9/30: Meals, fitness and wildcats

Happy Sunday!

I wasn’t sure if this morning’s run was going to happen- we were up pretty late last night having a blast at the U of A game.

Me and tom

Our friends had some extra tickets in the skybox, so when I got off work, I came home to get ready, feed lovebug dinner,

(here she is doing “ET” to her uncle Kyle)

Liv doing et

and Mikaela came over to stay with sleeping Liv while we went to the game.

My dates:

The boys

I had a feeling that the skybox was going to be full of dudes, talking about football things -I love to go to games, but I’m not a big sports fanatic- but to my surprise, two of my good friends were also in the same suite.

Chatting with the girls,

glorious food,

(I’ll spare you the rest of the blurry photos I took)

and the cats (almost) won 😉

Even though I was dragging a little this morning -I think I had a grease hangover from the curly fries that were consumed at midnight haha- I had plans to meet up with a friend at Sabino Canyon for a Sunday morning 7-miler. Best motivation to run? Have someone there waiting for you. There was no way I was going to flake out on her, so I went, and we had an awesome run. She’s done 43 (!!!) marathons, so it was a breeze for her, so we talked the entire time- always makes it go by faster.

When Liv wakes up from her morning nap, we’ll be off for the rest of the day’s adventures.

See ya later tonight with pics from the day and the October workout calendar!

Last chance finish up September goals! What can you do today that’s still on the list?

What’s on this week’s fitness and meal plan? Are you trying any new recipes or fitness  classes?

This week’s tentative fitness plan:

Meal/snack ideas:

Breakfast for lunch

Some pics from our Friday: Met with some friends for lunch at AJs. This salad was INCREDIBLE- greens, goat cheese, balsamic, dried cranberries, blackberries and candied almonds  Paused during playtime for a 30 second snuggle 😉  and since Liv took two 2-hour naps (!!!), I did a lot around the house, made the October workout […]

The smell of [tempeh] bacon in the morning…

Friday!! So happy to see ya. Anything fun planned this weekend? We’re going to watch my little bro play football tonight- it’s been a year since I’ve seen him play and I’m excited to cheer with the fam. Not as excited for the awkward high school flashbacks haha. This morning, I decided to use some […]

Big-girl bath

I mentioned before that I was trying to think of ways to make bath time more fun, and that Liv was hinting that she was getting too big for her baby tub. She kept trying to climb out, and would sometimes look up at me like, “Really, mom? I’m way too old for this plastic […]

Apple tart for one

Yesterday, I got to teach the Tabata class at work. My friend, who has it every week, is recovering from a triathlon and said, “Hey Gina, will you teach today?” Um, is the Pope Catholic? Even though I’m not new to Tabata, the class is very structured with specific moves for each round and recovery […]

Not my skillz

One of my favorite things: taking a walk with my girls after work. It’s such a great way to end the day, and Bella appreciates the change of scenery. It’s also the icing on the cake when dinner is ready at home, waiting to be devoured: sweet potato and black bean chili! I didn’t have black beans […]

Meg: Style Icon

A style icon of many, Audrey Hepburn’s 50’s/60’s chic style has been inspiration to me from the first time I watched Roman Holiday. Mimicking your favorite style icon can be a fun way to liven up your style. I dressed up a few simple pieces and gave them a very Holly Golightly a la Breakfast […]

10 Fave Sweet Potato Recipes

It felt so good to enjoy dinner at home with the fam last night, and bust out the pots and pans again. Even if it was a simple meal (roasted veggies and Pilot-grilled chicken), it was perfect,   especially with some vino (which sadly, they do not have at CR). There are a few things […]

Curried Chicken Salad

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments on this morning’s post. It’s not too often that I’ll go out on a limb, but it always warms my heart when you join me out there- thanks for not leaving me dangling 😉 So things are pretty much “back to normal.” It feels good. It was […]

Halloween Costumes with a Baby

For a while, I had a hard time coming up with a themed Halloween costume for our family. I really wanted Liv to be a mermaid, but then I found something totally different- I’m pretty excited about it (and hope she thinks it’s cool when she sees pictures later). We’re actually making the costumes instead […]

What I’m taking back home with me

This past weekend, I traveled alone. As much as I missed my family -I had a couple of rough moments being away from Liv- I know it was good for me. “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” and all that stuff, right? I knew she was having a blast with her daddy and that I […]

CR Cuisine and Amenities

After  a weekend of picturesque views, healthy culinary delights, being pampered and learning (new fitness and health techniques, and also about myself) it’s time to head back to the land of cacti. Before I get back in the swing of life, I wanted to take a post to talk about all of the amazing food […]
