Friday Faves (+ a giveaway)

Hi! TGIF. Hope youโ€™ve had a wonderful week and have some fun plans to look forward to this weekend! We have a couple of fun things in the works, and Iโ€™m so excited to see Gone Girl this weekend. I know it probably wonโ€™t live up to the book, butโ€ฆ Ben Affleck.

Some faves from the week and around the web:

Fall centerpieces! Even though it was 90 degrees while I put this one together, it felt so right. I got everything at Home Goods; love the leaves, and love that it isnโ€™t too Halloween-y and can stick around until Thanksgiving.

We have figs in the yard! I was a little apprehensive about eating them -it all comes back to childhood trauma from when I ate mushrooms growing outside. It was not a good experience for anyone- but they are delicious.

How to determine blood test results. So helpful!!

What weightlifting for 20 minutes does for your brain.

An amazing feature from Cosmopolitan. Thank you so much for including me <3

All about that upright bass. SO GOOD.

Easy reminders to get in your workout.

Count me healthy bracelets. I was so excited when Chelsea Charles reached out to me about these awesome bracelets. I mean, my permanent marker on the water bottle trick worked to count my water intake, but this is a little more fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

These gorgeous bracelets can be used to count anything youโ€™d like to track. Some ideas: water intake, weekly workouts, nursing or pumping sessions for mamas, words of kindness, or positive thoughts. They can also be a helpful technique for those who are looking to break habits, such as cigarette smoking (by counting how many days youโ€™ve gone without), or reducing artificial sweeteners. All you do is slide is the little beads from side to side.

Wearing it throughout the day is also a beautiful visual reminder of your goals. I love how well-constructed the bracelets are; while dainty, theyโ€™re extremely durable.

Chelsea Charles kindly sent me two bracelets: one for me, and one for one of you. The rose gold Tri-color bracelet I have to give away is valued at $105, and since itโ€™s in my possession, you never know what will make itโ€™s way into the winnerโ€™s goodie mail. (Iโ€™ve been known to put in fun beauty products, homemade cookies, snacks and treats.)

I’m definitely one of those people who always thinks the book is better than the movie but I was really impressed by “Gone Girl.”

    That bracelet is beautiful!

I m loving the space that I am in – by which I mean that today, all of the arduous mountains I’m trying to move in my world seem to be truly blessings that I get to do, or get to achieve. Bonus that is a glorious October day, and I’ve seen my first taste of fall color.

thing i’m loving? planning for the holidays. I don’t like Christmas creep, but as a handmade gift maker, planning is required and I’m actually kind of in love with it right now

  17. Susan (Oliepants) on October 10, 2014 at 11:46 am

What a beautiful bracelet. I would use that to count glasses of water I need to drink a day. After having kids, I’ve really let that slide.

  18. Trish on October 10, 2014 at 11:46 am

I’d count hugs from my toddler! My favorite thing in the entire world.

  19. amber conger on October 10, 2014 at 11:47 am

I am loving crock pot weather! Soups and roasts and stew, OH MY!

  20. Maggie on October 10, 2014 at 11:47 am

Right now I’m loving that I successfully packed lunch every day this week and did a fabulous job making budget-friendly meals. My biggest expense is definitely on groceries every week since I love cooking. It’s tough when you want to eat a healthy, varied, diet, but I learned this week that canned tuna is underrated and I should make more simple things to keep me going during the week.

  21. Jennifer T on October 10, 2014 at 11:48 am

I’m loving the fact that it’s Friday! The bracelet is such a clever idea, I love that you are the only person who knows what you are trying to track, everyone else just thinks its a pretty piece of jewelry.

  24. Rachel on October 10, 2014 at 11:50 am

Not planning to see Gone Girl but do love the Affleck.

I would use the bracelet to count days and as a visual remind as you said. I’m planning to start a pre-holiday high raw detox. nothing crazy, just fruits and raw veg until dinner, then some cooked some raw for my evening meal. Plus mim PB cup from TJ’s b/c those are a nutritional staple ๐Ÿ˜‰

  25. Angel S. on October 10, 2014 at 11:50 am

    I would count my workouts!

  26. Sara @ Lake Shore Runner on October 10, 2014 at 11:51 am

That bracelet is beautiful and such a great idea! I would love to get one for my mom because I am always urging her to drink more water and this would be a great visual reminder. The fitbit has really motivated her to get more steps in during the day so I hope this will do the same!

    And I love baked goodies!

  27. Melissa on October 10, 2014 at 11:56 am

I love that my children are growing up to be gentlemen. Parenting is not easy, the little things like them holding a door, complimenting another person or being conscious of world events and their impact makes my heart soar.

Love the bracelet and love the blog (and it’s evolution over the years) .

