Material Girl
Hey guys! Happy Friday!! What are you up to this weekend?
This morning we had an AWESOME bootcamp class- I’m loving teaching these classes 😀 After work, I came back and got ready to hit the road.
I’m all packed up for Orlando with the necessary roadtrip materials.
(Hahah nothing like a maltipoo booty perched on your jammie shorts)
A beautiful filling bfast:
-1/2 C oats and 1 T chia seeds, chilled in the fridge overnight with 1 C almond milk
-1 bananner
-1/2 scoop Vanilla Sun Warrior
-cinnamon, maca, cacao nibs, raw cacao powder
Clothing material:
Snackage material:
Entertainment material:
I’m really excited to listen to Water for Elephants – I read the book a few years ago and LOVED it, and since they’re making it into a movie (with R-Patz), I need to refresh my brain 😉 Also very stoked for the Eclipse soundtrack and Glee (including the season finale songs). I’m going to be busting out all the way to Orlando. Sorry, Bella 😉
Vieserton is at the kennel since she wants to make a snack out of my aunt’s yorkie.
The plan for this weekend is to chill with my cousins – my little flower girl and her familia are in town, too- take LOTS of yoga (I bought a hefty Bikram package), shop and feast <3
See ya from Orlando!
xoxo,
Gina
Something to talk about: What’s your favorite roadtrip destination?? Right now, the standards are Jacksonville and Orlando 😀 When we lived in Fayetteville, NC our favorite places to roadtrip to were Raleigh and Wilmington.
Upcoming: WEEK 4 of the Summer Shape Up will be posted on Monday! Please share your success stories with me: fitnessista at gmail dot com
I loved Water for Elephants, too! Great read. We are kinfa boring and don’t roadtrip anywhere. Does the mall count? 🙂
Have a safe trip!! 🙂
aww cute doggy pics 🙂
Hope you have a fun trip! sounds like a weekend of pure joy!
I wish I could do that frequently… this weekend will be filled with homework+boyfriend time (always fun! lol)
When I do get the chance to take a roadtrip…it is to this little lakeside town called Port Elgin in Ontario Canada… it is absolutely beautiful. A great place to relax 🙂
My favorite place to roadtrip is Boston! I live in Western, NY so it’s only like a 6 hour drive, but it’s one of my fave places 🙂
On another note, Gina, I remember you mentioning nutritional yeast that you put on your egg puff (which, by the way, I have made everyday this week–the BF loves it too!). Just wondering what kind you get and where you get it…looking for something to take the place of all that cheese that I love to put on eggs 🙂 Thanks in advance and have a safe trip!
Water for Elephants is such a good book! I had no idea they were making a movie, so excited!
I love roadtrips to Atlantic City. 🙂
I love listening to books on tap during a road trip. It makes it go so much faster. (Though we can’t do it at night or my husband starts falling asleep at the wheel.) Right now my favorite road trips are within VA, where I live. But I’d love to drive down to NC this summer.
I loved Water for Elephants also and plan on reading it a couple more times before the movie comes out! 🙂
We love to travel to South Carolina! Preferably Charleston or Beaufort. 🙂 So beautiful down south!
Oooh have a fun weekend! I don’t know that I have a “favorite” road trip. Since we’ve been in Virginia, we go to Nashville frequently since my family is there. But at the end of the month we’re moving to Sacramento, CA. First trips on my list are San Francisco and the beach!!
Hope you have a good trip to Orlando and a great weekend!
Have a great trip! I hope the weather is awesome!!
Hey Gina,
I’ve lived in Raleigh for the past 10 years, but I was wondering if you knew of any great healthy restaurants in the area from your road trips. Raleigh has many wonderful restaurants but not many (that I’ve found) that are healthy and organic. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks and LOVE your blog– keep doing what you’re doing!
Since I’m in Toronto, I like to take road trips to Buffalo, NY to go shopping — specifically to Target! Now if only Buffalo had a Trader Joe’s, I’d be in heaven!
Have fun in Orlando!
I am so happy to find out you lived in Fayetteville, NC at one time! My husband just told me we will be moving there in about 8 months as the Army sees fit 🙂 but I have heard some terrible things about living there (not much organic food choices and no yoga) I would love for you write a blog post on living healthy as a military wife (dealing with new moves and finding healthy choices near bases). I love your blog . . . perhaps I should start one about being a healthy Army Wife 😉
since we live near the mountains the easiest and best roadtrips are to there…although i wouldn’t mind driving to the California coast sometime soon! 🙂
I love the roadtrips anywhere along the east coast or in the SW! I think that I just love roadtrips in general actually. I love all the snacks, hanging out, and not to mention singing at the top of my lungs for hours!
My favorite road trip destination is my parents house 🙂 1000 miles away and worth everyone of them.
San Francisco, hands down is my favorite road trip destination. It’s only 6 hours hours away by car. And it’s such a beautiful city. How far is Orlando from you anyways?
3 hours! not bad at all 🙂
I haven’t been on many roadtrips lately, but my favourite was to Grove City Pennsylvania, because we went shopping at the Prime Outlets and it was just fabulous!!
I loved Glee as well – re-watched it last night and I’ve got the songs on repeat now!
Have a great trip!
Hey Gina,
Is commenting the only way we can reach you? I wanted to ask you if you found Insanity was too much cardio and not muscle building enough. I was thinking of purchasing it (I have previously done P90X, Jackie Warner, P57) but I don’t want to waste my money if it’s not worth it! Thanks! Hope you have a fabulous trip!
