Friday Faves
Hi friends! Happy Friday! I hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start. Iโm a late-night blogger tonight because weโre spent the day celebrating and enjoying having the Pilotโs side of the fam here in town. They came in yesterday, and ever since then itโs been non-stop party time…and itโs the best. Itโs been so amazing to see his dad, mom, stepmom, sis, our niece and nephew again, plus meet his Aunt Kathy for the first time. Sheโs a real-life angel.
Everyone was stopping by our house before we headed to Salty Snapper for dinner, so the girls and I made chocolate chip cookies.
After we got to catch up and say hello to everyone, we headed out to dinner. We were in one of the side rooms so the small kiddos could shake their legs out a little – they got really into dancing to the music that was playing – and shared appetizers. I got the usual salmon for my entree, and shared a half-dozen oysters with Liv. Add oysters to the list of foods that Liv is obsessed with that I didnโt try until my 20s.
This morning, everyone came over for brunch at our house. I made cinnamon rolls, a fruit bowl. bacon,
and of course, Nanaโs egg dish.
We headed to base to watching the jets do target training (it was SO cool to see them up close, even though the loud blasts sufficiently freaked out all the kiddos), and had a small ceremony since the Pilot is pinning on a new rank.
I feel like I donโt mention it much on the blog, but the Pilot works SO, so hard. He goes and goes all day at work, and then the second he comes home, he puts on his โdad hatโ until the girls are in bed, and then works some more until he goes to sleep. His job is demanding and complex, and heโs accomplished some incredible things. Iโm excited that his family could all be here and that we can spend the weekend celebrating and enjoying their company.

And now, itโs time for some Friday Faves! These are some of my fave finds, wears, eats and reads from the week. Iโd love to hear yours if youโd join in the party in the comments section!
Fashion + beauty:
This sleeping mask. A sample arrived in my last Sephora goodie box, and after one use, I needed the whole bottle. I love that you can add a thin layer before you go to bed and wake up with bright skin in the morning. It smells absolutely beautiful – every time I wear it to bed, the Pilot tells me I smell good…and he pretty much never notices how I smell haha – and it makes my skin noticeably smoother and brighter the next day. Love, love, love it.
These jean shorts. They were in a recent Stitch Fix and Iโve worn them so many times already. Theyโre a perfect everyday pair of jean shorts.
Eats:
Finding Kite Hill at PUBLIX. I thought this was a Whole Foods-only thing, so when I saw it by the cream cheese, I started cackling and grabbing handfuls of the stuff to throw into the cart with wild abandon. Ok, no I didnโt, but I bought a couple with a creeper smile on my face.
Cucumber dill chicken salad (YUM).
Kale and quinoa salad with soft-boiled eggs.
Read + watch:
What happens when kids set the rules. I canโt help but wonder what it would be like with Liv and P. I think Iโm going to try it one day and report back…even though the thought of no official bedtime makes me break out in hives a little.
Happy to be aligned with a company fighting for change in the cosmetics and personal health industry.
Can I crash this familyโs musical numbers?
An interesting perspective on self care.
Fitness:
Another use for this deceptively evil fitness tool.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo

What happens when kids set the rules had me laughing out loud. I don’t have children but if I did, I don’t feel I would be brave enough to try this! (I so want you to though!) An interesting perspective on self-care is such a great article. I always feel a lot of times self-care is closely linked to self-discipline.
Congrats to the Pilot; enjoy having his family around for a while!!
Congratulations to the pilot! You must be so proud of him. So impressive.
Have an amazing visit with his family! Happy weekend!
thank you so much! yes, i’m so proud of him ๐
hope you had a great weekend, too!
How did you like the almond cream cheese? I found it on sale at a magical price of $3.30 and HAD to get it (it was almost 50% off) otherwise I can’t afford that stuff. It was really tasty. Not sure when they stopped being an exclusive Whole Foods thing.
i was shocked to see it at publix! i LOVE all the kite hill products i’ve tried so far
I have to try that egg dish someday. It always looks and sounds so good when you blog about it!
yes, you would love it! it’s my favorite food ๐
I love how you feed your family & loved ones with what seems to be a perfect mix of healthy/indulgent food. Food brings people together, and I think it’s extra special that you take the time to cook/bake even though I”m sure you have so much on your plate & can easily order takeout—although, there’s nothing wrong with that on occasions. ๐ You inspire me to cook more for my family/friends.
thank you so much! that made my heart so warm ๐ i love cooking for others – it’s definitely one of the ways i show i love them- so it makes me happy to cook when people come over
Congrats Pilot!!
(I should have read this post before today’s. I told Pilot Happy Birthday!! Ha!! ๐ )
haha no worries! it was like his birthday ๐
