Let’s see, what’s been going on since I last saw your lovely faces?

I worked yesterday,

and when I got home, we made a fort with our comforter and watched Elmo with Liv inside our makeshift tent.

The Pilot put Livi to bed and I joined some friends for a hot yoga class. There were 10 of us in our little group!

I’m pretty sure last night was the only time I’ve fallen on my face in a class. This is why even though I can do a headstand, I don’t usually do them in class. I’m SO afraid of toppling over and creating a yoga domino effect. I did an arm balance on one side and, word to the wise, it doesn’t always work out the same way on the other side. At least I didn’t have far to fall?

After class, I joined some girlfriends for dinner and sangria. Not a bad Wednesday night 🙂

I’ve seen this survey floating around the blog world in the past couple of months. While I’m not really a survey blog person, it’s something I enjoyed reading, so I thought I’d share my own little rendition. I’d love to read some of your answers, too!

Current book(s):

I mentioned it recently, but I’m 100% sucked into And the Mountains Echoed. I’m already looking for my next book since I have a feeling that I won’t be able to wait longer than a couple of nights to finish this one. On the radar: Gone Girl, Proof of Heaven (I’ve read half but took a break), and Quiet (since I’m an introvert, I’m particularly intrigued by this one).

I’ve been listening to the Macklemore album (“Same Love” and “Castles” are my favorites) and right now I’m digging anything Calvin Harris for workout/life. When my iPod is on shuffle, things like this tend to happen, too….

Current nail color:

They were army green this week, but started to chip last night so I took the polish off. Naked nails for now, sand color on my toenails:

Anything grilled! I especially love the Pilot’s famous turkey burgers with sweet potato fries and salad.

I haven’t been watching TV much at all lately. Still need to finish Season 3 of Downton, but sadly, E! ruined the season finale for me. Sad trombone.

Current wish list:

A new black maxi skirt. I accidentally put mine in the dryer, and it’s now a capri skirt.

Current need:

A haircut! Things are looking a little shaggy, and twisty bangs is happening on an almost-daily basis. (Madre was sick so there was no way I was going to ask her to cut my hair during that time. I have a tentative appointment for next week, and in a month or so, I’m chopping it off, Guiliana style).

Current indulgence: 

The above chocolate chip cookies that my friend Susan made. You could taste the butter in them, and they wrapped my soul in a blanket of happiness.

Our cousins are moving here from Key West in a little over a week. We’re so excited for them to be in Tucson and for Livi to get to grow up with her little girl cousins 🙂

    Workout went great! I didn’t fall over doing the one leg balance combo, and I only had to modify one set of the pikes, already stronger from last time. This is such a good shape up program; it has been really motivating, and really challenging!

      I’m most excited to have the summer off with my favorite blessing, my one year old son! Hopefully, with the time off, my nails will have a chance to be colorful instead of naked like they are now.

    Current nail color is a bright pink on my toes! They are always painted and I love changing it up every few weeks 🙂

    Loved Gone Girl, after having my baby (he’s 10 months old now), it is the book that got me back into reading because it sucked me in and I read it in a weekend. I was in a reading slump and it renewed my love in a good book that you just can’t put down!

    OMG, you HAVE to read Gone Girl!! It will totally blow you away! And since then I’ve been sucked into the two other Gillian Flynn books as well. I don’t know how she thinks up such twisted stories, but I can’t get enough! 🙂

        If I knew how to capitalize, bold, make this post jump out of the screen and dance a little zumba beat in front of you, etc., etc., I would. You MUST read Gone Girl. Gillian Flynn’s style is mesmerizing; I literally read this book from 6 pm to 6 am (clearly not ashamed). Read it read it read it!!!

    I fell on my face doing side crow last week in yoga…. oh well, it’s a practice 🙂

    My current fave nail polish color is Essie Under Where.

    My current Blessing is everything in my life. My hubs and I are married almost 26 years, both our kids are amazing young adults and living on their own making their own way. My heart is so happy and filled with JOY. <3 Blessed!!

    I’m really digging this weeks workout. Superset 1 is no joke… I start to sweat by the end of the first set. Love it!! I second Gone Girl for your next read; I could not put that book down. I just finished “The Yonahlossee Riding Camp For Girls” which turned out to be a bit taboo and racy, but it sure held my interest!

    Workout 2 was great this morning! This time the first lunge combos were the most challenging, as my legs were still tight from Monday’s workout. I was able to do some pikes this time too, instead of having to modify all of them to knee tucks. Progress!

    Current need: Shoes and a haircut! My hair is literally down to my butt now–lol oh and some new sun dresses and a manicure.

