The Face of Temptation

If this isnโ€™t tempting, I donโ€™t know what isโ€ฆ.

roons

Macaroon dough.

I always, always save myself a little at the bottom of the bowl, but today I didnโ€™t have any due to my Lenten thang.

100% willpower, beebs. It wasnโ€™t easy thoughโ€ฆ.

I may have had two mugs full of brown rice cereal to distract me from the dough ๐Ÿ˜‰

Todayโ€™s meals have been a little scatterbrained.. kind of like me ๐Ÿ˜€ I canโ€™t find my base ID ANYWHERE!

I had some millet with AB and banana before hitting the gym with Ash:

millet

We did legs today and it was fierce, then I came back from some protein:

puff

(Egg + egg white puff with nutritional yeast and chili powder)

And an hour nap with the puppers. "โ€™Twas glorious ๐Ÿ˜€

When I woke up, I made a green juice:

green juice

Salad:

salad

Kelp noodles with Goddess dressing:

kelp

And then went to work.

Work was lovely, and one of my clients (nicknamed Tinkerbell) surprised me with some goodies from her New York trip:

gifts

BABYCAKES GOODIES!

A supercute shirt and a cookbook โ€“she also got me a thing of mints from Dylanโ€™s candy with my name on it. Such a wonderful surprise ๐Ÿ˜‰

Something to talk about:

The original plan was to do a Q & A sesh per usual (lately) but I received my first backwards mean question. I mean, obviously it was bound to happen sooner or later, and after 400+ questions of pure loveliness and fun, I was kind of surprised to see this in the mix.

Hereโ€™s how it went:

Hi Gina! I’m just curious..but what happened to your nose?

i’ve broken it 3 times, and am super self- conscious about the bump on it

I get quite a few questions on the Ask Me Anything page regarding self-consciousness and if I ever have โ€œdown daysโ€ or struggle with appearance, as well as many questions regarding plastic surgery. As far as the off days, of course I do! Usually I feel pretty good, but I am 100% pure girl and I certainly have days where I donโ€™t feel cute or suddenly despise all of the clothes in my closet. A lot of it has to do with hormones and Iโ€™m sure that many girls deal with off-days like this. For the most part, I try to focus on the things Iโ€™m grateful for and find quirks in the little things I canโ€™t change.

Except for my noseโ€ฆ

I have debated for YEARS on getting rhinoplasty, as Iโ€™ve broken my nose 3 times and was left with a crooked bumpy thing in its place. But after all of that (and the pilotโ€™s begging to just keep it the way it is), I decided against it. Something about someone prying the skin off my face and taking a hammer to my schnoz doesnโ€™t sound appealing to me.

As far as plastic surgery in general goes, I really donโ€™t see a prob with it. Of course we should be happy and love the bodies we were blessed with, but if someone is so self-conscious to the extreme that surgery would help them gain back some confidence, then I say go for it. Youโ€™ve gotta do whatโ€™s best for you, always. Heidi Montag on the other hand, is a totally different story. She is a beautiful girl and had no reason to let a plastic surgeon go buck wild with her under the knife.

Just my two cents ๐Ÿ˜€

Please keep those lovely and fun questions coming and Iโ€™ll see ya in the morning with the name of the cafe!!!

xoxo,

Gina

can’t wait to hear what bakery name ya’ll decide on- the suspense is killing me:) And i’ve never noticed a bump on your nose- you’re a fly lookin chica if i do say so myself. Sorry someone felt the need to make themselves feel better by knocking on you.

  2. Kathleen on February 18, 2010 at 6:16 pm

I have the same nose and was asked growing up what had happened and I lied and said it had been broken. Honestly now I embrace it as part of my individuality and know it is unique and beautiful. You are absolutely beautiful, Gina. I wouldn’t give that question a second thought.

  3. Abbey on February 18, 2010 at 6:17 pm

lolol i can’t believe people are so personal with their questions! honestly, I would have never guessed that anything happened to your nose; its looks very straight and distinctive to me. Don’t be self conscious girl, you’re gorgeous for real!! ๐Ÿ˜€

BTW, i just wanted to say that I absolutely love your blog and how for real you are. You are so dedicated to eating well and exercising, it’s so inspiring to read and to hear from someone that has to work for their figure.

    I <333 Fitnessista!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

      thank you, abbey :)

  4. Patricia on February 18, 2010 at 6:17 pm

Okay, I just had to look back to pics of you to see what this chica noticed about your nose. Umm… I never noticed anything before and I promise I didn’t even when I was searching! Geez. Some people.

I feel your self consciousness about the nose. I do martial arts and I have been hit in the nose multiple times. Combined with having a sizable nose to begin withโ€ฆ I notice it. Most people donโ€™t though. And surgery freaks me out. Which leaves me as is, imperfect nose and all.

