My Kinda Triathlon
Hi friends! How are ya? Hope youโre having a great night <3
This afternoon was pretty chill- I took care of work/biznazz things and had a lil snack between the hustle and bustle.
All hail the pumpkin blob ๐
-2/3 C-ish of pumpkin
-1 scoop of Sun Warrior
-Stevia, cinnamon, gingah, cloves
–BAT EYES! (aka goji berries- on promo right now!)
-Drizzle of maple syrup
Lunch was this beauty:
Kale salad topped with Amyโs Mac nโ Cheese with DAIYA!!!!!!!!! (Ashley saw me squeal with joy when I saw it at Whole Paycheck)
The only thing that would make this meal better would be if it was made with brown rice pasta instead of rice pasta, but Iโm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth ๐
I would never ๐
It was amazing fuel because I participated in a Gina triathlon today:
(Sweaty Betty)
Yoga
(My first Ashtanga class- I LOVED it)
Run
A little over 2 miles with Katy ๐
and
DANCE TRANCE
Which had me feeling so fly like a G-6 ๐
Thatโs my kinda triathlon.. especially since I canโt ride a real bike. Or swim ๐ Minor details, eh?
(Just joking around, too- definitely lot belittling the crazy impressive amount of endurance and training it takes to do a real triathlon. Thatโs fo sho)
If you could make up your own triathlon, what would it consist of??
Iโm off to do the dinner thang and shower ๐
See ya in the AM <3
xoxo
Gina
Can sex be counted as an activity?
Fine then. If not, I’d say yoga, a short run, and some time on the stairmaster. Happy Gena ๐
Bahah- of course it does! ๐
YES ๐
If I could do a triathalon it would consist of a BIkram yoga class, zumba, and spin ๐ my 3 all-time favorite group exercise classes!!
Aaaahhh omigosh that looks SO fun!! I love Ashtanga yoga, and running…and I really would love to try Dance Trance…but I’m super uncoordinated and my ‘dancing’ usually consists of thrashing my arms around and wiggling my booty. ๐
My “triathlon” would be a run, a boot camp class, and a power yoga class ๐
I’ve done doubles before but not a triple – woot!
And I have that tank – in many colours…lurve it!
I think I prefer your version of a triathlon to the run, bike, swim version. I think my ideal triathlon would be spin, body pump and zumba ๐
Bikram Yoga, a Run, and a Deep Tissue Massage.
Those are workouts, right?
I was gonna say my triathlon would involve an eating event of some sort, but I take it back – I watched an episode of Man vs. Food last night in which he actually did do a triathlon that involved eating events between each leg! It was a charity race, kinda just for fun (in N. Carolina I think?) and they do it as a relay, but even so, pounding burgers between events? Nevermind the actual food – OUCH! I can’t imagine running while pregnant with a food baby. Sounds like pain.
My triathlon is dance, dance and more dance! Shakin it is the biznass.
My triathlon is.. a regular triathlon! I’ve been doing a few sprint triathlons every year for the last seven years and I love it! I started out as just a runner and added on the biking and swimming. The last four years, I’ve even ended the summer with an olympic distance triathlon (1 mile swim, 24 mile bike, 6 mile run).
Now, some may consider this to be an extreme amount of exercise, but I train all year and certain don’t obsess about my food. I work at a desk job all day, so getting in a run or a bike ride is, most days, completely neccessary for my sanity. That being said, I’m certainly not the “skinny minnie” most people would expect a triathlete to be. I am a meager 5’3″ and weigh 145 lbs. I’ve been at a little bit thinner in past years, but I’m also proud that I don’t let being a little chunkier in spandex keep me from doing something that most people view as an extreme endurance sport. Sure I wouldn’t mind having a little less “chunk” to love on my body, but really weight is my secondary concern and being fit and having stamina is what I’m proud of. I like your blog a lot and don’t think you exhibit disorder eating or exercising. You are very much about fueling your body and keeping moving! Keep up the good work!
my ideal tri would probably be a weight lifting session, jogging, and yoga.
Ohhh, ok! Sorry, sometimes words can be misinterpreted, especially when the reader, me, doesnt know the tone it was in, similar to her comment and how she brought up Marie Claire. I would never put you in the category of unhealthy blogger, I do love your blog and I respect all that you do! <3
thank you! <3
My triathlon?
Hiking in the mountains. Ballet. Sex.
Not necessarily in that order ๐
sex first. obviously ๐ haha
I love your triathlon! Mine would be similar, only with step class instead of dance trance. And probably vinyasa yoga instead of ashtanga!
Hey Gina! I know I am late on this, but every thanksgiving, i do a RUBIKEYO. haha! its my run (2 miles) bike (45 minutes) then an hour long yoga session. It justifies me eating like a pig come thanksgiving dinnertime.. ๐
My ideal triathalon? Power walking, yoga, and swing dancing.
And I can’t ride a real bike either. :p I thought I was the only one!
glad to know i’m not alone ๐
Ooh, nice triathalon!
Hmmm… What would mine be?
Walking, Zumba, Turbo! ♥ it!
So I’m new to this site. Im attempting to lose about 50lbs (I know A LOT) and stumbled across this while looking for some motivation. This site is pretty cool, but I have to say I’m not sure if I’m daring enough to try that pumpkin recipe you posted today. It doesn’t look very good (to put it nicely). If I’m wrong, and it is in fact heavenly, please let me know! Thanks!
i wouldn’t eat it if it were gross, promise ๐
Ah so fun –
Mine would be Running, Pole Dancing, Spinning (or sex)
I wish I had the time and energy to workout as much as you do!! I love the feeling I have when I’m done and the energy it gives me afterwards. Its the dragging my butt onto the treadmill I hate. I try to get in at least one thing every day whether it be cardio or weights–actually, I’ve been following your Summer Shape Up 2009 and am 6 weeks in–but some days I just can’t do both!
