Friday Faves

Helloooooo from California! We can never really stay away that long. 😉 We flew into San Diego on Wednesday afternoon, and it was the perfect time for a little Tiki Port break.

Tiki port

We spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening looking for shells, being mystified by seagulls (P calls them “eagles” every time we see them, which is hilarious), and jumping over waves. The Pilot and I decided the biggest lie ever is when kids say they’ll only get their feet wet. Both girls were drenched. We changed and had sushi on the patio. Sushi always tastes better near the ocean, even if it’s not “local.”

The rest of the weekend will be spent living our best Disney lives before heading back to San Diego to meet up with friends.

Good eats:

Can’t wait to try this butternut squash and turkey chili recipe.

Chocolate chip sweet potato muffins.

Tried this jerky on the airplane was pleasantly surprised. The ingredients were fairly simple and it tasted pretty fresh instead of jerky-ish. <— things I say in real life that really don’t make sense.

A delicious vegetarian meatball recipe.

Read, watch, listen:

You need this Arisocats and Lizzo mashup in your life.

I read “La Casa de los Espíritus” in college and remember being engrossed by the story and characters. I couldn’t read it fast enough and it was one of those novels that sticks with you for a long time. I found the English version at the library, so I’m re-reading it… and obviously getting a lot more out of it the second go-around (and in my first language).

Loved chatting with Davida in on her podcast! I’ve been a huge fan of her blog for a LOOOONG time and was so honored (and nervous!) when she asked me to be on her show. Click here to check out the episode details. We chat about how the blog began, the impact of social media, and my experience having my breast implants removed.

 Have a lovely weekend!
