We Have Life
Heyyy bloggies hey How’s your night been? Hope it’s lovely <3
Remember the sprouts I started the other day?
We have LIFE!
Can’t wait to throw those bad Johnnies on a salad.
This morning, I took Bella for a walk on the base trail:
and did my first Bodyrock workout. I’ve heard a lot of good things about these workouts from the Twins, and love the fact that they can be done at home with minimal equipment.
Today, I did the “Ass-busting workout.” That it did.
The whole thing took me about 35 minutes and I was DRIPPING in sweat. I felt kind of hardcore doing it with all of the Air Force peeps around I can definitely see myself incorporating these workouts a couple of times each week, especially when I’m pressed for time.
Post-workout smoooothie:
It was actually one of two smoothies I enjoyed today At work, I made a Xoom juice run and also dipped into the community almond butter (in addition to my packed lunch). It’s been a snacky kinda day <3
I’m off to catch up on emails, start my new book proposal (thank you for all of your tips and kind words this morning) and then make some dinner.
See ya on Fashion Friday!
xoxo
Gina
Something to talk about: How important is it for your eating habits to align with your favorite bloggers? For example, I know some people that only read vegan blogs if they’re vegan, veggie blogs if they’re veggies, and so on. For me, I read tons of blogs with all eating styles under the sun. (Don’t usually comment because it’s via iPhone and I suck at typing, but I lurk many amazing blogs) It’s fun to get ideas from bloggers who eat kind of like I do, but feel like food is just a conversation piece in healthy living blogs. It’s the blogger’s daily shenanigans and personality that I care about the most.
Today’s workout jam: “More” by Usher. This song helped me push through my last set of intervals this morning—it’s overplayed on the radio right now, but it’s catchy and I lurve it… and Usher
*Don’t forget to send your Winter Shape Up success stories my way! fitnessista at gmail dot com
Hey Gina Bean!
Haven’t left u a comment in 4 eva! Just wanted to say hi :).
(And Molly and Henry say hi to pretty Bella too)
Oh, and I definitely don’t just read vegan blogs. LOL I’m like you, reading a ton as a creepy lil lurker ;).
hi lovely friend!
even though i havent been able to comment, im always reading!
love you!
I read a variety of blogs – I feel like you can be inspired by anything and seeing so many ideas really gets my own creative juices flowing!
Haha I just came from the bodyrock website! I’ve been doing the 300 sandbag squat challenge when I’m pressed for time! university midterms ya dig?
“More” is my current jam, too! As far as food/blogs go…reading Vegan/Vegetarian/etc. blogs has opened up my mind and my perspectives. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I can appreciate people who do follow those lifestyles and enjoy learning about their choices and the food they eat and make.
I love Bodyrock workouts — I haven’t done too many but they are hardcore. I want to be Zuzsana when I grow up 🙂
I read lots of blogs with lots of different “tastes” – I read them more for who the blogger is, not so much what they eat.
she is RIPPED
I don’t eat like any of the blogs I like, but I wish I could afford it/had time to prep it, so it’s living vicariously through you all 🙂
No one reads my blog for my creative and healthy eats, it’s all about baby and puppy pictures 😛
thats the fun stuff, anyway- can’t go wrong with babies and dogs
I read all types of blogs, vegan, vegetarian and meat eating. I have learned about many different types of foods, especially from you since I started reading blogs. I try to read a diverse selection!

There is an ab routine in Body Pump that’s set to “More.” It’s a great song for that!
I also ‘lurk’ on a ton of blogs… I read all different types but tend to relate the most to healthy living blogs. I especially relate to your style of eating because I also do what works for me. I like that you aren’t rigid about defining what you eat!
we did that track yesterday- i loved it!
That BodyRock girl is RIPPED. I used to subscribe to her on Youtube, til someone linked that she was an… adult film star? Ha, the workouts are seriously tough though.
I love “More” by Usher! And I agree, I consider the food to be conversation in blogs because I usually just like the way someone writes.
hahah! is she really?
when i was explaining the workout to the pilot i was like: “she doesn’t even look like a real person. she looks like a character on an xbox game”
She discusses it here:
http://www.bodyrock.tv/2011/01/04/my-interview/
I read a variety of blogs, but my favorites are usually pretty health-oriented or, on the other end of the spectrum, very creative in the kitchen. A lot of bloggers don’t really eat the way I do, so I basically like to find recipes that I can adapt to fit my lifestyle!
