Friday Faves (+ a giveaway)

Hi! TGIF. Hope youโ€™ve had a wonderful week and have some fun plans to look forward to this weekend! We have a couple of fun things in the works, and Iโ€™m so excited to see Gone Girl this weekend. I know it probably wonโ€™t live up to the book, butโ€ฆ Ben Affleck.

Some faves from the week and around the web:

Fall centerpieces! Even though it was 90 degrees while I put this one together, it felt so right. I got everything at Home Goods; love the leaves, and love that it isnโ€™t too Halloween-y and can stick around until Thanksgiving.

We have figs in the yard! I was a little apprehensive about eating them -it all comes back to childhood trauma from when I ate mushrooms growing outside. It was not a good experience for anyone- but they are delicious.

How to determine blood test results. So helpful!!

What weightlifting for 20 minutes does for your brain.

An amazing feature from Cosmopolitan. Thank you so much for including me <3

All about that upright bass. SO GOOD.

Easy reminders to get in your workout.

Count me healthy bracelets. I was so excited when Chelsea Charles reached out to me about these awesome bracelets. I mean, my permanent marker on the water bottle trick worked to count my water intake, but this is a little more fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

These gorgeous bracelets can be used to count anything youโ€™d like to track. Some ideas: water intake, weekly workouts, nursing or pumping sessions for mamas, words of kindness, or positive thoughts. They can also be a helpful technique for those who are looking to break habits, such as cigarette smoking (by counting how many days youโ€™ve gone without), or reducing artificial sweeteners. All you do is slide is the little beads from side to side.

Wearing it throughout the day is also a beautiful visual reminder of your goals. I love how well-constructed the bracelets are; while dainty, theyโ€™re extremely durable.

Chelsea Charles kindly sent me two bracelets: one for me, and one for one of you. The rose gold Tri-color bracelet I have to give away is valued at $105, and since itโ€™s in my possession, you never know what will make itโ€™s way into the winnerโ€™s goodie mail. (Iโ€™ve been known to put in fun beauty products, homemade cookies, snacks and treats.)

  18. Kristen on October 10, 2014 at 9:16 am

The breakfast sandwich I just made/devoured! TJ’s pumpkin bagel (impulse purchase in a post-workout hanger trip to TJ’s) toasted – one side lightly buttered, the other spread with goat cheese almond spread (equal parts goat cheese & almond butter, vanilla, honey, s&p, pie spice, orange flavored craisins), then topped with a runny egg and arugula dressed in fig balsamic. Foodgasm central.

  19. Rachel on October 10, 2014 at 9:16 am

Fall is my favorite season. The best Maine season of all. I would use the bracelet to keep track of how many kind things I say to my kids. With a toddler I say a lot of “no” and I have been working on saying more positive things to balance out!

Today I’m loving finally feeling better – I’ve been sick with strep all week! As for the bracelet, I think I’d use it count positive thoughts towards myself because I’ve been really working on having more compassion towards me lately, knowing that that will ultimately help me immensely in my health and fitness goals. That bracelet is gorgeous!

Beautiful bracelet. I will count my water intake.

  48. Lynn on October 10, 2014 at 9:37 am

Hi Gina. What a neat bracelet! Thank you for sponsoring such a beautiful product. It was honestly difficult on what to choose to count! LOL

Hmm, I would say to count the days of avoiding artificial sweeteners. Eliminating diet sodas and sugar free gum are my specific focus and this would be a neat way to push towards that goal.

Have a great weekend. Always enjoy reading about your weekend adventures.

  49. Elizabeth on October 10, 2014 at 9:37 am

What a great idea! I would count nursing sessions right now.

I’m loving that today is my birthday (quarter of a century year old!) and I get to spend it with all of my best friends at our friend’s rehearsal dinner. And with even more celebrations the next day for the wedding day!
