The Face of Temptation

If this isnโ€™t tempting, I donโ€™t know what isโ€ฆ.

roons

Macaroon dough.

I always, always save myself a little at the bottom of the bowl, but today I didnโ€™t have any due to my Lenten thang.

100% willpower, beebs. It wasnโ€™t easy thoughโ€ฆ.

I may have had two mugs full of brown rice cereal to distract me from the dough ๐Ÿ˜‰

Todayโ€™s meals have been a little scatterbrained.. kind of like me ๐Ÿ˜€ I canโ€™t find my base ID ANYWHERE!

I had some millet with AB and banana before hitting the gym with Ash:

We did legs today and it was fierce, then I came back from some protein:

puff

(Egg + egg white puff with nutritional yeast and chili powder)

And an hour nap with the puppers. "โ€™Twas glorious ๐Ÿ˜€

When I woke up, I made a green juice:

Salad:

Kelp noodles with Goddess dressing:

And then went to work.

Work was lovely, and one of my clients (nicknamed Tinkerbell) surprised me with some goodies from her New York trip:

gifts

BABYCAKES GOODIES!

A supercute shirt and a cookbook โ€“she also got me a thing of mints from Dylanโ€™s candy with my name on it. Such a wonderful surprise ๐Ÿ˜‰

Something to talk about:

The original plan was to do a Q & A sesh per usual (lately) but I received my first backwards mean question. I mean, obviously it was bound to happen sooner or later, and after 400+ questions of pure loveliness and fun, I was kind of surprised to see this in the mix.

Hereโ€™s how it went:

Hi Gina! I’m just curious..but what happened to your nose?

i’ve broken it 3 times, and am super self- conscious about the bump on it

I get quite a few questions on the Ask Me Anything page regarding self-consciousness and if I ever have โ€œdown daysโ€ or struggle with appearance, as well as many questions regarding plastic surgery. As far as the off days, of course I do! Usually I feel pretty good, but I am 100% pure girl and I certainly have days where I donโ€™t feel cute or suddenly despise all of the clothes in my closet. A lot of it has to do with hormones and Iโ€™m sure that many girls deal with off-days like this. For the most part, I try to focus on the things Iโ€™m grateful for and find quirks in the little things I canโ€™t change.

Except for my noseโ€ฆ

I have debated for YEARS on getting rhinoplasty, as Iโ€™ve broken my nose 3 times and was left with a crooked bumpy thing in its place. But after all of that (and the pilotโ€™s begging to just keep it the way it is), I decided against it. Something about someone prying the skin off my face and taking a hammer to my schnoz doesnโ€™t sound appealing to me.

As far as plastic surgery in general goes, I really donโ€™t see a prob with it. Of course we should be happy and love the bodies we were blessed with, but if someone is so self-conscious to the extreme that surgery would help them gain back some confidence, then I say go for it. Youโ€™ve gotta do whatโ€™s best for you, always. Heidi Montag on the other hand, is a totally different story. She is a beautiful girl and had no reason to let a plastic surgeon go buck wild with her under the knife.

Just my two cents ๐Ÿ˜€

Please keep those lovely and fun questions coming and Iโ€™ll see ya in the morning with the name of the cafe!!!

xoxo,

Gina

I’m so sorry you got that question! I’ve never noticed your nose looking “strange.” I think you’re absolutely beautiful!

  2. Michelle on February 19, 2010 at 10:28 am

Honestly, I never noticed anything unusual about your nose, I only noticed how pretty you were! I had rhinoplasty on my nose because it was very large before and I was extremely self conscious about it. I really believed that when people looked at me all they saw was a nose! I was very surprised to find out afterwards how little people actually pay attention to what my nose looked like. To me it looked drastically different afterwards, and some people couldn’t even see the difference, or never noticed my nose looking big in the first place! I am still glad that I did it for me, but it just goes to show that what we may see in them mirror is not necessarily what other people see!

lol i’ve never even noticed that you had a bump (or anything wrong with your face, for that matter).

so, sometimes when i work out at the gym it’s really busy and i have to wait to use weights (hah) or benches or machines. i try to move on to the next exercise in the workout so i’m not just standing there waiting, but sometimes it’s the last exercise in the circuit and i have to wait to complete it before starting the circuit over again. do you think this hurts my training?

What a rude question! I have my family’s nose, which is slightly “ethnic” looking. But I’ve learned to love it because its part of my history and connects me to all the strong and lovely women in my family. You should be proud of yours, too! (Not that I ever noticed it before from the rest of you:)

Not to make excuses for whoever wrote that anonymous question, but it’s possible that she was actually asking. I vaguely remember you talking about disliking aspects of your nose before and maybe she was just saying that she had never noticed anything wrong with it?

I don’t know, maybe I’m just being naive but it seems silly for someone to be so needlessly mean about something so random. It’s not like you have an Owen Wilson nose, yours is totally normal!

  6. Maria on February 19, 2010 at 11:20 am

Yeah, I agree. I never noticed anything wrong with your nose at all. I even tried to go back to some pics you posted, but your nose looks just fine!

And I have to say that I have admired your hair since I first started reading this blog! I wish so hard that I had hair like yours! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have never even taken a second glance at your nose. You’re gorgeous just the way you are!

Hi Gina, new to your blog and really enjoying! Quick question for you, what goes into your green juice, it looks so tasty!

    Thanks:)

that one had 2 green apples, 1/2 cucumber, lots of spinach, parsley and 1/2 lemon

Random Question, and you have probably answered this but where do you get your millet bread? It always looks so tasty!

    • Fitnessista on February 19, 2010 at 12:23 pm

at whole foods or the health food store. it’s frozen, the food for life brand

I am one of those people who never noticed anything “wrong” with your nose. Agreed we all have “bad days” and feel funky, part of what makes us human.

I do have to disagree that Heidi is a pretty girl, because she just spews evil, IMHO ๐Ÿ™‚

BTW, extra water helps me keep the sugar cravings down, just a FYI.

    Be well!!!

i have to agree with some of the others….i never noticed it! i have a big greek nose but NEVER have i though of fixing it. maybe my boobs but not my nose-hee hee….i don’t know it kind of makes me feel “greek” and a bit different from the cookie cutter type. embrace it though i don’t think you look any different. like i said, i did not even notice!

I read that question when you first posted it before you wrote this post..and when I read it I didn’t see it as rude..you have many many times mentioned your nose and I think this person was just curious what happened.

  13. MLT on February 19, 2010 at 6:29 pm

Love your blog. I just wanted to say, I wonder if that person meant to be rude? maybe they were just a bit tactless? I remember reading something where you were talking about your nose…I wonder if they read the same thing and were just curious?

Anyway, doesn’t really matter. But I love your blog!

  14. Kristin Pizzi on February 20, 2010 at 4:53 am

I am a lurker on your blog and have seen a ton of pics. I never noticed a bump. I thought it was a typo when I read the question ๐Ÿ™‚ I think you’re absolutely gorgeous!

That’s a really yummy-looking egg puff! I want one! And I think you look pretty– I don’t think there’s anything wrong at all.
