Luon for a Cause

Hi friends! How are ya? Hope your morning has been fab.

I started my day off working out with two of my favorite ladies:

chalene_johnson zuzana

Chalene and Zuzana 🙂

There wasn’t enough time to hit up the gym or a class, so I did a lovely 45-minute workout in the living room.

-30 minutes of the TurboFire 45EZ DVD

 turbo

Halo of Sweat Workout on BodyRock

It was so fun to bust out TurboFire again, and for the BodyRock workout, I finished the first set and was thinking “Hmmph. That wasn’t to so bad.” By the second set, I was QUIVERING. That put me in my place pretty quickly 😉

Breakfast was delicious, considering what I had to work with:

fridge

(We did a pretty good job of cleaning in the fridge! Just in case of emergency, I still have a giant block of goat cheese. The lemon wedge is in there because it keeps the fridge smelling fresh)

I decided to bust out this pack of protein I picked up at Whole Paycheck yesterday, since I’m waiting for my Sun Warrior to get here and the mere thought of the Standard Process dairy-free makes me ill.hemp

I was a little apprehensive because 97% of the time, hemp protein tastes like you just bit into a tree branch.

This one was actually pretty good!

cereal

Inspired by Katie’s Banana Bread in a Bowl and Kath’s cereal smoothie, I blended up 1 C brown rice cereal, 1/2 banana, pack of said protein, 1 C almond milk, and topped with the other half of the banana.

It was lovely- tasted almost like Cocoa Krispies, which was my all-time fave cereal back in the day 😀

Luon for a Cause

luon

I was trying to think of something I could do to help with the relief situation in Japan –watching the news footage is devastating- and remembered the very successful Shop 4 A Cause that Angela has done.

What do you guys think about Luon for a Cause?

I’ll have an auction next Thursday for all of your gently-loved lululemon gear you’d like to donate. If you donate the items, you will also be donating the shipping cost to send your item to the winning bidder. It will be a great way to try out some new fun stuff, especially for those of you who have been wanting to try lululemon.

100% of the proceeds will go to Red Cross <3

If you would like to participate, please send a pic of what you’d like to donate (no damages, please!) and a description with the size to fitnessista at gmail dot com subject: Luon for a Cause

I’m off to an appointment, then hitting the road to Phoenix!
See ya there 😀

xoxo

Gina

  12. Lindsey @ SoundEats on March 15, 2011 at 1:19 pm

I love that BodyRock workout! Just did it yesterday AM! 🙂

  13. Ashley @ Feeding Ashley on March 15, 2011 at 1:22 pm

That sounds like a great idea! I don’t have the $ for lululemon but this would be perfect and an awesome way to help. I love your pink laptop btw.

  16. Vanessa @ Swift as Shadows on March 15, 2011 at 1:25 pm

Great idea! I don’t have any Lululemon clothes to donate, but I would definitely buy something. Always wanted to try them out, but we just can’t afford it. I’ve been trying to figure out how else to help Japan, so this is perfect. I’ll definitely buy! =)

  17. Martha on March 15, 2011 at 1:25 pm

Fitty (can I call you Fitty?), You are so selfless- this is such a good idea 🙂 I don’t have any lulu to donate but I will be bidding on some fo sho.

  18. Courtney (greeneyedrunner) on March 15, 2011 at 1:28 pm

That’s a fantastic idea! I may have to bid on everything, budget-willing.

I’m totally loving on that brown rice toast by the way, it’s so good!

  19. Laura @ prettylittlewords on March 15, 2011 at 1:29 pm

I love your sunny orange Brita peeking out of the fridge!! 🙂

  20. Kelly @ Laughter, Strength, and Food on March 15, 2011 at 1:34 pm

    Great idea for the auction!
Also…I HATE when my fridge looks like that!! 🙁

  21. Katie on March 15, 2011 at 1:39 pm

I have to admit I think it sounds really gross to wear someone’s used (even if only lightly used) workout clothes. I will donate to the cause, though!

    • Fitnessista on March 15, 2011 at 2:06 pm

quite a few people wear lululemon more to hang out than workout. the clothes wash really well and many are antibacterial, so i wouldn’t think twice about wearing someone else’s lulu gear.

      • Dana Marie on March 15, 2011 at 4:25 pm

a lot of girls at auditions wear it – I think because some of them have worked there and get discounts – some of the zip ups I really like – the cut looks cgreat, but I dont have any. I find some good athletic wear at TJ Maxx too, and it’s usually more unique since they are past season or whatever — more my price range! I know what you mean, you’re just gonna sweat it up!

  22. Corie on March 15, 2011 at 1:46 pm

    Great idea! I can’t wait to bid : )

  23. Alexis on March 15, 2011 at 1:46 pm

Don’t worry, Katie…I am going to try to donate some new clothing 🙂 lol

  24. Chelsea Carr on March 15, 2011 at 1:49 pm

This is a great idea! I don’t have any lululemon since there isn’t one any where near me.. but I would be willing to bid!