  28. Katie Rose on October 10, 2014 at 11:57 am

oh my gosh I love the idea of these bracelets! I’m a few weeks from delivering my 3rd baby and I’d love to use it for water, breastfeeding & workouts! I’d get so much use out of this bracelet. What a genius idea:)

  29. Trisha on October 10, 2014 at 11:57 am

  31. Jennifer on October 10, 2014 at 11:59 am

What a cute bracelet and idea behind it! Today I am loving the crisp cool weather outside!

  32. Jes K on October 10, 2014 at 11:59 am

I am loving fall boots. It is the ONLY thing I embrace about the changing seasons.
I would track water intake with it, I (literally) almost never drink water, so something like this would help I think.

  33. Claire on October 10, 2014 at 11:59 am

What I’m loving today is that bracelet! I would absolutely definitely count water intake. I was just about to order the water bottle that keeps track for you, but I MUCH prefer this as a chic alternative ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. Meggan on October 10, 2014 at 12:02 pm

I love this bracelet idea, and it’s beautiful too. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am loving the rain this morning. I’m one of those weirdos that enjoys the rainy days.

  36. Mary on October 10, 2014 at 12:03 pm

I’m loving the Beautiful Fall Colors. Love the idea behind this bracelet. I would love to use it to count positive thoughts. Sometimes it’s hard to think something positive when life can get crazy busy.

  37. Amber Schumann on October 10, 2014 at 12:04 pm

That bracelet is such a clever idea, and it’s beautiful too!!! It would be super useful to use to my water intake. But thinking outside the box here… I would try to use it to count/reflect on happy moments each day. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the negative and stressful moments of the day… It would be a refreshing change of pace to have a reminder to look at the positive.

And something I’m loving today (which would also count as a positive moment): I totally killed an eeeearly morning 8mile run. San Francisco Nike Half Marathon in 9 days and SO excited!!!

  38. Laura @SheEatsWell on October 10, 2014 at 12:04 pm

I’d count water intake. I always need to be better about hydration. I cannot wait to see Gone Girl too!!

  39. Olivia on October 10, 2014 at 12:04 pm

Those bracelets are gorgeous! I’m having trouble keeping up with my water intake – I do well in the morning, but throughout the afternoon and evening I slow down. I think this bracelet would be a helpful reminder to keep me on track!

  40. Caroline on October 10, 2014 at 12:04 pm

Planning on seeing Gone Girl this weekend as well! Love the bracelet, could definitely use it to count my water intake.

  41. Karin Carmack on October 10, 2014 at 12:08 pm

I am loving it is Friday and I am planning on taking my 3 kids to the movie “Girl Rising” which is about the power of educating girls then to the Richmond Folk Festival. A fun day planned after a chaotic week. I am going to use the bracelet to help my 5 year old daughter learn the alphabet. She is struggling with it so for every letter she masters we can move a bead over. We can reverse direction after we master the first 12 ๐Ÿ™‚

  42. Tara | Treble in the Kitchen on October 10, 2014 at 12:09 pm

I LOVE your centerpiece ๐Ÿ™‚ So pretty!! And those bracelets are so pretty too! I am loving fall flavors right now…I actually ran out of my pumpkin pie spice which was practically a kitchen emergency. Good thing I’m going grocery shopping soon!!

  43. Miriam on October 10, 2014 at 12:09 pm

I am loving this amazing fall weather that accompanied me throughout my long run today! I loved seeing the leaves change colors, the jack-o-lanterns and other Halloween decorations around the neighborhood and the slight drizzle that caught up with me as I finished out my run. YAY for fall!

  44. Kayla on October 10, 2014 at 12:10 pm

Today I’m loving that I have fun plans for the weekend with my favorite people and I’m loving that my brother made it safely to South Korea (he’s stationed there for the Army)!

I would use the bracelet to track and motivate me for workout days!

  45. Katie W on October 10, 2014 at 12:11 pm

I would count days or weeks binge and purge free. It would be a great motivational tool and a reminder of how far I’ve come as the number goes up ๐Ÿ™‚

    TGIF!

Something I’m loving today: My husband is hunting for a week and I’m looking forward to a GIRLS NIGHT with my two minions: homemade pizza pockets (7 year old requested artichoke hearts, 4 year old requested salami), movie selection and staying up later than normal!

  47. Jenn on October 10, 2014 at 12:13 pm

Loving that it is Friday – it has been a long week! Also loving the bracelet!!

  48. Anna on October 10, 2014 at 12:14 pm

Gone Girl was JUST like the book! I always like to read the books before the movie because they are always better. However, I think I would have enjoyed the movie Gone Girl more if I hadn’t read the book! With all the twists, it made the movie so thrilling! I hope you enjoy it!

  49. Shani on October 10, 2014 at 12:15 pm