  5. Jocelyn on February 18, 2010 at 6:25 pm

girl..I have never even noticed your NOSE…honestly..whenever I see a picture of you..I think dang..can I look as good as her one day!? Serious! ๐Ÿ™‚ Love you and your blog!

  6. Lori on February 18, 2010 at 6:26 pm

I am so sorry somebody made a comment about your nose. I have never noticed anything wrong with your nose. I think the person who made the comment is just so jealous of you and was looking as hard as they possibly could to find some tiny flaw. They just happened to pick something that truly bothers you. Like I said, I never noticed anything wrong with you nose. You are beautiful inside and out!! Thanks for all you do!

  7. KelseyJ on February 18, 2010 at 6:33 pm

    Hi Gina,
I’m a first-time commenter and recent devotee to your blog! I just wanted to drop a little line to let you know that I think your perspective on food/fitness/life is very refreshing! Just by reading your blog I can tell that you are a very sincere, and genuinely happy person. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have always been pretty good about the fitness part, but reading about your meals & snacks have definitely inspired me to eat healthier!
I wish you the best of luck with the cafe! I look forward to reading about it in the future! ๐Ÿ˜€

      hey kelsey!
thank you so much! and hooray for a first comment ๐Ÿ™‚

I have never thought anything but “she’s gorgeous!” When looking at your pictures.

I feel like people forgot they are taking to a human..not a robot or tv character. There is no excuse for talking to a human being like that.

Can’t wait to hear the name

  9. BethT on February 18, 2010 at 6:37 pm

I am too busy being jealz of your bod to notice your nose.

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:46 pm

      LOL
      i love you beth

  10. Karyn on February 18, 2010 at 6:38 pm

i totally never noticed anything “wrong” with your nose before. i have a slightly crooked nose from it being broken and as much as i would love to fix it i doubt i will because i don’t want to deal with the procedure either ha

  11. Shannon (The Daily Balance) on February 18, 2010 at 6:38 pm

you are stunning – and i think we all know I’m not just saying that. I never once noticed your nose, but I wish I did! It’s those tiny imperfections that make us uniquely beautiful – and not looking like plastic! I used to be self conscious of these freckles I have on my tip but now they are one of my favorite features! They make me.. me!

Maybe the commenter was hoping you had some kind of badass story? like it got injured in a ninja fight? who knows — people are lame, don’t let it bring you down, girl!

I cannot WAIT to hear the name of the cafe tomorrow!

  12. Shannon (The Daily Balance) on February 18, 2010 at 6:39 pm

tip=lip — that was a pretty important element of my comment and of course i messed it up!

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:46 pm

i knew what you meant… and thank you!
wish it did happen in a ninja fight ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. borntocare on February 18, 2010 at 6:46 pm

Seriously, you’re gorgeous! Never noticed anything about your nose ๐Ÿ™‚ and I have very similar views on plastic surgery. It’s so wonderful that you have people in your life that remind you how beautiful you are and encourage you to stay away from unnecessary surgery (I hope that is not too bold to say). Honestly, you have so many stunning and fascinating qualities, anyone who has the time to notice and point out such a minor imperfection is obviously missing the point of your blog. I think you are amazing!

Can’t wait to find out the name of the cafe!

  14. Abby on February 18, 2010 at 6:49 pm

Gina, you’re gorgeous! I seriously never noticed anything less than ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL about your nose–and really everything, personality and spirit included!!

  15. Madison on February 18, 2010 at 6:52 pm

What?!? You look marvelous! I seriously didn’t even see that there was anything out of the ordinary with you nose. I AM curious how you manage to break it 3 times. Are you like Angelina Jolie in Mr./Mrs. Smith? Some sort of undercover gig? Trainer by day, assassin by night?

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:44 pm

i’m actually just really clumsy and klutzy.. wish i had a cool reason though, haha

  16. Katie on February 18, 2010 at 6:59 pm

Girl first off you are beautiful inside and outside, you have the whole package!!! You are just amazing!!

It makes me so upset when people ask questions like that or make comments like that on someones physical appearance, that is whats wrong with the world today, people like that do things like that to people and put them down and make them self conscious, this leads girls to think they have to change themselves to look better or that they are not pretty, this leads to so many problems in our world today : ( ughhhhhhhh I could go on and on, remember LADIES, WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE IN OUR OWN WAYS!!!! xoxo

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:44 pm

      thank you, katie
      and AMEN!

  17. Suzanne on February 18, 2010 at 6:59 pm

I think you’re beautiful. And I also have days when I hate everything in my closet (and those days are usually spent with me overdrawing my bank account with online shopping). Don’t let the jerks get to you. Our flaws give us character. Perfection is boring. You are super cute and gorgeous and don’t ever think otherwise!

