Friday Faves (+ a giveaway)

Hi! TGIF. Hope youโ€™ve had a wonderful week and have some fun plans to look forward to this weekend! We have a couple of fun things in the works, and Iโ€™m so excited to see Gone Girl this weekend. I know it probably wonโ€™t live up to the book, butโ€ฆ Ben Affleck.

Some faves from the week and around the web:

Fall centerpieces! Even though it was 90 degrees while I put this one together, it felt so right. I got everything at Home Goods; love the leaves, and love that it isnโ€™t too Halloween-y and can stick around until Thanksgiving.

We have figs in the yard! I was a little apprehensive about eating them -it all comes back to childhood trauma from when I ate mushrooms growing outside. It was not a good experience for anyone- but they are delicious.

How to determine blood test results. So helpful!!

What weightlifting for 20 minutes does for your brain.

An amazing feature from Cosmopolitan. Thank you so much for including me <3

All about that upright bass. SO GOOD.

Easy reminders to get in your workout.

Count me healthy bracelets. I was so excited when Chelsea Charles reached out to me about these awesome bracelets. I mean, my permanent marker on the water bottle trick worked to count my water intake, but this is a little more fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

These gorgeous bracelets can be used to count anything youโ€™d like to track. Some ideas: water intake, weekly workouts, nursing or pumping sessions for mamas, words of kindness, or positive thoughts. They can also be a helpful technique for those who are looking to break habits, such as cigarette smoking (by counting how many days youโ€™ve gone without), or reducing artificial sweeteners. All you do is slide is the little beads from side to side.

Wearing it throughout the day is also a beautiful visual reminder of your goals. I love how well-constructed the bracelets are; while dainty, theyโ€™re extremely durable.

Chelsea Charles kindly sent me two bracelets: one for me, and one for one of you. The rose gold Tri-color bracelet I have to give away is valued at $105, and since itโ€™s in my possession, you never know what will make itโ€™s way into the winnerโ€™s goodie mail. (Iโ€™ve been known to put in fun beauty products, homemade cookies, snacks and treats.)

Let me count the ways I could use this counting bracelet!
    1. How many bottles of water I drink! 2. How many times I have taken the dog out during the day! 3. How many laps around the neighborhood I have done! 4. Have I called everyone I need to on the weekends?!
    This bracelet is very clever!

  6. Allison on October 10, 2014 at 9:45 am

That is such a neat idea! Currently, I am loving the fall weather! And I would totally use that bracelet to count how many times a day I took a short walk break instead of just sitting around.

I’m loving teaching at 5:30 AM every Friday! Everyone in my class are such ROCKSTARS and their positive energy and good vibes help me have the best Friday ever! The bracelet is fab! I love that it’s cute and dressy enough for officewear. I’d use it for water intake. Ha- I’d probably also use it in the opposite direction, maybe “marking” when I would have a negative thought or comment. Just to remind myself to be and think positive!

  28. Catie on October 10, 2014 at 9:57 am

I am loving that I got that darn skin cancer cut out yesterday! Feeling blessed for early detection! I’d use the bracelet for counting days without sweet tea (aiming for water or unsweetened tea).

I’m loving that today is my birthday, the Baltimore Orioles are in the AL Championship series and play their first game tonight, and this weekend is filled with plenty of friend and family time. As for the bracelet, I would count how many servings of veggies I eat per day since I know I do not eat enough!

  37. Erica on October 10, 2014 at 10:04 am

I would definitely use it to count water intake. I used to be so much better at paying attention to how much water I’m drinking (I taught PE outside in Tucson. HOT!), but ever since I’ve left that job it’s been something I haven’t really thought about too much.

  38. Jackie on October 10, 2014 at 10:06 am

  42. Christine on October 10, 2014 at 10:10 am

Gone Girl is super good! I have recently made a concerted effort to be better about my overall fitness. I am using a food diary to track what I eat and hitting the gym 3 times a week. But where I am struggling is drinking enough water. I would use this bracelet to keep track of my water intake throughout the day!

  43. Lauren on October 10, 2014 at 10:11 am

Loving Friday, my end of the week soy latte, and listening to some awesome tunes!

  44. Katherine M. on October 10, 2014 at 10:12 am

I’ll do both! The thing I’m loving today is Flywheel… just did my first class this morning and oh. my. gosh. So sweaty. And the thing I’d count is glasses of water… I’m always trying to get that hydration in!

  48. Missy on October 10, 2014 at 10:17 am

Oh, I have some pretty bad habits I need to break, I’d use the beads to count (days at first) and then months free !

  49. Karin on October 10, 2014 at 10:18 am

Today I’m loving double dates, cuddles with my dog, and scrambled eggs. Why are they so delicious?

I would probably track water intake with the bracelet. It’s so beautiful!

I am LOVING the fact that even though my surgeon told me I had to wait 2-3 weeks after my sinus surgery to return to exercise, today she gave me the go-ahead after just 10 days. Woo! ๐Ÿ™‚
