Friday Faves (+ a giveaway)

Hi! TGIF. Hope youโ€™ve had a wonderful week and have some fun plans to look forward to this weekend! We have a couple of fun things in the works, and Iโ€™m so excited to see Gone Girl this weekend. I know it probably wonโ€™t live up to the book, butโ€ฆ Ben Affleck.

Some faves from the week and around the web:

Fall centerpieces! Even though it was 90 degrees while I put this one together, it felt so right. I got everything at Home Goods; love the leaves, and love that it isnโ€™t too Halloween-y and can stick around until Thanksgiving.

We have figs in the yard! I was a little apprehensive about eating them -it all comes back to childhood trauma from when I ate mushrooms growing outside. It was not a good experience for anyone- but they are delicious.

What weightlifting for 20 minutes does for your brain.

An amazing feature from Cosmopolitan. Thank you so much for including me <3

All about that upright bass. SO GOOD.

Easy reminders to get in your workout.

Count me healthy bracelets. I was so excited when Chelsea Charles reached out to me about these awesome bracelets. I mean, my permanent marker on the water bottle trick worked to count my water intake, but this is a little more fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

These gorgeous bracelets can be used to count anything youโ€™d like to track. Some ideas: water intake, weekly workouts, nursing or pumping sessions for mamas, words of kindness, or positive thoughts. They can also be a helpful technique for those who are looking to break habits, such as cigarette smoking (by counting how many days youโ€™ve gone without), or reducing artificial sweeteners. All you do is slide is the little beads from side to side.

Bracelet 1 of 1

Wearing it throughout the day is also a beautiful visual reminder of your goals. I love how well-constructed the bracelets are; while dainty, theyโ€™re extremely durable.

Chelsea Charles kindly sent me two bracelets: one for me, and one for one of you. The rose gold Tri-color bracelet I have to give away is valued at $105, and since itโ€™s in my possession, you never know what will make itโ€™s way into the winnerโ€™s goodie mail. (Iโ€™ve been known to put in fun beauty products, homemade cookies, snacks and treats.)

  2. Ginger on October 12, 2014 at 12:55 pm

I’d love to count glasses of water during the day. I always have my water bottle with me, but am sometimes so busy that I just forget about it!

  3. Dara on October 12, 2014 at 1:04 pm

Those bracelets are gorgeous! I have so many things I could count: finished water bottles, workouts, and in about 6 months…nursing. I’ve been really sick this first tri and out of my workout groove so I’d surely use it to help me get out of my slump!

I’m loving this beautiful fall weather here in Michigan. 60 degrees, no humidity, and lots of sunshine!

  5. Sarah b on October 12, 2014 at 1:40 pm

I would count the amount of times I have something to say, but don’t. Wisdom has two parts: having something to say and knowing when to let it go. If it doesn’t serve anyone for the better….just swallow it

This is awesome, Sarah! I am stealing it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Evita on October 12, 2014 at 4:32 pm

What a lovely bracelet idea! If I were to win it, I would count how many times I made someone smile that day. (This is a new focus of mine. When I make others happy, I feel happier).

  13. Sarah on October 12, 2014 at 5:25 pm

This is amazingly genius. I’m gonna consider getting one of those– that would be perfect for workdays– I have the hardest time remembering to drink water!

  15. Stephanie on October 12, 2014 at 5:55 pm

What a gorgeous bracele! I rremember back in the day I created a bracelet to count my Weight Watchers points. Nowadays I’m all about just being healthy and I would definitely use the bracelet to keep count of my water . I’m a first grade teacher, and I find it so hard to make time to get my water in!

  16. Cel on October 12, 2014 at 6:06 pm

I would count good deeds! Whether that’s paying for someone’s coffee, reaching out to a friend or volunteering up time…I think it would remind me to be grateful and help others. Cheesy but true! Life is all about connecting and helping others. Thank you for doing so on your site ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

  17. Ali S on October 12, 2014 at 6:35 pm

I think I would count how many vegetables I get in a day! Trying to get more of a variety of veggies…some are really delicious, I just forget about them and get in a rut!

As far as things I’m loving today… it’s Canadian Thanksgiving and I am so thankful for the turkey, mash, and pie that I’m about to go enjoy. And of course the family and friends I’ll be surrounded with when I do it!

Hmmmโ€ฆ. I would count down the days until the weekend! Just kidding! Since I only run around 2 days a week, I would probably count the miles I run each week! A fun (and super pretty) way to do so, if you ask me!

  27. Kristin on October 12, 2014 at 7:43 pm

I love the idea around the counting bracelet! I have been working to lose around 30lbs and am down 11 so far. I would love to get a bracelet like this to track my water intake to help me continue my weight loss.

  36. Sara on October 13, 2014 at 6:31 am

I would love this to count my water intake or weekly workouts. Starting a healthy lifestyle is so hard! I have been starting and stopping for months now and every little bit would help for motivation.

  37. Cathy on October 13, 2014 at 6:38 am

These bracelets are so pretty, such a neat idea. So would use the idea of tracking my water intake. I have to drink so much water, to keep myself from getting to dyhaderated, and some days I lose track. ๐Ÿ™‚ Such a great giveaway.

  38. Emily on October 13, 2014 at 7:41 am

  44. Kay on October 13, 2014 at 12:35 pm

Lately, I’ve been trying to take more time for myself. One of my goals is a daily yoga practice.

I’d love to count a successful week (seven practices!) of yoga with the bracelet. ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. Kari F on October 13, 2014 at 1:24 pm

I am loving the long summer we are having here in Seattle, WA. The sun has been making an appearance late into the season this year and I just LOVE it!
I like the idea of using the bracelet to count my water intake. I keep a bottle on my desk, but I am still not a consistent about my intake as I’d like to be.

  46. Stephanie on October 13, 2014 at 1:55 pm

What a great bracelet! Really clever! I love the mixed metals in it! Lately I’m loving that at night the air is getting crisp enough for fires in the fireplace!!

  47. Portia smith on October 13, 2014 at 1:56 pm

I’m loving the fact that my workout is done and I had a healthy lunch! (I just visited San Diego last weekend and stayed right by that flower shop-funny coincidence!)

  48. Nicole on October 13, 2014 at 2:28 pm

What a beautiful bracelet–I love the mixed metal. I would want to count my weekly workouts for positive reinforcement. I would also maybe use it to track when I get frustrated or annoyed at work and use it as a reminder to stop and take a more positive outlook and change my behavior.

  49. lizzie on October 13, 2014 at 3:56 pm

I’d use it to count how many stretch breaks I remember to take each work day! its so easy to get wrapped up in work and not realize how long you’ve been sitting.

  50. Angelee on October 13, 2014 at 4:08 pm

I am loving this relief from extreme heat here in LA. I finally took a 45 minute walk on my lunch break and didn’t sweat through my work clothes! ha!
