Friday Faves (+ a giveaway)

Hi! TGIF. Hope youโ€™ve had a wonderful week and have some fun plans to look forward to this weekend! We have a couple of fun things in the works, and Iโ€™m so excited to see Gone Girl this weekend. I know it probably wonโ€™t live up to the book, butโ€ฆ Ben Affleck.

Some faves from the week and around the web:

Fall centerpieces! Even though it was 90 degrees while I put this one together, it felt so right. I got everything at Home Goods; love the leaves, and love that it isnโ€™t too Halloween-y and can stick around until Thanksgiving.

We have figs in the yard! I was a little apprehensive about eating them -it all comes back to childhood trauma from when I ate mushrooms growing outside. It was not a good experience for anyone- but they are delicious.

How to determine blood test results. So helpful!!

What weightlifting for 20 minutes does for your brain.

An amazing feature from Cosmopolitan. Thank you so much for including me <3

All about that upright bass. SO GOOD.

Easy reminders to get in your workout.

Count me healthy bracelets. I was so excited when Chelsea Charles reached out to me about these awesome bracelets. I mean, my permanent marker on the water bottle trick worked to count my water intake, but this is a little more fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

These gorgeous bracelets can be used to count anything youโ€™d like to track. Some ideas: water intake, weekly workouts, nursing or pumping sessions for mamas, words of kindness, or positive thoughts. They can also be a helpful technique for those who are looking to break habits, such as cigarette smoking (by counting how many days youโ€™ve gone without), or reducing artificial sweeteners. All you do is slide is the little beads from side to side.

Wearing it throughout the day is also a beautiful visual reminder of your goals. I love how well-constructed the bracelets are; while dainty, theyโ€™re extremely durable.

Chelsea Charles kindly sent me two bracelets: one for me, and one for one of you. The rose gold Tri-color bracelet I have to give away is valued at $105, and since itโ€™s in my possession, you never know what will make itโ€™s way into the winnerโ€™s goodie mail. (Iโ€™ve been known to put in fun beauty products, homemade cookies, snacks and treats.)

I am loving the pulled pork and rice and veggies that I cooked alllllll day for tonight was loved by every. single. member. of. the. family! Yehhhhh. That is some achievement! I’d love to track my water…or maybe veggies? A veggie count would be good. Maybe a glass of water with every veggie would multi task the beautiful bracelet?!?!

    • Hayley on October 10, 2014 at 4:21 pm

Meant to also say that I have figs here…in England! Crazy huh! They are really good. My children fight over them and I have to balance on the trampoline to get the best ones….which may or may not make it back to the kitchen and their waiting little mouths!!

What a lovely bracelet! There are do many things I count with an infant in the house–diapers, naps, feedings, etc.

Today I’m loving the bright, warm colored quilt I just finished. Perfect for our cold dreary weather!

  13. Mary Ann on October 10, 2014 at 4:37 pm

This Friday I am LOVING the Massachusetts fall foliage outside my houseโ€ฆ it is our first year in this neighborhood and we’ve got red, orange and yellow leaves right outside:)

I’d probably count water intake with the bracelet- as a teacher I always forget to keep hydrated!

  19. Christina on October 10, 2014 at 4:51 pm

I love this bracelet! So cute! I would use it to monitor water intake, now that I’m pregnant I have to be so much more conscious of how much/little I have had.

  20. Kelsey on October 10, 2014 at 4:52 pm

Those bracelets are adorable! Rose gold is my favorite!! Also– I love the fall decorations at the beginning. I’m not too into Halloween, so the fall decorations like that that can be used for both Halloween and into the rest of the season are PERFECT. I just sent the link of it to my mom for ideas for decorating our house!

    Thanks!

    Kelsey

  32. Courtni H on October 10, 2014 at 5:24 pm

These are awesome! I would absolutely use it to track glasses of water. Sitting as a desk in a corporate job all day- its so easy to get lost in the spreadsheets and data and before I know it, its the end of the day and I’ve only had one water bottle! This would be so handy in preventing that.

  33. Melissa a on October 10, 2014 at 5:33 pm

This bracelet is beautiful and such a great idea! I especially love the idea of using it to track nursing for new mamas. I remember moving my bracelet from wrist to wrist to remember what side I was on for nursing ๐Ÿ™‚ I should get one of these for all my new mama friends! Loving today: Fiona walking around in her bike helmet all morning, saying “beep beep beep” every time she backs up ๐Ÿ™‚ My heart…
    Have a great weekend!

  46. melissa on October 10, 2014 at 5:54 pm

definitely to count times I get up from my desk. I just started a new job and I really need to be aware of getting up and moving and not sitting too long!
