My day in one photo

Here is my day in a picture.

socks

Here’s what it says:

-I overslept

-Couldn’t find matching socks to save my life. The best I could do was two pink ones

-Had to race home in between classes because the Pilot locked himself out of the house… and he was wearing shorts in 40* weather. Poor guy

Somehow in the frenzy, I managed to make 2-minute eggs, toast and tea

eggs

Turned on the coffee maker, cracked the eggs, microwaved the bread, scrambled the eggs, topped the bread, plated, photo-ed, out the door.

At least last night was fun 😉

The Pilot had a roll call at work, so my friend Marisa brought over pizza and movies.

My favorite gluten-free slice and salad from Renee’s Organic Oven:

pizza

Ginger ale for me, red vino for her

drinks

+ Love Actually, which is my favorite holiday movie, that isn’t really a *holiday* movie. I kind of have a thing for Hugh Grant… [Another fave: The Holiday] I always love movies at home so much more than the theatre. You can eat whatever you like and talk the entire time and it doesn’t matter.

I’m back at the casa now, and going to get my Zumba playlist together and make some lunch before heading back.

Hope you’re enjoying your Saturday <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: What’s your favorite winter movie? Elf wins over here, and I also love the old Frosty and Rudolph movies.

LOVE Hugh Grant also. “The Holiday” is one of my fav movies!

    • Fitnessista on December 3, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Yeah, my daughter does the sock thing, we’re in MI too. I like Elf, and I use my kids as an excuse to watch the polar express!

Also in pennsylvania. that’s the “cool” thing to do.

  6. Tabi on December 3, 2011 at 2:18 pm

AHH! Love Actually is so my favorite movie of the holidays and also… of all time?! haha. The first time I ever watched it I thought my heart was exploding and I’ve been obsessed ever since (also love Hugh in a ridiculous way). And The Holiday is probably my second go-to! Aaaaand, my sister and I watch Elf almost every year and recite the lines to each other endlessly… never.gets.old. I love that you have the same faves, that just made me way excited <3

I LOVE The Holiday. Not really sure why I love it so much, but I do. I’ll watch it all year round though. I always like watching Lord of the Rings during Christmas time, even though I haven’t done it for a few years. They came out in cinema during Christmas when they first came out, so it kind of became a tradition in my mind. 🙂

Gina, I recently searched for ‘black bean something’ – what my husband replied with when I asked him, ‘What do you want for lunch?’ I found your recipe for black bean quinoa burgers, and more importantly your blog, which I am now in love with!

Hubby went away for a few days last month and I watched the Holiday three times! XD I just adore that movie.

Looking forward to reading you in my spare time (the people that know me are laughing hysterically at that last bit). Cheers!

    • Fitnessista on December 3, 2011 at 2:23 pm

aww thank you for saying hi! so glad you found my little blog 🙂
hope you enjoyed your black bean somethings 😉

  9. Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries on December 3, 2011 at 2:22 pm

I’ve had plenty of those “mismatched socks” days too! At least you rocked some cute ones. 😉

My favorite holiday movies are probably Miracle on 34th Street (the newer-ish one) and Elf!

  10. Army Amy* on December 3, 2011 at 2:27 pm

Holiday Inn is my favorite Christmas movie. It’s a oldie but so good!*

  11. JennP on December 3, 2011 at 2:31 pm

I remember seeing Home Alone in the theatre when I was 7 years old, and it is STILL my favorite holiday movie! The past few years, when the hubs and I break it out to watch it, we are totally blown away at how it looks like such an old movie (age of the cars, decorations in the house etc etc).

    • Fitnessista on December 3, 2011 at 2:31 pm

ahhh i love home alone 🙂
      “buzz’s girlfriend… woof”

I have SO many favorite Christmas movies! I love Muppet Christmas Carol, Love Actually, the Holiday, White Christmas, The Santa Clause, & the old Miracle on 34th street! I also just love the old TV Christmas specials like Road to Avonlea & Little House on the Prairie. We watch them every xmas! 🙂

    • Danielle on December 3, 2011 at 2:37 pm

PS. Love Actually is one of my all-time faves but I totally watch for Colin Firth not Hugh Grant! lol. Be still my heart. 😉

  14. Allison on December 3, 2011 at 2:36 pm

We watched Elf a couple of weeks ago on ABC family- I hadn’t seen it in years and I totes loved everyyy minute of it! And his idea of a balanced breakfast should be an acceptable Christmas morning bfast 😛

  15. Jan on December 3, 2011 at 2:51 pm

I watched Love Actually for about the millionth time over the Thanksgiving break! The Holiday is another Christmas fave. I also love Elf and Home for the Holidays (Holly Hunter, Robert Downey, Jr,). The Family Stone is pretty good, too.