And I love finding fitness motivation, too! I’ve been meaning to try BodyRock ever since the Twins mentioned it, but I’m really gonna try it now! 😉
I like to get ideas from other bloggers, so I read a great variety of blogs with different feasting styles, but I do have to remind myself sometimes that there’s no “perfect” way of eating, and what’s best for one person is certainly not going to be exactly the same as anyone else’s.
I love Usher’s “More”! Always gets me to bust out extra reps and such 😉
I have my favorite bloggers but love checking out other blogs. I like getting new ideas. Discovering Quinoa for me was amazing. I also discovered almond milk.
That is a lot of sprouts in that jar.
I read all kinds of food blogs, healthy, vegan, dessert, they all have awesome food ideas and sources if inspiration. Food is infinitely adaptable, so even if a recipe doesn’t initially match with a given style of eating I believe a touch of creativity and luck can make anything work for every diet.
I read all sorts of blogs, too! I mean, I probably wouldn’t eat a meat-cooking blog if that’s all there was to it, but I think that each blogger has a lot to bring to the table, regardless of their food choices. As long as they incorporate their life and eat an interesting and varied diet, I’m down to read whatever!
I thought you were referring to life of a different form (ahem, baby Gina or Pilot) in your title 😉
and I’m vegan, but definitely do NOT just read vegan blogs. In fact, I probs read more non-vegan blogs than vegan ones! I read blogs for the people more than I do for the food they cook & eat 🙂
hahah! not yet 🙂
The smoothie looks good! I usually have one with fruit, spinach and sun warrior after I work out. What do you put in yours?! 😀
that one had decaf espresso powder, cacao, almond milk, sun warrior + protein from the doc, frozen blueberries
I read all kinds of blogs too. I am a meat eater, but enjoy your blog.
i love that song.
You need to look up Mohombi – Bumpy Ride. Best song ever.
Totes weird and indian.. but it literally makes me booty shake instantly. 1 <3 body rock! I always do those on sundays when i have a day off running!
I’m not vegetarian or vegan – the only meats I don’t really eat are red meats and pork, but this doesn’t influence the blogs I read. I love reading blogs of vegans and vegetarians (and flexitarians!) to get ideas, and I’m totally open to eating vegan/veggie friendly meals.
You have so many fabulous and unique food creations on here, I thought you might be just the person I need. Do you have any good recipes for gluten free sweets! I’d love to be able to make some TASTY gluten free cookies!
i made a gluten free muffin top tonight- recipe will be up in the morning 🙂
I’m so happy you’re doing BodyRock! Zuzie is such a bad ass! I mostly read raw and vegan blogs with the exception of you and carrots n cake, the first blog I ever got in to!
I still do read both vegan and vegetarian blogs even though I’m not vegetarian. A lot of the foods that they use in their cooking do align with my eating philosophy though, so I still do enjoy reading them.
I definitely read all sorts of blogs. I adore reading vegan recipes, but I make no secret of the fact that I eat steak once a week! I think it’s a great idea to have an open mind and learn from so many amazing different people.
Yeah for bodyrock! So glad you tried and loved it! They are tough workouts but we love it, haha! xoxo
and we read SO MANY different style blogs to get inspiration!!!
I read a TON of blogs! And try to comment on tons, too. Different genres, themes, ideas…and actually, some blogs that preech only one dietary path or one way as the only way…they turn me off b/c they are a bit dogmatic or over the top.
I find that I read blogs that have fun/cool/interesting people behind the blog. It’s not so much about the food they eat but about the blogger as a real person, and if i can connect with them or not. Their food choices really dont matter one iota to me. It’s about them, not their food.
Such a great talking point, Gina!
i definitely read any and all kinds of blogs regardless of the food-preferences of the writer. it’s easy to change things up if their preferences don’t align with mine! it also helps me get out of my food comfort zone!
Gina, I love that smoothie cup. What kind is it?
i have no idea, but it’s from tj maxx and is glass
I definitely read (and lurk) on all types of blogs. Even if people eat meat (which I don’t) they usually have some great other insights into life and cooking – lots of the omnivores I know make a lot of veggie meals!
I read all types of blogs! I love trying all kinds of recipes and learning about what other healthy foods my bloggy friends are eating!