  18. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on February 18, 2010 at 6:59 pm

I just had to go back through your photos to see your nose. I don’t notice anything! I think you’re gorgeous and you’ve got a nice small nose!!

  19. Sam on February 18, 2010 at 7:09 pm

Whoever said that is obviously just jealous. You look gorgeous and I actually really like your nose!

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:42 pm

      thank you, sam!

  20. looloo15 on February 18, 2010 at 7:26 pm

i have been reading your blog for about a month and i just had to comment after reading that RIDICULOUS question!please do not give that person’s question another thought! every time i see a photo of you i cannot get over how stunning you are! obviously, they have an issue and wanted to attack you about something. keep your chin up and ignore the ones that try to bring you down! you are gorgeous!!

  21. Kelly on February 18, 2010 at 7:28 pm

That’s an impressive display of willpower girl. And you totally do not need a nose job, the person that said that probably think Heidi Montag looks good.

  22. Chris on February 18, 2010 at 7:30 pm

By critiquing your outer beauty, that anonymous questioner is showing a supreme lack of inner beauty.

I am also the PROUD owner of a once broken, bumpified nose – it still functions just as a nose should, taking in air so that I can breathe while I run, walk, and otherwise live life. IMHO, that’s what really matters.

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:42 pm

      amen, chris ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. Christina on February 18, 2010 at 7:33 pm

girl, you are gorgeous. your nose is a part of you, just like my slightly lazy eye is a part of me. not everyone notices it, but when they do, i turn it into a compliment, thinking: “really? you were looking that close?” ๐Ÿ˜‰

  24. Stephanie on February 18, 2010 at 7:34 pm

Gina – I agree with your decision to keep things ‘au naturel’!!! I underwent two different sinus procedures when I was a kid and let me tell you that I would NOT elect to do that sort of thing. Thankfully my procedures were endoscopic so they did not leave scars but it definitely left an impression on me regarding surgery, how it is really serious, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!! You are beautiful inside and out, and inspiration to your readers, including me! Big hugs!
    Stephanie

  25. Eira on February 18, 2010 at 7:39 pm

The one thing I notice about everyone is their nose (because this is what I’m most self-concious about myself), and I have to say, I’ve been following your blog for 6 months or so now and not ONCE have I noticed anything wrong with your nose.

  26. Melissa on February 18, 2010 at 7:41 pm

You are a beautiful person inside and out. I’m with the Pilot. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR NOSE! If you have the extra money for plastic surgery, donate it to the charity of your choice. You will feel much better about yourself.

  27. Elise on February 18, 2010 at 7:53 pm

Like so many before me, that post sent me scurrying through your pictures to have a look at ‘said nose’. I never noticed anything about your nose before and I still don’t see anything to worry about now. I’m with the pilot…keep it just the way it is!

  28. Zaineb on February 18, 2010 at 8:00 pm

gina, your beautiful! and i think that person probably didn’t mean it like that, they probably meant how did you break it? i’m pretty surprised that someone all about organic and raw is for plastic surgery, i don’t mean it in a bad way, i just mean that you are all about natural and plastic surgery is all about fake.

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:41 pm

but i’m also all about body love and if there’s something that really bothers someone and they want to get it changed, why not?

  29. Lizzie on February 18, 2010 at 8:03 pm

When I saw that question, I had to go back through your pictures and look for what the heck was “wrong!” I never noticed anything different about your nose, and I definitely think you look beautiful! The pilot is right on the money begging you to keep it. It’s funny how husbands can take something we don’t like and make it beautiful. Case in point- my “sushi roll” lol! I’m an apple shape, so I’ve always had a bit of a pooch on my tummy. I was super super super self conscious about it until Robert (my hubby) gave it a pet name and declared his love for it. He’s so wonderful! ๐Ÿ˜€

I hope you learn to love your nose almost as much as the pilot does!

  30. Steph on February 18, 2010 at 8:09 pm

Gina, you are seriously a class act!! I would have had more harsh words for that clown. You are 100% absolutely beautiful in every way! Just turn the other cheek to jealous haters. ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. Lisa on February 18, 2010 at 8:14 pm

I’ve seen you in person for several months now and never noticed anything about your nose. You are beautiful inside and out. Kinda a Penelope Cruz & Eva Longoria combo. Also, I think you need to get a vote on the top names to help you with the restaurant!!

    • Lisa on February 18, 2010 at 8:18 pm

A younger version of them, that is!

      • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:40 pm

        thank you, lisa <3

  32. Lisa on February 18, 2010 at 8:14 pm

I like to think the best of people and maybe the reader asked because you’d mentioned you were insecure about it? I’ve never noticed ‘the bump’ anyway.
Whatever the reason is, you are incredibly beautiful and I only ever notice that when you post pics of yourself!!
It’s natural to have insecurities, lucky 99.9% of your readers all seem to have the same opinion that you are very beautiful lady – i hope you believe us!

