got a henna tattoo at an Indian Cultural Event here in Boston (amazing, right?) – so much fun! A henna party would make a great activity for a bachelorette party (or military wives party!)
oh that’s a great idea!!!
I do, I do! I have two tats. One on my lower back that is an Egyptian Ankh that means “life”. And another on my left wrist which is my zodiac sign (taurus). Wasn’t super thrilled about that one…stupid spring break idea.
Oooh I may have to have a veggie goat cheese panini now!
Love the henna tattoos!
I have an anchor on my left inside ankle. It means hope. And then I have the word grace on my right hip. I like it but I purposely got it so it wouldn’t be visible even when I had on a bikini. I got both of these before my hubby and I started dating. I want to get another one but he’s not super into the idea. My sister and I each want to get a tiny little heart on out right feet for our dad who died in 2008. Hopefully because of the significance, he will change his mind.
If the pilot changed his mind what would you get?
i would get an indian-style flower on my foot (kind of like the henna one, but REAL!)
Cool Tat! I got one of those Henna tattoos on my stomach once. Turns out I was very sensitive or allergic, and I had this horrible itchy rash for about 3 weeks! ICK!!!!
Never thought I would get into tattoos. Got my first one at 30. Six years later I have 4: one sexy, one spiritual, one memorializing someone and one regretted one. 😮
I like some tattoos. A lot of them look trashy. For some reason, I like it when people have sleeves! I, myself, would never get a tattoo, just because it’s permanent.
my brother is on his way to having full sleeves- crazy kid 😉
I love tattoos! I have a lot of them- my arms, both feet, hand, back, ribs. My favorite would have to be the fruit and veg on my feet, though 😀
I have a little tattoo. It’s my zodiac symbol ( I’m a Leo, rawr!) on the outside of my right ankle in that little groove. It’s perfect because it’s small and it hides well. I’m getting another one after I run a marathon either on my foot and or the inside of my left ankle. I love ones on the wrist!
I have one tattoo on the small of my lower back. Total ‘tramp stamp’ positioning, but I’ve got a weird thing with symmetry! My tattoo is a black tree of life that I drew myself. The artist modified a bit to make it a better tattoo but I love it. I wish I had the guts to make a bigger one, with roots that really dug in deeply towards my legs but…alas I’m a wuss.
I had a bunch of piercings too, but in my old age (I’m almost 30..hah) I’ve gotten way way more wussy. I’ve backed out of getting my nose pierced about 6 times now.
My boyfriend, used to get the kanji for “bushi” over his heart, henna tattooed on him before competitions. I’m looking to get that permanently tattooed for him as a gift soon!
I have two tattoos but have been tattooed 6 times! LOL. Can you say cover-up? My first tattoo was when I was 17 and a senior in high school. It was a rose and rose but on my right back shoulder blade. Then I let my boyfriend tattoo his name on my ankle (very, very, very, bad bad idea..do not recommend!)Then I met my husband and well he didn’t like the idea of another guys name on his girlfriends body (can’t say I blame him) and that was covered up. Fast forward to our 1 year anniversary, I make the same mistake twice and have his name put under the roses in Chinese. This was done in Italy by an Italian girl who probably new nothing about Chinese (again, big mistake). Fast forward 15 years and I had my back tattoos covered with water, cherry blossoms and a chrysanthemum, love it!Covers my whole right back shoulder. A year later I covered the cover up on my ankle with a traditional Sailor Jerry bluebird, lotus flower, and cherry blossoms. Love it too!! Covers the inside of my left leg from ankle to half way up my calf. Moral to the story, no names and make sure what you put on your body you can live with, well…. forever! My husband has no tattoos and I love them. We both respect each other and that goes a long way! My daughter and son always tells me how beautiful my tattoos are! I think it’s a personal choice just like anything else 🙂
oops, guess I should make sure my spelling is correct before posting. I meant to say “rose bud” not rose but!
