10 barre workouts you can do at home
This is a collection of barre workouts that you can use while youโre traveling, working out at home, or looking to change things up at the gym. Lots of video workouts here, too! All you need is a mat and a pair of light dumbbells.
Hi friends! Hope youโre having a wonderful morning. Itโs freezing here in Tucson (!) so weโll be bundled up indoors and finishing the homecoming video. (It should be up on the blog on Thursday!) Iโll prob hop on the Peloton bike later today and also record a podcast interview. Iโd love to hear what youโre up to this fine Tuesday and if you have any guests youโd like to hear on an upcoming podcast episode!
For todayโs post, I thought Iโd share some of my favorite barre workouts and videos for my fellow barre-loving friends. Iโve posted a ton of barre workouts here on the blog over the years, and I love how much barre always challenges me and how versatile it is. Barre was one of the few workouts that felt good for my pregnancies and strengthening ALL of the muscles in your legs can help support various other activities, whether you like to lift, run, spin, hike, dance, or practice yoga.
Here are 10 barre workouts you can do anywhere. All you need is a mat, a pair of light dumbbells, and something sturdy to hold onto for balance.
1) 10-minute barre abs workout (with video)
This workout combines all of my beloved barre ab moves. Itโs a quick video and makes an awesome ab burner after a cardio or strength workout, or even if you just want to do something quick before bed.
2) Full-length barre and Pilates workout (with video)
This is one of the closest videos I have on the blog to taking a full class! If youโve been curious about taking class at a local studio, try this first and see if you think itโs a fit!
3) Total body barre workout (with video)
This is a 25-minute video that will work your entire body. This is one of my go-to sequences when I know Iโm short on time but want to get an awesome burn.
4) A total body barre blast
All you need is a pair or dumbbells for this one! Itโs a text image so you can take it to the gym with you or try it at home.
5) Classic at-home barre workout
This workout combines all of the *classic* barre moves that felt very dancer-esque and made me fall in love with barre in the first place.
6) Tabata-style barre workout (with video)
This workout combines Tabata intervals with challenging barre strength work. Itโs a very effective method for workouts if you donโt have a lot of time.
7) Barre strength workout (with video)
This workout contains barre strength endurance work. The combo of low reps and high weights helps to build strong lean muscle without needing to lift super heavy weights. Itโs also a great way to change up your training if youโre more used to traditional hypertrophy work.
8) Total body barre workout (using the Fit Tower)
While this workout uses the Fit Tower, you can absolutely do the exercises without it!
9) Cardio barre workout
This workout combines cardio elements with strength for a great calorie burn and metabolism boost following the workout.
10) Barre HIIT workout you can do anywhere
This is another HIIT and barre combo that I love! Your heart rate will remain elevated during the strength work so you sweat more and get in a solid cardio and strength combination. Many barre classes are lower in cardio and this is the best of both worlds.
So, tell me friends: are you a barre fan? If you had to only work out at one studio or gym for the rest of your life, what would you pick?
xo

What a fantastically timed post! I’m about to be travelling for a month with a week of snowboarding at the end and was planning on pulling together a load of your barre leg workouts to keep me snowboard ready whilst on the road so this is amazing <3 Your barre workouts always leave me dying haha. Thanks Gina!
yesssss so happy it was good timing for you! have an incredible time on your trip!
Ha! Was just thinking of pulling out one of your barre workouts and voila, this post appeared! I love your barre workouts, they kill me in the best way!! Thanks for sharing!
so so happy you like them!
Hey Gina! I hadn’t considered a barre workout during pregnancy, but I may give one of these a shot later today since my pregnancy exercise plan has decreased to only walking here and there.
I love your podcast and the variety of folks you’ve had on as guests. But the episodes with the Pilot have been my favorite so far. Probably because they feel the most like your blog to me. With that in mind, I’d love to hear podcasts with some more of your blogger friends – Julie at PB Fingers especially, or Anne at Fannestastic Food and I’d love to hear more about mommin and life with babies/kids. (you know, because see the paragraph above lol)
please let me know what you think if you give it a try!
and yes, i definitely need to reach out to julie and anne and see if they’d be on the show ๐
I work out from home only, but I do enjoy a little of everything video wise. I have tried a few Barre videos more recently. I just did your Total Body Barre workout video because I needed something that would be challenging in a short amount of time since I have a kiddo home sick today. Oh my goodness! I think I died a little haha. It was so good and you made me smile while doing it but…..I might not be able to feel my legs tomorrow ;). It was great and I will definitely add it to my rotation. Thanks!
ahhh i’m so glad you enjoyed it and got a good workout! <3 thank you so much for letting me know.