Cindy
hey cindy,
it’s EXTREME cardio. i think it’s most effective when you do weights on top of insanity because it isn’t a lot of strength training (more calisthenics type stuff)
Have a great weekend!! 🙂 Sounds like it’ll be a blast!
The only road trip I’ve ever been on was from LA to San Diego and when I was about 9 years old! Hahaha but it was still really fun. Disneyland then Legoland!
Oh gosh I just loved the music in the finale of Glee! The medley was just glorious and goosebumps-inducing!
I’m in Seattle so I go to the San Juan Islands up north to see the ORCAS! (which we’re doing next weekend and I’m super stoked)
Sometimes we go all the way to Vancouver or over to Spokane to visit family. You’d think we’d go to Portland (where we got engaged) but the traffic between Seattle and Portland is *not* fun on weekends.
Glad you had such a nice class this morning. Have a safe trip and lots of fun. ahhhh puppy booty….Frank always sits on my clothes. I think its his way of saying- you’re not going anywhere Mom.
Have a great trip!
My favourite plate to road trip to is a little beach town called Turkey Point here in Ontario. It’s a great place just to spend the day in the sun!
I am now adding Water For Elephants to my official reading list since I’ve so many good things about it.
Living in Phoenix means I get to road trip to a lot of places like San Diego, Vegas, LA, but my favorite place is Rocky Point, Mexico. Nothing better than a 4 hour drive to another country and the ocean.
i used to LOVE driving to rocky point. it’s a bummer it’s not as safe as it used to be to go down there
My favorite road trip destination has got to be Nor Cal… Take me to Monterey, the giant redwoods or te big sur and I’m a happy girl!
Favorite roadtrip destination… Hm, it’s a long way from TN but I looove going to Destin, FL! Enjoy your weekend of fun and yoga!
I love roadtrippin between my college and my home. There are certain names of rivers that I MUST shout out “COWEEEEEMAN” and I always have a great mix that ends with “Hello Seattle” if I’m going home 🙂
Have a safe trip!
I’ve never heard of Water for Elephants.
Safe travels!
Katherine
Best roadtrips – Washington DC and North Myrtle Beach (stressing the North part of MB – the rest is trashy!). 🙂
I’m eating the exact same snack, right now, before I saw your post. 🙂
Drive safe!!! Love you 🙂
love you too, friend!
I’m a North Carolinian born and bred (Chapel Hill, baby) so I love Wilmington and Raleigh as well! Raleigh is even better now that there’s an H&M at the mall there 🙂
We were just in Orlando area to visit Disney World with my husband’s whole family and it was so fun!
Just wanted to let you know too my husband and I actually started your SSU yesterday and boy we are both sore today but in a good way! U could seriously charge money for your plan! Your clients must love you!
I’m driving to Tampa today and Glee will be on full blast!
mmmmmm cashew cookie! my fave!
so yesterday i was just saying how i need to try goji berries…well i get home and my brother happened to pick some up at the health store. (its cute – he’s younger then me and just getting into the healthy stuff and i was pretty surprised he even knew about them)
so its a different taste…gotta try it the “gina” way in some oatmeal 😉
fave road trip has gotta be NYC!!!
have fun in orlando!
wahoo road trip! so exciting 🙂 i’ve never taken a real road trip before. maybe because i get really antsy sitting for so long hahah. and now i have material girl stuck in my head. thanks 😛
Have a blasty in Orlandoo :)!
Hi! Just wanted to say that I’ve been reading your for a couple of week and I love it! I was super excited when I read that you were of Mexican decent b/c I am Mexican too! Making one of your bfast cookies in on my “to do list”!
I love roadtripping to the beach!! It’s only a two hour drive, but with friends and good music in a convertible in the summer, it’s super fun 🙂 Have a safe trip!
OMG. Raleigh shoutout!!!
I’ve waited all my life.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!
You should come visit again!
i lovvvvvveeee raleigh!!!! seriously. amazing 🙂
i’m sooooooooooooo jealous of your weekend of yoga and shopping! Have a blast for me 🙂
Awwww, cute puppers! 🙂
Summer time means road trips up to Lake George, NY. It’s always lots of fun…AND my favorite soft serve ice cream place is up there! 🙂
My favorite roadtrips are currently Chagrin Falls and Pittsburgh! I really love going down to DC and Balitmore when I have the time though
Awesome you love Jacksonville.
I can’t imagine road tripping to Raleigh, but I went to college there so was happy to get out when I could! My family is in Greensboro, Cary and Sunset Beach, so we’ve traveled a lot of the same roads.
here on Guam, road trips consist of the 30 mile, 1 hour drive to the other end of the island to go to the Air Force base. ha ha! But when we were stationed stateside, road trips always meant driving “home” to NC from wherever we were (GA, MI, CT), or driving to meet friends and run races (Philly, DC, etc).
I love that you listen to books! I do all the time and people always give me a weird look when I say “Oh, I’ve listened to that!” Water for Elephants was a good listen – a good narrator is so key!
have a nice weekend in orlando!
Hmmmm…I’m going to have to add that book to my list of books to read! I love to find new reading material. My husband and I haven’t had a chance to do much road-tripping since we moved to AZ. We drive up to UT alot because our families live there. But when we lived in NC, we went to Wilmington and Raleigh alot too. We also loved driving up to Virginia Beach!
have fun in orlando!! Safe journey!
