Friday Faves (+ a giveaway)

Hi! TGIF. Hope youโ€™ve had a wonderful week and have some fun plans to look forward to this weekend! We have a couple of fun things in the works, and Iโ€™m so excited to see Gone Girl this weekend. I know it probably wonโ€™t live up to the book, butโ€ฆ Ben Affleck.

Some faves from the week and around the web:

Fall centerpieces! Even though it was 90 degrees while I put this one together, it felt so right. I got everything at Home Goods; love the leaves, and love that it isnโ€™t too Halloween-y and can stick around until Thanksgiving.

We have figs in the yard! I was a little apprehensive about eating them -it all comes back to childhood trauma from when I ate mushrooms growing outside. It was not a good experience for anyone- but they are delicious.

How to determine blood test results. So helpful!!

What weightlifting for 20 minutes does for your brain.

An amazing feature from Cosmopolitan. Thank you so much for including me <3

All about that upright bass. SO GOOD.

Easy reminders to get in your workout.

Count me healthy bracelets. I was so excited when Chelsea Charles reached out to me about these awesome bracelets. I mean, my permanent marker on the water bottle trick worked to count my water intake, but this is a little more fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

These gorgeous bracelets can be used to count anything youโ€™d like to track. Some ideas: water intake, weekly workouts, nursing or pumping sessions for mamas, words of kindness, or positive thoughts. They can also be a helpful technique for those who are looking to break habits, such as cigarette smoking (by counting how many days youโ€™ve gone without), or reducing artificial sweeteners. All you do is slide is the little beads from side to side.

Bracelet 1 of 1

Wearing it throughout the day is also a beautiful visual reminder of your goals. I love how well-constructed the bracelets are; while dainty, theyโ€™re extremely durable.

Chelsea Charles kindly sent me two bracelets: one for me, and one for one of you. The rose gold Tri-color bracelet I have to give away is valued at $105, and since itโ€™s in my possession, you never know what will make itโ€™s way into the winnerโ€™s goodie mail. (Iโ€™ve been known to put in fun beauty products, homemade cookies, snacks and treats.)

Does my new apartment count!? It’s my first (tiny) apartment without any roommates post-college/grad school! ๐Ÿ˜€

If it doesn’t, I’m loving my Camelback water bottle. I carry it everywhere and have dropped it at least 3 times this week (oops) and it’s still going strong!

I work as an after school coordinator for under served elementary students. They are bundles of energy and are learning how to interact with each other and in traditional school settings where they often aren’t getting enough individual attention. I would use the bracelet as a reminder to reinforce the positives and I find the best parts of everyday.

I’m loving my job right now, even though it’s really busy. I know a lot of people who are unhappy in their jobs, so I am very grateful for a job I enjoy where I get to work with great students and co-workers.

I am loving all the Halloween decorations (and candy) and I love that bracelet!

  34. Katherine K on October 10, 2014 at 8:20 pm

I’m loving the fall weather! It’s gorgeous here in Wisconsin, although I suspect we will be VERY jealous of your sunshine in a few months when we’re dealing with the cold!

I would use that BEAUTIFUL bracelet to keep track of my workouts! I always used a paper planner, but since we had our second baby 7 months ago it’s working better for my husband and me to keep our family schedule on a single Google calendar account, so we can both know what’s going on in the next few weeks at any time. Th only drawback is, I would always keeps track of my workouts in my planner, just to make sure that I was keeping to about 4 or 5 each week. I’ve been looking for a substitute that doesn’t require me to keep a separate “workout” calendar (along with home, work, etc.) and this would be a great way to do it!

Also, random: the slow cooker recipes recently have been great!! Have you tried “Slow Cooker Revolution” by the Americas Test Kitchen folks? A total lifesaver, and everything (seriously, every single recipe) is delicious!

I’m loving that it is Thanksgiving weekend for us in Canada

The flower shop sign is too cute. I’m kind of loving that some HGTV shows are now on Netflix. A big deal for someone who doesn’t have cable. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d love to count my glasses of the water.

I work at a school for kids with special needs and I am LOVING all the Halloween projects we are planning! Fall is my favorite time of year and its so fun to share that with the kiddos!
I would for sure count water- I always feel like I’m drinking a ton of water, but when I stop to count it at the end of the day I fall so short of what I was hoping for!

i’m in my 50’s and am training for my first half marathon for next year. I am so pumped that i have been changing my eating habits and eating more protein and drinking more water, so maybe the bracelet would help with either my intake of water or how many miles I can go!

    thanks for the great giveaway.