Celebs workout for hours a day so they can have “perfect” bodies, and no one says anything about that except for how envious they are of their bodies!! haha
Oh, and sexercise is my favorite above all! ๐
Just catching up on the latest posts…I think the bottom line is that we see tons of pics of Gina on the blog and she looks great! She’s healthy and in shape – two things many people in the world want to be, but aren’t. If she was superskinny/anorexic looking and talking about working out constantly, well, then of course, something would be wrong. But she isn’t! She’s obviously found the perfect balance for her, which does include days off from working out and dessert, so I don’t see why anyone would even have an issue with how much you’re working out…and if anything, I think you’re “obsessed” with healthy living in general, and that can only be a good thing if it’s done in the way you do it, Gina! You’re awesome…thanks for all the great posts – seeing all those pics of healthy food day in and day out makes me want to eat more veggies, too! ๐
<3
DITTO shannon ๐ love this blog…rock it out gina.
thanks!! ๐
Gina, I absolutely love your blog. like, love love. I check in at least once per day. You motivate the crap out of me and I thank you the world over for it. Your commitment to a healthy lifestyle is absolutely amazing and something that I hold myself to as well. I often have two-a-day workout days – simply because i’m bored, or stressed out, or just enjoy the classes. It’s a better way to spend my time than sitting on the couch or yelling at my family. I’ve never seen anything but balance on this blog. Never have I even considered that your commitment to healthy eating and healthy movement has been unhealthy, or obsessive…quite the opposite in fact. I’m probably rambling all over the place, but just wanted to let you know that you’re admired and that you help a ton of people every day meet their fitness goals. I’m entering a 5k tomorrow for the first time since I had kids because of you — that is pretty outstanding. I guess the sign of a great trainer is someone who can motivate over a distance!
Way to go, Gina! Keep it up.
thank you so much for the sweet comment- i hope you know how much i appreciate the kind words
GOOD LUCK with the 5k! that’s amazing! you’ll rock it for sure ๐
xoxo
If people think taking three classes in one day is obsessive or over the top or too much exercise they need to join the Marine Corps or go through the California highway patrol academy. The body is an amazing thing and I think a lot of people underestimate what it can do.
hmm … running, cartwheels, yoga.
I cant wait for our Dance Trance next week with the gang! I am nervous, it’s my first time! Yikes ๐
don’t be nervous- you’ll love it!!
the cool racerback and wunder unders (pants and crops) are def my top two with the be still pants rounding out the top 3 ๐
love the gina triathlon! (i would do crossfit, running and yoga myself)
hmmmm….dream tri would be running, biking, and spinning. i realize thats kinda an overlap, but i like the group aspect and the individual bike experience too…so they feel different to me. ya dig?
one of these days ill try yoga and maybe add that in…i do like the massage idea too though ๐
Gina, kudos to you for the three-a-day!
To everyone who left a nasty/”You’re obsessed” comment: grow up. I’m sorry, but if you can find this page, you can find another page that makes you less uncomfortable just as easily. And there are a billion horrible, anorexia-promoting, literacy-killing blogs out there by people with IQs under 100. I stand by the fact that Gina’s isn’t one of them, and she’s one of the few bloggers with whom I (as a recovered anorexic) can enjoy a nice, safe, HEALTHY environment.
See? I’m a grown-up. I don’t read the pages that bother me.
You go, Gina. Love your face! Also, just started doing Zumba, and it makes me super happy because your positive energy is with me the whole time. ๐
<3
thank you <3
i'm proud of you for taking charge of your health and surrounding yourself with the things that are best for you ๐
wish we could zumba together!!!
Gina, you have an amazing blog. Keep doing what you are doing. After all it is “you” and “you” is GREAT! (Wow, good thing this is not a grammar blog. LOL)
Hey Gina!
Long time reader…not-so-often-commenter but I do read daily and I love your blog. When I first found my balanced life my ‘triathalon’ consisted of spin, pump and yoga EVERY saturday morning. Nowadays, I try not to push my body so hard but the body is an amazing thing and is capable of so much (as Caitlin would say “you are stronger then what you think” HOWEVER, I always up for a challenge and a good work out so my triathalon today would be Run, Bikram and Pump (or a game of volleyball) I am starting a 30 day bikram yoga challenge november 1st.
I love your vibe!
I love this post and love that you got carried away in all the fun of it. I also love the idea of designing my own triathlon! (and once I’ve kicked my nasty cold I might have to do it as well!)
I think for me…nope, thinking about it I land exactly where you did only in a different order… I’d want the yoga after my run to stretch is out!
Running, Yoga, Dancing
I could also replace the dancing with kickboxing! Woot!
I’d choose my three favorite…Zumba, Spin, and Yoga!
Hi Gina,
I am a reader of your blog, and currently working on a master’s program in health promotion. I enjoy reading your blog, but it is concerning to me how few calories you consume, especially for someone who works out three times a day. “Everything in moderation” is my health philosophy, and I don’t believe that (indirectly) promoting excessive exercise is a wise choice for you, or for your readers.
Thanks for allowing me to throw my “2 cents” in there.
i don’t post all of my eats for this very reason- it’s too much for some people, too little for others, just right for me. i just like to give ideas for meals and snacks
Love the idea of a personalized triathalon! I would do running, tennis and cleaning ๐
i love cleaning too!! ๐
My triathlon would be swimming, a leisurely ride on my one-speed bike, and yoga. I was on the varsity swim team all through high school, and that alone makes me really want to train for a real triathlon (or a partial) one day, though running and I still haven’t made friends.