  33. Kate on February 18, 2010 at 8:16 pm

I have been a reader for quite some time and have never noticed anything “off” about your nose! (when I read this I was like, huh?) I’m sure this person meant no harm! You are beautiful!

  34. caitlin on February 18, 2010 at 8:46 pm

    i like your nose ๐Ÿ™‚

i am unsure how i feel about plastic surgery, too. obviously, i’m all about loving yourself, but how different is plastic surgery from… dying my hair? wearing makeup? my mom had a face lift at 50 and she looks AMAZING now (at 64). people mistake her for someone 10 years younger. i can’t deny that’s pretty awesome. LOL

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:52 pm

your mom does look pretty amazing ๐Ÿ™‚

  35. MareBare on February 18, 2010 at 8:47 pm

i think youre beautiful- dont let those haters get to u! be proud girl!

  36. katelyn on February 18, 2010 at 8:48 pm

Okay, I have never commented on a blog and if anyone attempts to question if I have or will ever comment on a blog I will go to the grave saying I didn’t. With that being said, I am the MOST critical person I know and I never noticed your nose and still don’t see it. I’m a little bit disappointed in my critical skills right now ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Fitnessista on February 18, 2010 at 8:51 pm

      hahah, well thank you ๐Ÿ˜‰

  37. Cyndi on February 18, 2010 at 8:51 pm

I never noticed your nose – hehe – people are gettin’ a bit weird!

I just don’t tend to notice or at least dwell on people’s physical appearance. I go right for the personality or essence – you are a fantastic person!!

    Don’t change a thing Gina!

  38. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on February 18, 2010 at 8:52 pm

In 100% honesty, I have NEVER noticed anything about your nose! You are beautiful, inside and out!

  39. Jean on February 18, 2010 at 8:53 pm

I never noticed your nose, either. You are a beautiful woman, both inside and out. Frankly, I see this question as tame compared to some of the others. I can’t believe how bold some of these people have been in asking some muy personal questions. You’ve been so open – goes along with being that beautiful person. ๐Ÿ™‚

  40. nelly on February 18, 2010 at 8:56 pm

wowsa what’s up in the blogosphere this week? is it pick on lovely ladies week????

didn’t notice one thing wrong with your nose…prolly ’cause your gorgeous and that’s it!

    you’re awesome lady…have a wonderful night!!!

    =)

  41. Annie on February 18, 2010 at 9:03 pm

    That is really silly.
I’m an Italian girl with a huge nose bump. I am really uncomfortable with it and it is not my favorite feature. But I can deal.
I’ve never ever noticed your “bump”.

  42. Krista on February 18, 2010 at 9:03 pm

hmmmm, I had to go back and look at a few pictures of you because Iโ€™ve never noticed (and I still don’t!) anything about your nose. And, regardless, uniqueness is what creates beauty. You’re a beautiful person inside and out and you’re perfect just the way you are! Thanks for being such an inspiration to others. ๐Ÿ™‚

  43. Elizabeth (The Dallas Celiac) on February 18, 2010 at 9:06 pm

I think your nose looks perfectly fine. What an awful thing to ask someone – goes to show what people will say when they know it’s anonymous.

  44. michelle on February 18, 2010 at 9:11 pm

” …..taking a hammer to my schnoz ” i like.. just died reading that.
maybe they didnt mean it the way it came out??….hmm i think i remember you writing about your nose before,no? anyway dont let it bother you yea?it was a stupid tactless thing to say and we luv ya!

  45. Sarah on February 18, 2010 at 9:13 pm

Gina, I never noticed anything unusual about your nose. You’re so beautiful.

  46. Jennie on February 18, 2010 at 9:14 pm

I can honestly say that I have never noticed your nose. You are a beautiful girl. ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. Maya on February 18, 2010 at 9:20 pm

I NEVER noticed anything about your nose! And anyway, we all have our quirks, and that’s what makes us even more beautiful.

  48. Megan on February 18, 2010 at 9:22 pm

i think you’re nose is beautiful. YOU are beautiful.

  49. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on February 18, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Ugh….people have nerve. Anyhoo….I’ve never noticed anything but beautiful on your face. ๐Ÿ™‚
On another note…the other day my husband asked me, “Who the heck is the Fitnessista? Her website is always up on the computer when I go to use it.” I laughed. He now asks me every now and then how you’re doing. ๐Ÿ™‚ I thought it was cute.

  50. Beth on February 18, 2010 at 9:24 pm

I never noticed that your nose was crooked or bumpy…but I also happen to LOVE crooked, bumpy noses (same as my boyfriend, who is also self-conscious about his). Mine is very straight and round, and I hate it. I think a lot of people just hate their noses. But you are gorgeous, so I wouldn’t worry about it – I’d give my right arm to look like you!