  25. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on March 15, 2011 at 2:16 pm

“97% of the time, hemp protein tastes like you just bit into a tree branch.”–

LOL and so true! Every time I write about hemp protein, I always say it tastes a bit too…”earthy” for my taste and I get a bunch of comments wondering what I mean. The words dirty and gritty come to mind 🙂 But…the Hempshake stuff IS way better than most, I agree. I loved Cocoa Krispies, too, as a kid. Oh yes please!

The cause and donation efforts is awesome, Gena. Unfortunately I don’t own except 2 pieces of Lulu…a pair of pants and a sports bra. I wear them both quite a bit so not really donation-worthy items but I have made some donations online to the Red Cross even if I don’t have any lulu stuff for you. Great idea though!

Have fun in Phoenix…I know you girls are gonna have the best time! (I just sniff the biggest blogger meetup ever :))

  26. Emily on March 15, 2011 at 2:23 pm

Gina, I always read but never comment. This is an EXCELLENT idea. I definitely have some luon in my closet that I can donate to the cause. I will go home and look tonight! I love that you’re using lulu to help people affected by the horrific tragedy in Japan.

  27. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on March 15, 2011 at 2:25 pm

I think that’s such a great idea Gina! I don’t have any to give away, but I’d gladly bid on some!

And I had to laugh about your hemp protein and tree branch comment, because although I’ve never tried it, I’ve heard that it’s definitely not the tastiest!! Glad to hear yours was ok though! 🙂

  28. Gillian Young on March 15, 2011 at 2:28 pm

Great idea! I have lots of Lululemon so I’ll go through my stuff and see if there’s something I can donate!

  29. Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete on March 15, 2011 at 2:29 pm

Great idea Gina — I don’t have any lulu pieces, but I’m excited to see what will be up for bid!

  30. Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing on March 15, 2011 at 3:02 pm

That’s a great idea Gina! I don’t own any Luon, so I guess I’ll just have to change that when this comes together 😉 Thanks for the lemon wedge idea — didn’t know that!

  31. Anna on March 15, 2011 at 3:05 pm

This is a great idea! I have a ton of lulu stuff from my years as an educator, but I’m not sure any of it is in good enough condition to sell. I’ll have to take a look tonight.

  37. Kara on March 15, 2011 at 3:31 pm

That Zuzana chick…those aren’t real, right? Cause that just wouldn’t be fair.

    • Fitnessista on March 15, 2011 at 3:48 pm

i think her body in general just isnt fair 🙂

  38. Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife on March 15, 2011 at 3:37 pm

that is way cool- what a fun idea!! Have a good trip 🙂

  39. Haleigh on March 15, 2011 at 3:37 pm

What a great thing you’re doing to help those in Japan. I’m still a bit shaken up about it, I’ve had a fascination with Japanese culture since I was a kid. My grandfather was stationed there after WWII. It just breaks my heart.

Also, an amazing opportunity for those of us without a lululemon store nearby.

  40. Anne on March 15, 2011 at 3:42 pm

I think you should do a macaroon raffle (:

    • Fitnessista on March 15, 2011 at 4:10 pm

every lululemon piece im donating will come with 6 macaroons 🙂

  41. Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries on March 15, 2011 at 4:14 pm

    That’s an awesome idea, Gina!

  42. Christine (The Raw Project) on March 15, 2011 at 4:39 pm

Yum, I need to try the hemp shake! I like the nutritional value of hemp protein, but the flavor lacks compared to Sun Warrior. And the cause idea is great.

  43. Angela (Oh She Glows) on March 15, 2011 at 4:48 pm

Oh my gosh this is an awesome idea!!!

  44. Jill on March 15, 2011 at 5:04 pm

I love love love this idea, Gina! I will definitely bid!

  45. Emily on March 15, 2011 at 5:27 pm

Have you heard about the tragedy at the Lululemon in Bethesda, Maryland? I was surprised given your connection to Lulu to not see a mention in a post about it. It is so tragic.

  46. Ashley @ Will Run for Food on March 15, 2011 at 6:19 pm

Great idea! I don’t own ANY yet so I would definitely bid if they are my size!!

  47. Namaste Gurl on March 15, 2011 at 6:32 pm

I wish I could afford any Lululemon products- so kind of you to help in any way!

  48. Stephanie @ LiveCookLove on March 15, 2011 at 7:12 pm

I don’t have anything to donate but I’ve been wanting some Lululemon workout pants/capris for a long time now! I don’t currently have any but keep hearing awesome things about it. I can’t wait for the auction!! What a great idea!

  49. Mary (what's cookin' with mary) on March 15, 2011 at 7:13 pm
