Friday Faves

Hi friends! Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a nice week. It’s been a pretty good one over here with the usual rotation of ‘Rona things: lazy mornings, work stuff/chores, and afternoons at the pool. Our bed is being delivered today (wahoo!) so I’m excited to have our bedroom finally finished. I’ll share all of the details next week! We used Havenly for our redesign (my link gets you $50 off a full package and $20 off a mini) and it’s been so fun to see it come together.

(We had a gorgeous double rainbow this week)

It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. Please shout out something you’re loving in the comments section below.

Fitness + good eats:

– I’ve been doing a combo of Les Mills, Peloton, Barre Body, and strength work from my Lean Machine program this week. While I CAN’T WAIT to get back to in-studio barre and hot yoga classes one day, the home workouts have been doing the trick. I miss teaching live classes but can’t say I miss the commute to the gym.

– For meal planning this week, I was determined to make some different recipes instead of rotating through our usuals. We had an awesome chicken curry, Greek salads with turkey meatballs and hummus,

and last night, I made eggplant parm (half of it with vegan cheese for meeeeee) and it was so.good. I think the cure of being so sick of cooking is to continue to make a couple of new recipes each week. I’ll share next week’s meal plan on IG stories this weekend. <3

Garlic basil chicken with tomato butter sauce.

– Making these black bean burgers this weekend.

Vegan peach pie! YUM

Fashion + beauty:

These ombre leggings are on sale right now! When I would wear these to the barre studio, I’d often get asked where I bought these. I’m also obsessed with these leopard leggings. (You can use the code GINAHAR for 15% off!!)

My favorite “mom swimsuits” are here.

LOVE this tie-waist dress.

Packing up two of our new All Bright C Serums for winners who ordered during our Friends & Family sale! (I love doing sneaky giveaways like this.)  Congrats to Lisa F. and Jessica V.! Stay tuned for more sneaky giveaways, too.

Read, watch, listen:

Lin breaking down Hamilton on Drunk History. (<— heads up on language but it’s my favorite thing I’ve watched all week.)

Why so many parents feel numb right now.

Sam Smith singing “Fix You” is just magic.

5 things you should be doing in your 30s.

Things you’ll understand if you grew up with The Babysitters Club. (Ps has anyone watched the series on Netflix? I think it’s might be a little too mature for Liv but kind of want to watch it myself.)

“You don’t need that overpriced coffee” and other things I’ve learned.

Zac Efron in Down To Earth. Zac Efron in general.

Happy Friday, friends!

xo

I loved The Babysitter’s Club! I watched it with my 8 year old and thought it was really well done. There is an episode where Kristi gets her period, and at the end my daughter turned to me and asked, “So what just happened?”

LOL. it’s a shocking moment when you have to explain that one.

Haha, I had the EXACT same experience with my own daughter (who will be 8 next week)…funny! I LOVED LOVED LOVED the Netflix show and it was the best mother-daughter tv viewing we’ve had together. Highly recommend and I think 8 is the perfect age.

Absolutely watch the new BSC! I’ve only watched one episode so far but it was the most pleasant half hour I’ve experienced in months. Took me back to a simpler era, when I would be picking out a dorky back to school outfit from the Land’s End catalog and watching TGIF shows.

I don’t think the show is any more mature than the books, at least not in any way that wouldn’t go over a kid’s head if they didn’t already have a frame of reference for it. If you do watch it with your older daughter and she’s into it, she might also like the new graphic novel versions of the original books. My students in grades 2-4 are obsessed with them!

ok i’m so happy to hear that! we’ll definitely watch it together.
love the idea to order some of the books, too, if she’s into it

I liked that quarantine reality check article, so true! I’ve enjoyed seeing all the kids in my neighborhood have a 90s style summer, playing outside all the time. I wish I could join them, but work and conference calls take over lol. I’m excited because we booked some time off after Labor Day, hoping that it will be safe enough to travel to South Dakota to visit some national parks and spend time outdoors. It’s very empty right now from what I’ve read, so I hope it stays that way D:. Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday, Gina! Thanks for sharing my post about things to do in your 30s! That’s awesome you’re redoing your bedroom, we’ve done a few things to our house as well, like get a new fence and we have a new front door on order during this strange be-at-home time. As far as workouts, I was SO over doing home workouts the first couple months, but I must admit, I’ve got a good line-up now! I also did my first live Peloton ride this week, the Cody Rigsby Britney ride, and it was SOO fun!! Highly recommend! 🙂 Have a great weekend! xoxo

BSC was great! Claudia was my fave. It came out the same day as Hamilton, and I watched all of it that weekend. It was a good, TV-packed weekend! The show addresses some social issues like transgender kids and periods but in a thoughtful way that I think isn’t inappropriate for kids. But it may prompt some questions!

    • Fitnessista on July 19, 2020 at 11:49 pm

ok great to know! we’re definitely going to watch it

Hi! Is your blue tank Lulu? It’s so cute! I’ve been looking for ones that tie up (front or back) that don’t accentuate my midsection pudge too much 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 19, 2020 at 11:49 pm

      it’s an old fabletics tank!

Did the Friday email go out this week? For some reason I didn’t get it and I normally do

    • Fitnessista on July 19, 2020 at 11:49 pm

wahhh it didn’t – i’m sorry about that!! i’ll have one this week for sure

    • Melissa Caulfield on July 20, 2020 at 7:07 am

Yes the dew skin my mind went blank as I was typing. Ok thanks. I was looking for a tinted moisturizer with SPF …that is also safe for acne prone , sensitive skin. Curious as to which ” foundation” you use? Thanks Gina.

  9. Melissa Caulfield on July 19, 2020 at 5:36 pm

I have a question about Beautycounter ( silver tube) of moisturizer with spf …are samples available? I’m thinking I would be shade light but gosh do many colors.

    • Fitnessista on July 19, 2020 at 11:49 pm

the dew skin? i don’t have any samples of those right now! but the good news is we have a 60-day no questions asked return policy. you can try the color you think would work and if it doesn’t, you can easily exchange/return