    Current workout: cardio dance! I’ve found some great DVDs. I’m lovin Pump it Up Ulimate Dance Workout–so much fun!

    Today’s active recovery felt great (had to switch up yesterday and today on the schedule). Current nail color is looking pretty sad so plan is to take it off tonight, naked nails mañana, and probably a coral Essie shade slapped on over the weekend (I do my toes only since I can’t keep it on my fingers to save my life). Blessed with my own little Olivia and our newest addition, Eva, who arrived at the end of May. The husband makes me feel like a pretty lucky gal too 🙂

    The HIIT part of the workouts has been really difficult for me, since I don’t usually do training like that AT ALL. I almost quit (like seriously, I got off of the elliptical) but then I actually did the whole thing! I was really proud of myself. All of the stability ball work has also been difficult for me, since I don’t usually make that part of my routine either. I’ve had to modify some of that, so I’ll definitely be working on that even when SSU is over!

    Current blessings: family time this weekend, a recent appointment with my Dr., my amazing husband and our sweet puppy
    Fav workout: holy smokes SSU week 2 has been kicking my behind! I also teach hot yoga and have decided my cardio wildcard for the week will be one of our vinyasa flow classes that really gets your heart rate up.
    Fav snack: apple and light string cheese or fage 0% honey yogurt
    Fav drink: I love mint, lemon, cuke water as well 🙂

    I’m sore from having done Workout 2 yesterday– those ab moves were tough! Since today it wasn’t pouring for the first time in days when I got off work, I went for a run. But I’m excited to try Workout 2 again tomorrow!

    I also love Calvin Harris for working out, and my latest pumped-up music discovery has been the new Will.I.Am album.

    I’m all about watermelon right now! Tho I should probably stop buying the giant melons, I’m running out of fridge space. I’ve even made some protein smoothies with watermelon and some blueberries.

    This weeks work out is killer! But I’m noticing my balance is slowly improving. I added some extra cardio today to make up for going out to Red Robin last night. Happy to report I didn’t eat all the delicious and calories filled foods at our table.

    Workout 2 & HIIT went much better today than the other day. I made it through all of the pike/push-up sets and I did the whole alphabet this time! I was pretty excited 🙂

    I feel blessed that my little family is healthy! There have been quite a few tragedies around me lately and I’m just very thankful for everything I have.

    My toenails are purple and my nails are naked- tomorrow they’ll be bubblegum pink!

    I’m excited for the weekend! I always love extra family time, and it’ll be so fun to celebrate my husband’s first Father’s Day on Sunday. Current nail color = nada. I barely have enough to shower, get dressed, and do my make-up and hair these days, let alone do my nails. 😉 And current blessing would be my little family. I have the best husband I could ever ask for and the cutest little baby I’ve ever seen.

    Today I did workout 2 and a HIIT run on the treadmill! Whew! I was a sweaty mess after that one.

    I fell on my face once while doing crow. Even the yoga teacher laughed at me, and she’s the nicest, sweetest woman! Now I always make sure to have a blanket or something soft under my face whenever I do crow.

    Second round of SSU Workout 2 is in the books and, gosh, it is ever so humbling…especially since I did 246810 for the HIIT portion. Wowza!!!

    Also, I’m not even a mom (I’m a speech therapist) and every.single.time I plug my phone into my car ABC Rock turns on! I have no idea why it happens but my hubs and friends all think I’m super cool- ha!

    Nails- Essie Saturday night fever and a light aqua on toes

    Blessing/excitement- family always but about to spend beach wk together!

    Workout #2 is intense! This wk has been flipped flopped as well as invaded by some happy things (kindergarten graduation! Of my baby!) so today was steady state swim class and a 90 min yoga class. I almost cried when they started doing lower abs, still sore from 2 days ago. Those pikes!!

    Nail color: Essie watermelon. So bright and summery! I’m excited for SSU to be over so I can do another body composition analysis and see how I’ve improved! I’m loving how fit and strong I feel these days.

    Today was my rest day and I spent it running errands without the kids. So, I call that active rest.

    Workout 2 is so awesome. It killed me, but I loved it! Superset 1 was confusing to me the other day, but I think I have it down now. I kind of feel like a gymnast on a balance beam- does that sound right? Lunge, curl, 1-leg row, lunge, row, 1-leg tricep extension, & repeat.

    Also, never felt my abs worked like that before. Bam!

    Next time your face touches the ground in a side balance, use it as a lever to help you get back up. In side crow, turn your cheek down and let it find the floor, and you may find new space in your core to get up higher. I LOVE falling in yoga. It means I’m getting over myself- not every poss has to be perfect, it’s just playing and practice after all!
