Reader’s Request: Guilty Pleasures

Hey everyone! Hope youโ€™re having a great morning so far ๐Ÿ˜€

For todayโ€™s readerโ€™s request post, I had no idea what to write about, so I did what any resourceful girl would do: consulted my Tweeps ๐Ÿ™‚

image

The last couple of readerโ€™s request posts have been educational, so I thought it was high time for a fun one ๐Ÿ˜€ For other non-nutrition and fitness related posts, check out Skincare and Interior decorating.

So here we have itโ€ฆ my guilty (and not so guilty) pleasures ๐Ÿ˜‰

Guilty Pleasures

1. Reality TV

Donโ€™t get be wrong, I love watching intellectual shows just as much as the next person.. but sometimes, I want to watch something requiring minimal thought process.

Particularly my girls:

Jersey Shore:

jersey-shore-cast  (Source)

I just canโ€™t look away. Itโ€™s funny though because the first time I saw Jersey Shore, I thought it wasnโ€™t real. The pilot had to convince me that people actually dress like that ๐Ÿ˜‰

2. Shopping

I online shop like the best of them, since shopping opportunities are scarce in Valdosta. Amazon, eBay โ€“Iโ€™m like a hawk.. at the last minute, Iโ€™ll swoop in, bid and WIN- Express and Sephora get hit up pretty often but my major obsession are these:

seven(Source)

JEANS!!! Sevens are my favorite and I have quite a few pairsโ€ฆ I justify this expensive obsession because the quality is amazing and since Iโ€™ve been the same size for the past 5 or so years, they last quite a while.

Purses

Youโ€™ve seen my closet ๐Ÿ˜‰

*Sigh* The only justification for this one is that a hawt purse just makes an outfit so much better ๐Ÿ˜€

Not-so-guilty Pleasures

1. Raw Cooking (or un-cooking, rather)

017

roon

I love testing out my own recipes for raw creations. Whenever I get free time, chances are that Iโ€™ll spent it making up a new recipe.

2. Reading

Iโ€™m always reading something and try to balance out the fluffy stuff with the substantial stuff.

Hereโ€™s the current โ€œfluffโ€

Chelsea_book_cover (Source)

Substance:

image

This one has taken me a while to get through.. after every section, I stop and think about what I just read and how its applicable to my life. Itโ€™s a wonderful and very interesting read.

Aerobics classes:

image

Iโ€™m like an addict when it comes to aerobics classes. Maybe itโ€™s my dance background, but if I could, Iโ€™d take a couple of classes every day. When we lived in North Carolina (and I wasnโ€™t working), I took yoga, step and spin everyday, just because I enjoy the classes so much (and yes, I ate a lot more food to fuel this activity!). The thing is, in Valdosta we donโ€™t have a lot of aerobics classes nearby โ€“unless theyโ€™re on base, or I teach them- so itโ€™s probably for the best. When I was doing so much aerobics, my body was in a catabolic state and despite my constant snacking, I was burning muscle away. So even though I was having the time of my life, I was also the โ€œsmushiestโ€ Iโ€™ve ever beenโ€ฆ just goes to show that more isnโ€™t always better when it comes to cardio and aerobics.

Ginger Chews!

GingerChewsFinalLg (Source)

I canโ€™t believe I havenโ€™t posted these on the blog yet!

I LOVE THESE LITTLE THINGS!

My friend Ashley introduced me to Ginger Chews when we went to Ft Lauderdale. Those little bites of ginger goodness stole my heart and Iโ€™ve had at least one every day since then. I try to have less than two, as theyโ€™re sugary little things, but they taste like sweet and spicy heaven.

So those are my guilty and not-so guilty pleasures. I tried to write about things not related to food (as we all know my love for almond butter, millet bread, maryโ€™s crack, red wine, maca and goat cheese is ridiculous) and hope yaโ€™ll enjoyed this readerโ€™s request!

If you have any readerโ€™s requests, please send them my way! fitnessista at gmail dot com

Iโ€™m off to:

-Weights with Ashley

-Make macaroons

-Train a couple of clients

-Feast

and

-Get ready for pilates and Zumba

Have a wonderful day!

Gina

COOKBOOKS. I love them. I can sit and look at them forever. Most people do not know that there is so much more inside a cookbook then just recipes. Well, I love books in general. I love, love, love trying new recipes. I am new to dehydrating and raw uncooking. It is hard to find a good book on dehydrating. Love, love, love this blog. It is my all time favorite.

  8. Gracie @ Girl Meets Health on February 3, 2010 at 2:46 pm

I really enjoy posts like this because I just love getting to know my favorite bloggers better =) I would definitely agree that reality TV is my number one guilty pleasure. Although, I’m kind of proud of my love for the Real Housewives and Jersey Shore cast, so I guess it’s not a “guilty” pleasure after all, haha.

My not-so-guilty pleasure is watching the NEWS (you probably wouldn’t have guessed since I just admitted to being reality-TV obsessed :P). I watch the news at least 2-3 times a day and check updates online as well. I actually wanted to be a news anchor/journalist for the longest time…
