Friday Faves (+ a giveaway)

Hi! TGIF. Hope youโ€™ve had a wonderful week and have some fun plans to look forward to this weekend! We have a couple of fun things in the works, and Iโ€™m so excited to see Gone Girl this weekend. I know it probably wonโ€™t live up to the book, butโ€ฆ Ben Affleck.

Some faves from the week and around the web:

Fall centerpieces! Even though it was 90 degrees while I put this one together, it felt so right. I got everything at Home Goods; love the leaves, and love that it isnโ€™t too Halloween-y and can stick around until Thanksgiving.

We have figs in the yard! I was a little apprehensive about eating them -it all comes back to childhood trauma from when I ate mushrooms growing outside. It was not a good experience for anyone- but they are delicious.

How to determine blood test results. So helpful!!

What weightlifting for 20 minutes does for your brain.

An amazing feature from Cosmopolitan. Thank you so much for including me <3

All about that upright bass. SO GOOD.

Easy reminders to get in your workout.

Count me healthy bracelets. I was so excited when Chelsea Charles reached out to me about these awesome bracelets. I mean, my permanent marker on the water bottle trick worked to count my water intake, but this is a little more fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

These gorgeous bracelets can be used to count anything youโ€™d like to track. Some ideas: water intake, weekly workouts, nursing or pumping sessions for mamas, words of kindness, or positive thoughts. They can also be a helpful technique for those who are looking to break habits, such as cigarette smoking (by counting how many days youโ€™ve gone without), or reducing artificial sweeteners. All you do is slide is the little beads from side to side.

Bracelet 1 of 1

Wearing it throughout the day is also a beautiful visual reminder of your goals. I love how well-constructed the bracelets are; while dainty, theyโ€™re extremely durable.

Chelsea Charles kindly sent me two bracelets: one for me, and one for one of you. The rose gold Tri-color bracelet I have to give away is valued at $105, and since itโ€™s in my possession, you never know what will make itโ€™s way into the winnerโ€™s goodie mail. (Iโ€™ve been known to put in fun beauty products, homemade cookies, snacks and treats.)

Happy Friday!

After a lot of traveling recently, I’m loving being at home!

  2. Laura on October 11, 2014 at 3:36 pm

I’m loving visiting my brother’s family with my mom and seeing my 16 year old nephew play football. He is totally dedicated to be the best he can be by practicing, working out and eating right. He’s gone from being a self conscious teen to one that’s super proud of himself and his accomplishments. He’s an inspiration to me. I’d use the bracelet to keep track of my workouts.

I think the bracelet is an awesome idea! I would use it to count water intake. I drink out if a bottle and do great at work, but once I get home I slack. I think the bracelet would be a constant reminder to keep drinking

  16. Jenna on October 11, 2014 at 7:52 pm

Great post! That bracelet looks beautiful. I’d count glasses of water as I’ve been having trouble keeping up my intake lately. I’ve been loving the changing colors of the trees and earl-grey green tea!

And I would use that bracelet to keep track of water intake!

  22. Sam on October 11, 2014 at 8:46 pm

Beautifil bracelet. I’d use it to count my blessings every day.

  29. Christen on October 11, 2014 at 11:01 pm

I love the bracelet! I would likely keep track of times I take the steps over the elevator. I am trying to move more at work and the elevator is the biggest culprit to my laziness.

  30. Carmele on October 11, 2014 at 11:51 pm

I’m loving watching the Cats from home tonight and catching up on the blog! I’d count the number of times I make stop and make a healthier choice whether it was a food item , workout or attitude during the day!

  31. courtney on October 12, 2014 at 12:04 am

I’d probably use it to remind myself to stop, relax, and enjoy the scene each day – I stay at home with three children age 5 & under and it’s BUSY. Kinda hard to remember that at times

  32. Carly M on October 12, 2014 at 12:40 am

What a cool idea. After that tragic accident in La Jolla this week, I think I’d use it as a reminder to slow down and enjoy each day.

  33. Megan on October 12, 2014 at 12:46 am

Oh I love this! I would totally count how often I loose my cool with my awesome but test that boundaries onery 3year old! I could add when I loose it but then take away when I remain calm and patient!

  38. LJ on October 12, 2014 at 5:01 am

I would love a bracelet to keep track of my water intake. As the weather cools and I no longer crave a glass of cold, refreshing water I struggle with drinking enough water.

Today I love the fall colors outside. It is a gray day, but the vibrant leaves make it worth while to go out regardless.

How is Bella doing? sending her healing and strength.

  39. Lydia on October 12, 2014 at 5:35 am

I’m loving having spent an idyllic weekend in the English countryside with my partner’s family! The weather is turning and it’s been absolutely beautiful being out of the city. Rose gold is my absolute favourite, so I’d love to use the bracelet to count my weekly workouts.

  40. Katie on October 12, 2014 at 7:31 am

I would count sweets. They are taking over my life!

    I’m loving cool fall mornings

  43. Chrystal J on October 12, 2014 at 9:00 am

I’d use it to count my blessings! So often I get bogged down with the things that aren’t perfect and forget to acknowledge the amazingness around me. I’d love a gentle reminder to pay attention to the small stuff.

  44. Natalie on October 12, 2014 at 9:38 am

I’d count glasses of water! Since I started work as a nurse instead of a day job it seems like I forget to drink water all day. Also, loving that the bracelet is rose gold!

  45. Debbi on October 12, 2014 at 9:53 am

My daughter is pregnant with her first and living in San Diego (Navy) will her husband. She doesn’t have any family for help for the first year and I would love to help her with this beautiful bracelet.

  46. catherine c. on October 12, 2014 at 10:41 am

I would count water intake, like you suggested! Had my facialist tell me recently that she could tell I was super dehydrated by my skin (noooo!) and then later that I night, I got over-heated and sick at an outdoor festival. Def chalking it up to being dehydrated! So I need that reminder to hydrate!

  47. Emily @esquaredsouth on October 12, 2014 at 11:02 am

I love your Friday round ups! I always find cool stuff to read. I’d use it to keep track of how many times I move during the day at my office job. I get to drink all the water I need, but I don’t have the opportunity to get up and get moving. This would be a great reminder to do a few desk push ups, chair tri dips, etc. Hope you and your family are having an awesome weekend!

  48. Sharon Howard on October 12, 2014 at 11:07 am

I’m Loving staying home and watching movies all day because it’s raining all weekend here and I want to stay dry. I would Love this bracelet for my daughter she would Love it!!!

  49. Krista on October 12, 2014 at 11:39 am

I would count exercise sessions once my little one is here in December!