  16. Cindy on December 3, 2011 at 2:59 pm

It is a family tradition to watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation a million times (only a slight exaggeration) between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Love that movie. Tie for second, Elf and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (I was always referred to as Cindy Lou Who when I was little). 🙂

  17. Jessy (squeezetheday) on December 3, 2011 at 3:05 pm

I must be one of the few people who didn’t like Love Actually. I did love The Holiday, though! I don’t have a favourite holiday movie, but as a kid I loved watching Home Alone around Christmas. Ahh, now I can’t wait for the holidays!!

  18. Cristin on December 3, 2011 at 3:16 pm

No one has said it yet, but “It’s a Wonderful Life” is by far my favorite christmas movie. Second is “A Christmas Story,” I laugh through out the whole movie!

  19. Brooke @ sweats & sweets on December 3, 2011 at 3:18 pm

That photo with the socks captures my life everyday. I feel like I’m constantly rushing.

  20. Amber L on December 3, 2011 at 3:25 pm

If I ever visit Tucson, I am beelining it to Renees Organic Oven and ordering exactly what you get. I drool everytime you post a picture of it!!!

p.s. I made dark chocolate covered ginger snaps the other day and they are sooo good. Have you ever had anything like it? If not, I definitely recommend trying it!

Love Actually is amazing! My friend Katie and I had a memorable viewing of it that included a box of wine and impromptu sleepover. Lots of girly tears were shed. 🙂

Oh good heavens. You just reminded me that I own Love Actually and haven’t watched it yet.

    DONE.

Elf takes the cake for me too, Home Alone comes in second 🙂

  26. Dynamics on December 3, 2011 at 4:47 pm

  27. kara on December 3, 2011 at 4:58 pm

i’m watching Love Actually right now, actually!!! and that’s weird.. my roommates have been wanting to watch Love Actually because its *that* time of year. i totally think its a christmas movie.
another favorite is Little Women, which is also not necessarily really a christmas movie. its my family’s tradition to watch it while decorating the christmas tree.

  28. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on December 3, 2011 at 5:03 pm

Socks…they look adorable..and some days are just like that.

I dig the cups the ginger ale and vino are in.

Fave winter movie? I couldn’t even tell you. Does the Great Pumpkin Patch with Charlie Brown count? 🙂

  29. Krysta on December 3, 2011 at 5:09 pm

Love Actually is my favorite “holiday” movie too!

  30. Elise on December 3, 2011 at 5:26 pm

I am absolutely UHB-SESSED with the original (cartoon version) How the Grinch Stole Christmas! It’s been my favorite holiday movie for pretty much my whole life. Around the age of 6 my tape of it got stuck in my Dad’s VCR and at the time I thought it was just about the worst thing to ever happen to me, haha.

  31. Jessica on December 3, 2011 at 5:27 pm

Mark me down for Love Actually too! My hub wasn’t too fond of it though.

  32. Amy on December 3, 2011 at 5:48 pm

    Love those socks!

  36. Laura on December 3, 2011 at 7:16 pm

Watched Love Actually last night also!

I really love that movie. I commented to the hubby that even though we’ve seen it a bunch of times we always end up watching it again like its the first time (not doing other things like you sometimes do when you’ve seen a movie before).

Your pizza and salad look divine. So do your mismatched socks 🙂

  37. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on December 3, 2011 at 7:28 pm

The Holiday and Love Actually are two of my favourite holiday movies too. I’m a sucker for all those love stories. 😉 Also I really like The Family Stone, but no one else I know likes it!

  38. Lindsay Loves Veggies on December 3, 2011 at 7:55 pm

Love Actually is my favorite movie of all time! The Holiday is definitely one of my fave holiday movies too. Both are surprising, since I’m usually not so into the chick filcks! 🙂

  39. Barb on December 3, 2011 at 8:10 pm

    Gina,

You say you have lost 40 pounds over the years and have managed to keep it off…I am just “starting” my journey and love to hear how people did it. Obviously it was healthy eating and working your body…but HOW did you become a dance instructor/trainer? WHY did you decide it was time to lose weight? If there is a blog post that explains your “beginnings” could you link it to me?

    • Sable@SquatLikeALady on December 3, 2011 at 9:46 pm

If I recall, Gina, you describe your weight loss/intro to a fit lifestyle on your about page (sorry, I’m really not such a creep — it’s just that yours was the first fitness blog I really clicked with!) but I would LOVE to hear more about how you decided to get started instructing and what the process was like =)

  40. Michaela on December 3, 2011 at 8:22 pm

oh my! but at least the socks look like it was meant to be a pair 😉
I absolutely LOVE “Love Actually”. One of my fav movies ever. Also “The Holiday” is great. And “Little Miss Sunshine” 🙂

Just started reading your blog, Gina. It is now one of my favorites!
I love the Family Stone at the holidays even though it is filled with a lot of not funny, awkward moments. I hated it when I first saw it but now I kinda crave it every year:)

    • Fitnessista on December 4, 2011 at 12:05 pm