I have to agree…food is just a talking point, but I’m really drawn to the person more than their eats!
I’m an equal opportunity reader. I love getting ideas from everywhere, and I’m more into the writer’s personality too.
I freaking love your question of the day… i read all sorts of bloggies! I love reading about different eating styles 🙂
Also, your sprouts will turn green (like the ones from the grocery store) if you put them in the sun for a couple days!
I read vegan blogs, ones that feature indulgent food and those in between because I love to find inspiration in everything!
I can definitely see myself getting into sprouting. So when people sprout quinoa, what do they do with it? Because I don’t know how you would eat it like rice :/ is it a salad and wrap filler kinda like alfalfa sprouts?
As far as blogs go, I read all kinds of blogs regardless of their dietary restrictions. For example, I’m 90% vegetarian but I read blogs of vegans, raw foodists, and carnivores. I used to subscribe to a Fruitarian but that was a bit extreme…
yup you could use it exactly like alfalfa sprouts
I’ve been sprouting too, girlie girl! I have a giant jar of sprouted quinoa and two of sprouted azuki beans:) So crunchy fresh!
I read every kind of healthy living blog out there, many are vegan but I read others anyways for the reason you mentioned – I love reading the daily shenanigans and personality:)
I read all sort of blogs. I can understand not reading blogs that offend you, and it’s great that people are able to identify things that will not improve their lives. I like learning about all sorts of foods, products, and beliefs.
I like blogs that align with the way I eat because the meals they share are appealing. But it’s more important for me to find the posts interesting and to like the writer’s style, so I end up reading blogs about a totally different diet. There are so many intricacies involved that it’s hard to find someone who eats exactly like you do. Someone might avoid meat and dairy like I do but also avoid eggs (I eat them) or eat a lot of soy (also unlike me), or vice versa. Or they might eat like I do but have a completely different set of taste buds, so their recipes aren’t something I’d like to try.
I read lots ‘o blogs! I love getting ideas from all kinds of different people. 🙂 For example, lots of bloggers run and I love reading about their races. I have no intention of running! (unless I’m late or being chased!)
LOVE Bodyrock!! My sister has a slammin’ body and she almost does these workouts exclusively now. They work because she’s sculpted like Zuzana is… she just hasn’t decided if she wants the boobs yet. 😉
I read a ton of blogs whose eats don’t line up with mine… if they write well and make me laugh or make me think, I’m there. 🙂
I like reading lots of different types of food blogs, because it gives me the inspiration to eat things I wouldn’t normally gravitate to. I don’t eat vegetarian or vegan on any kind of regular basis (in fact I’m not sure I’ve ever actually eaten vegan food!) but it’s cool to see what all the different bloggers make and get ideas 🙂
I like reading all kinds of blogs. I don’t want to limit myself. 🙂
I like reading all kinds of healthy living blogs, but I don’t feel any sort of pressure or importance to eat like any of them. I love eating healthy and being inspired by other healthy people, but if I have a cheeseburger and fries at Wendy’s I’m not going to apologize about it 🙂
I’ll have to try sprouting, as I love sprouts and they are most definitely expensive!
I try to read all healthy living blogs, but not just vegetarian ones. I like getting ideas from all sorts of blogs, despite the use of animal products.
I read blogs with all sort of eating styles. To me it’s more about their life & shenanigans :)!!! But if someone is pushing their eating habits on other people and making readers feel uncomfortable I will opt out of reading.
It’s not very important. I eat meat & bread, etc., so I don’t read a bunch of vegan, GF, raw, etc. blogs but I wouldn’t be opposed to it if I like their writing : )
I love reading all different types of blogs – its fun to take a vegan recipe and add some dairy or a meat/dairy/sugar-filled creation and turn it into a tasty, health(ier) dish!
Those sprouts look awesome! Now I want to try 😛
As for the food blogger question, I am dairy free (due to allergy) and write a blog (www.alifewithouticecream.blogspot.com) with healthy recipes for dairy free and coping with IBS. I read a lot of different types of blogs, fitness, running, vegan, gluten free … and the list goes on.
The only thing that tends to lose me is if a blog doesn’t have healthy food. Once in a while of course but I mean consistantly.
I also probably wouldn’t read a blog that was really heavy on the dairy or devoted to something dairy… just wouldn’t be relevant to my life.
The finesista though, is a perfect fit 😛
